    I'm a dad!

I firmly believe that new life is a joy to all of us. As for advice, JohnF accurately described the situation 15 or twenty years from now. This is the time to get your hooks in, while your kid still thinks you are the man. You want to be a part of his new experiences; read to him everyday, starting now. Have baths together, feed him and change him. And listen. Congratulations to you and your wife.
  3. I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?" I said, "Well, are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious." I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?" He said, "Christian." I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?" He said, "Protestant." I said, Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist? He said, "Baptist!" I said, "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord? He said, Baptist Church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915!" I said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off. Hope this helps.
  4. Congratulations on that monster, Rafal. What a beauty!

    New PB

It's a cross between a white bass and a striped bass, also known as a Wiper.
  6. Connection speeds to Phoenix AZ are just super-do.
  7. Wow! I was thinking about posting my report (Sunday till Friday) on the big lake, but it pales beside yours. We broke two tents, flattened another, and entertained three taxis and their passengers that morning. We were at the extreme north end of Opeongo, the campsite at the Proulx portage, and even the big welded alum boat with the 225 stopped in for a coffee. 35 kn out of the southwest, blowing spray, and heavy rain. That was a great recount of your trip, some fine photos. I liked the silhouette.
  8. Sweet, MJL. I love seeing those halos around the spots on those most beautiful trout. Thanks for your post.
  9. Never mind about phoebes, nothing nothing nothing, nothing to see here, just move along. They never catch nothing, double negatives included.
  10. A good landing is one that you walk away from. A great landing is one where you get to use the airplane all over again.
  11. Congrats on your catches, A2F. All of them. I ALWAYS try to keep my fingers away from the business end of pike, btw.
  12. Welcome to Putzer! Get a couple of XRaps and Husky Jerks. Other popular choices are Johnson's Silver Minnow (a spoon), Dardevles, and bucktail spinners like Mepps' Musky Killer. Welcome to Ontario, and good luck on the 2-4 weekend.
  13. Plan your drawer frames to be smaller than the drawer face, flush drawers are difficult. In fact, drawers period are a pita. Take your time, draw it up first, measure twice, and good luck. BTW, how is the drawer support plate supported? If your drawers will hold silverware, then that sheet needs help.

  15. There was a pandemic in 1918, right after WW1. They called it Spanish Flu, but it was still a strain of swine flu. It killed more people than the war did, somewhere around 30 million.
  16. Fine speck, Brian. Thanks for the nice pictures. Ben, I wonder what might happen if you started throwing some Ontario stuff at the fish at home?
  17. Gotta say that Brian sure was working that suit, looking trim AND dapper.
  18. Brian, Linda and I were honoured to be there to witness that very touching and emotional ceremony. Thanks very much. It was also great to see Wayne, Leah, Paul, joey and Memart again too. As for Terry, Linda thinks he's sorta cute in some sorta elf way, I dunno.
  19. Great news, Steve. Congratulations to you and Kristi, a fine lookin fambly you have there. And I will add my compliments too, you are a shadow of your former self, no longer a "stout fellow".
  20. I think all the kindness Mike has shown members here over the years does indeed qualifiy this canoe transaction as karma.
  21. Youse guys are interesting. I think this is becoming a 'Why do we fish?' thread. I've seen 3 - 14 lb lake trout taken from Algonquin park in the last 10 years. Not by me, of course, so this begs the question, What would I do if that tragedy might befall me? Right now, I think she might go back. If I actually land a lunker like that? I'll get back to you.
  22. Gadget is correct. Any soldered connection should be mechanically sound before you apply the solder, and also that the solder be melted by the wires, not the iron.
