  1. I use them a bit too when the hooks are in a bad place to slide my finger near the gill plate. The one thing I would say is that don't use them to support the weight of the fish but lift as well under the belly. It will help on the jaw tearing.
  2. nicely done! its reports like this at 8 am that endanger my employment status. cough cough think I might be comign down with something
  3. sad indeed. He fit a lot of living in his years. one of the toughest players to wear skates. Got to see him drop the puck in Chicago. smiles from ear to ear.
  4. CC, I might be getting out tomorrow on the bog. What do you like to target? PM me and maybe we can get out cheers,
  5. my experiences (before moving here) was avoid anything fresh. You can bring some meat, etc but no produce and limited dairy. I tell my friends that as long as its not fresh you should be ok. You can find out more at www.cbsa.gc.ca. hope this helps
  6. I made an electric smoker out of a 55-gal drum. It works awesome for meats but can't use for cheese. I have seen a lot of the bbq/smokers but I prefer to have 2 seperate pieces. It comes down to a preference thing. I found that what I liked in a smoker and what I liked in a bbq were pretty different so I split the difference. I ended up making a smoker for less than $100. PM me if you want some details on how to make. Either way you go, nothing is better than slow smoked pork of beef brisket. mmmmm now I'm hungry and it's not even 8:30

  10. Hey all, I have a buddy that's coming up for July long weekend and we were thinking about heading to Wolseley Lodge on Wolseley Bay. has anyone ever stayed there? How is the fishing? The accomidations? Thanks, just looking for some stories (good or bad) before I book. I know that its on the French river system but that's all I know about it. Is it a good place to spend a week? thanks everyone for some insight Thanks all!
  11. The evils of cancer have taken many close to me. You have my sympathy and my empathy
  12. From what I understand if its something that you are going to use after July (i.e. plane tickets) then the HST goes into effect Saturday. Might want to confirm that but I'm pretty sure. So that might sway your decision

  20. wonder if they'll be allowed to testify on their own behalf lol serisouly, we'll have to start hunting lawyers...... instead of an animal call, we could use an ambulance siren lol ok...I'm done now
  21. I go on a trip every year about half an hour from S Lookout. Like stated get a spinning rod and and some jig heads, throw on a minnow and there you go. Pike you can use spoons on a leader but for walleye and small mouth I only use a jig head and minnow. pretty easy and has never let me down good luck and welcome to the baord

    Rain Gear

thanks for the info. I'll continue on with the hunt
  24. after reading the post on the BPS ad I was reminded of last year getting soaked wearing poor rain gear. so I'm looking to get some better gear. I'm not looking to break the bank but want something that will keep me dry and last more than a season. I saw the BPS brand listed at a fair price and have seen Frogg Toggs but read mixed results on them. Anyone have a set of decent rain gear that they would recomend. I was thinking the bibs over the pants and of course the jacket. I'd love to be able to afford the BPS gore tex but that's not the reality lol thanks for sharing your experiences cheers!
