  1. Nice. Took the family (5 of us) and van about 8 yrs ago. Spent $700 on the ferry there and back. Tried for Atlantics on the Humber River. Barbless flies only and foreigners need to hire a guide. No fish but a good time. Gotta go back to get skreeched in.
  2. On a minnow. Likely 8 lb line. Amazing. Picture would be way better if only the one guy held it.
  3. very cool. There is something called hybrid vigor. I wonder if they grow faster than a muskie. Anybody know if they can reproduce?
  4. When will this happen and how does it change the bite? Anybody know?
  5. Just wondering. Have you ever gotten a hit figure 8ing if you didn't see a follow?
  6. I'm not a mechanical guy, but I hear lots of new cars now come with a CVT transmission. Like most ATVs and sleds. Most Nissans and now the new Accord. What gives?
  7. As far as drinkingwater plant treatment goes. They remove sediment and kill organisms. Usually with chlorine. Chemicals, heavy metals, hormones -are mostly untouched. I know in some provinces ( I think Alberta) municipal sewage waste has to be dumped into the river upstream from the drinking water intake. Makes you do a good job treating the waste. Still, lots of things get thru. Increased waterflow spring/fall dilutes it all more. But midsummer/winter.......
  8. Hey Lew, get the firehose out. Your trees are on fire! Nice
  9. Ya, but you could buy a 10 inch Believer for that
  10. Cooked a lot of turkeys. It's always my job. The key is not to overcook. Make sure the bird is fully thawed. If not, put in a sink filled with warm water. Dry. Salt/white pepper/ paprika(for colour) -I like to make a thin paste with cooking oil and rub in on everywhere. Cover with foil. Breast side up. 325 degrees. Use a thermometer. Stick it into the thickest part of the thigh. Take foil off the last 30 -45 min. Take out when thermometer says 185 degrees and leave to rest on the counter covered in foil for 15-30 min depending on the size. The rest redistributes the juices. Heat will still penetrate deeper to get to the desired safe 190 degrees. I cut the entire breasts off both sides of the carcass, lay flat on a cutting board and slice into 1/4 inch beautiful slices. Keep the slices together and lay on your turkey tray/plate. I leave the drumsticks whole for looks and debone the thighs for dark meat. Easy to serve. White meat is moist and still hot. Goodluck
  11. Checked Wiki. You might be right but the green stuff is awfully tiny. Looks more like algae to me
  12. Wow. Not too surprised. Then add in low waterflow mid summer and winter when less crap is flushed out to Erie I'd be drinking bottled water
  13. Blame in part the birth control hormones in the sewage systems. Good thing I still have a deep voice
  14. I'm born and raised on TO. Wouldn't live there but love to visit. If you want real action, take your woman to Manhatten for a weekend.
  15. North end of Pigeon. For the last month or more. Lots of wind blown, bright green small clumps of plant life on the surface. Don't remember it last year. Anybody know what this is. Sorry, no pic peter
  16. Wow! That would be a huge help but when I take mechanical things apart, there are usually parts left over after reassembly
  17. I've always been told that a vertical outboard will not be a problem in the winter
  18. Lots of charter guys down there. Small or party boats. Went 2 yrs ago but were unable to go out due to winds. They seem to catch a lot and variety
  19. Couple of nice girls, Lew. You look like you were trolling pretty fast. What speed were you going?
  20. Great articles. I guess within 10 yrs they will be all along the Kawarthas. Any impact by them in Rice Lake from those who know? Should take out some zebra mussels. That would decrease water clarity. 'Eyes would like that. However they'll eat a pile of eggs.
  21. Just wondering. Since gobies are in Simcoe, does anybody know how far east they've spread? peter
  22. Watched a 2 minute dogfight between a Bald Eagle and a seagull on Pigeon. The eagle got close several times but the seagull became exhausted and had to ditch in the water a few times for a second. Then it abruptly ended. Not sure if the eagle wanted the seagull or a fish the gull had. Didn't see one. Amazing
  23. I hear the point and shoots are being phased out. replaced by phone cameras. I use a Canon P&S on the boat for fish but just bought a Nikon D5100 SLR for everything else. The Nikon takes incredible pictures and is not complicated to use in auto. $900 with a 18-105 zoom lens. Incredible HD video too. peter
  24. Excellent report! Never herd of this place before
  25. Trolling with braid will let you know if your lure has any weeds. Even a small amount. You can feel everything. Down here in S. Ont, we need all the help we can get. I tried 10lb Fireline Crystal last week and found it pretty good.
