Cheap but fairly durable reel - Cardiff 301 or 401 Abu 6500 - affordable but not durable in my experiences Abu Low profile reels like Toro or Nacl - durable but more $$ Curado - priceyish but durable and good up to Mag Dawgs and #8 bucktails Premier 8' H or XH would be a great all around rod to start with Tackle Industrise 8' XH is another good choice - Google 5/0 sports in London Ontario

I can't catch much lately but I look for coloured water and avoid clearing water on St Clair in summer and Fall. That's where the baits hides out.
-
It's been tough this year.
-
We fished it in September for Muskie. Got skunked AGAIN!
-
That has been my story too typically this year Rizzo. But that's musky fishing - and unless you can be on the water 4 days a week it's gonna happen. Musky fishing sure teaches humility - some years or months it seems so easy and if you are not careful you can start taking yourself too seriously. I have never seen a fish that is so hot or cold. When they are on they can be downright easy to catch because they are so aggressive. When they are off, like most days I've been out this year, they are impossible. I'm jealous of PBenson - if it's no good I could be home for lunch. Instead I stubbornly stick it out for 10 hours to justify the drive. However, we have caught most of our fifties on those impossible days so who knows.

Clean Disruption NF Electric Cars not that far away!

The idea of an electric outboard motor makes me shudder ? -
Do u live right near the river PBenson??
-
It was horrible near Belle and Thames rivers today. The lake may have been good. Dunno.

U did nothing wrong. But I think all political threads should be killed immediately too. I used to wade into them but then I started to get kissed off which is silly I know. I would like to see more fishing threads. I would post some but lately I suck - although I did go 7 for 11 on the Detroit for Muskie last weekend. That was after 5 straight skunks though. I will post some pics of my soft plastic musky Bait adventures soon. It's gotten out of control.

That sucks. South shore of st Clair looks muddy on satellite image

The cheaper ones I bought broke. Can't remember brand. I love my boga I don't lift fish with it but I use it to control its head when in net and unhooking. It was worth the money IMO but I got hooked REALLY bad once so I bought it tighte after that.

How can a musky box not handle soft plastics. That's sad. I say make one or two out of a milk crate and plastic downspout for almost nothing. Big round pipe fits pounders and rectangular holds everything else. Put a plastic sheet on. Bottom to keep the tails from poking out and getting ripped off.

I just got new plastisol and dye today so will do. I have been melting down old baits so far. Still looking for clean cheap lead if anyone wants to trade some baits for lead.
-
I hope so.
-
We used to have them. They were too big for boats under 18 as stated. I have heard the new ones can react with soft plastics so do your homework before u buy.

I have pretty much got it ready to go now. New harness design and I made one with a spinner like a HeliDawg. Tested today and they ran amazing with light of heavy lead and the one with the spinner - amazing. You can feel the blade vibrating and the bait still had a great belly roll and thump. Getting 2 different new plastisols tomorrow and just need to see which firmness is best for the bait. URL=http://s1233.photobucket.com/user/landrysmith/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_3.jpeg.html][/url]

Awesome info. Thanks

Krattor is correct. Lots of shelter there and drum too.

Thanks outlaw. What temp do u pour your lead at? I just got a Lee Pot IV and I was assuming that 7 meant 700 degrees??
-
How would I prep the wire for the lead??? To bond it better?
-
Thanks for the tips and compliments guys I will post a video and pics when all done. It's an evolution right now - tedious step by step kinda thing. In the end I am hoping to airbrush and dip them but that's not until late fall. For now, I wanna take a half dozen prototypes and see if they hold up and catch fish:) they look great in the water.
-
It's very stiff wire and hard to keep the whole harness flat. I could possibly twist it but it will be a challenge.
-
This is how I was planning to set up my .062 wire harness for my soft swimbait. Red represents lead obviously. Do you think hooking the wire inside the lead will be strong enough? Thanks guys Landry

Thanks guys. Have any of u poured with battery lead. Is it too hard it okay??? I am using a Lee Pot IV to pour with.
