  1. I resealed all the motor bolts today. Did one at a time and used 3M 4200. Put the lower bolts in from the outside as recommended by Mercury site. This way sealer is pushed inward into the hull. We generously slathered the bolts up and pushed them so that the excess would fill any voids on the motor mounting bracket. I didn't put sealant in the holes first and now am second guessing myself. Should I be?
  2. This is unique and awesome. Zakk Wylde
  3. Thanks. There is no 5200 fast cure close by so I am at Cdn Tire now and thinking of using 4200 fast cure.
  4. There was very little 5200 in the hole and none on the bolt or inside washer. Seems like Crestliner just put 5200 on outside edge of transom. Typical shortcut I am guessing.
  5. Ok. Thanks again. I'm gonna try to dry it out first for a few days with some heat cause I will worry otherwise. The bolt is exposed and not sandwiched by aluminum which will likely help. There is no flex in my transom. Hopefully all is good.
  6. Do u think I should soak in some sort of thinned epoxy or sealant in the wet hole once it is dried as an extra measure???
  7. Thanks guys. I will use 5200 and your tips. Glad I caught this early - I think I did anyways - although I thought I noticed the wood a little darker on that bolt last fall.
  8. I am getting water through one of my lower motor bolts on my transom (75hp merc optimax and Crestliner combo). I am pretty sure I caught it early. When I got home I checked and it was loose and so were the other three!!! I mistakenly turned the others thinking I was tightening them and the bolts spun. Now I am concerned I have broken the seals on those too. Was thinking I could take out the bolts one at a time and reseal them with 3M 5200 after letting any wet wood dry. Or should the motor be taken off and resealed all over again by a professional???? any advice/tips?????? Thanks so much Landry
  9. Never changed the impeller!!!!??????
  10. Crestliners r welded Jedi
  11. Spending 9000 to buy a warranty costs you about 2000 a year. You will not see repairs that costly over the next 5 years with your current motor. But - when I get my mind on something or start worrying - I often cannot turn another direction so I get it.
  12. I hear ya. And I agree that new boat prices are ridiculous.
  13. Why upgrade. Just keep running that one. It may run perfect another ten years.
  14. Try active release massage therapy. It is like magic. Everyone who takes my advice on this has thanked me later.
  15. You might just fish too much. No. That can't be possible.
  16. He is #1. Entertaining.
  17. I would cancel at that speed and direction for sure. The fishing was terrible yesterday anyways for us and everyone we talked to. Detroit R may have been better?? Heard of one giant caught there.
  18. I got the whole set for 250 through Cabelas American site a few years back. Good stuff.
  19. I have owned two Fish Hawks and they have been very good to me.
  20. I'm not sure why everyone is ripping on this Dave guy. I don't know him but he obviously cares about the fishery. He is on our side not against us. We all care about the Kawarthas. He's trying to help the lake. I can tell you one thing for sure - this tournament is not helping Sturgeon Lake and it's likely more damaging than others. I have met Cliff once. He is an honest kind person. His report of dead fish only supports Daves case. On a side note- Why anyone would want to go in a tournament with a slot limit is beyond me. I laugh at those Redfish tournies down south. We all bring bias into this argument. I personally do not care for tournaments. I could elaborate on the why but it's just my BIAS. A few others here come into this fight with an affinity for them and they will see what they want to see just like I did.
  21. It should be a 100 or less. Unfortunately I know this from experience.
  22. I agree. From what I heard the fish were scooped up if possible and not wasted. But I also agree that it is poor optics. I am not a fan of tournaments anyways.
  23. I owned the elite5 and I had the same issues. It is a very poor deep water model - meaning over 60' it marks your jig very poorly. And for the record - I am very comfortable and skilled with tweaking electronics. I tried everything - on the ice with an ice ducer or in my boat with transom ducer. Same basic deep water issue. I now have a HB 899 and 859 and they mark jigs waaaayyy better. I am very pleased.
  24. Spending big $$$ on batteries is a mistake imo. Now that u have a new charger just go to Walmart and buy everstarts. I once had decade and they did not last long. Also - batteries can be damaged from pounding through waves if u have your compartment in the bow which I do.
