  10. Thanks Guys. I usually jump on these things. Problems tend to get worse and more costly to repair. it is however a huge pain to take the boat out of the water to a marine tech. Stonefish, is there a downside if I don't get that shaft bushing looked after soon?
  11. you better pick the right day in a kayak. that's big water
  12. Dilution dilution dilution
  13. Launched out of Fitzroy 10 yrs ago. 100 yds off boat launch, hit a big unmarked rock. Ruined the weekend. Water levels fluctuate due to hydro dam changes Beware
  14. Noticed an intermittent, not too loud shshshsh noise coming from my 2007 engine. Hear it at idle usually after coming off plane. Maybe during higher RPMs too. Makes no difference whether in gear or not. Can last for a minute. Then disappears. Otherwise runs like a clock. Put my ear to the engine. Seems to be coming from the middle below the block equally on both sides. 4 yrs ago a smashed her on a shoal. Had to replace the midsection because was bent. Done by a Yammy tech. Been perfect since. Any idea what this could be? Can I wait or should she be looked at soon? I know the fuel pump and reservoir are in there. Any advice would be much appreciated
  15. casting jigs all weekend. My new Symetre's bale flips back on it's own from the movement of a hard cast. Happens maybe 5-10% of the time. sudden stop to that cast and wasted time. Anybody know how to fix this problem?
  16. Thanks for taking the time LR. Stuff everyone should know. Even classy accommodations are not immune Beware
  17. I've been asking you guys re a new prop. Dinged one blade and thought I better get a new one and repair the old one for a spare Yammy 115. Lund 17.5 ft. Original prop 13.25 x 17P 3 blade Holeshot was slow fully loaded and WOT 6200 lightly loaded. Jamie at Kawartha Prop in Buckhorn recommended a Solas 12.75 in 17p 4 blade prop Better hole shot. Drops RPM from 4000 rpm to 3500 rpm at 20 mph. Top speed down to 41 from 42 WOT 5800. I am happy. Very helpful at Kawartha Prop. $173. (Canadapropeller.com $149 + $25 delivery) At Kawartha, they said I can exchange to a different one if not happy. great service.
  18. If you think of it, there is no dying of old age for all but perhaps the top predators Everybody gets eaten. Mice, rabbits deer, most fish. Getting eaten alive ain't easy. Especially being grabbed by an osprey, taken to a tree top, and get ripped apart alive. So when I keep a fish for the table and bonk it when it comes out of the live well. I don't feel too bad. Have to admit I don't like using minnows. Casting those little guys thru the air with a hook in their mouths.
  19. Gonna get a new aluminum prop this weekend from Kawartha Prop in Buckhorn. Been looking on line. Can get several brands for about $150 (13 in x 19p) Would rather buy local. perhaps they would exchange in case got the wrong one. Not sure what brands they carry. Likely don't carry junk. Any brands to be avoided?
  20. Fraser River for a 6 ft sturgeon. On my bucket list
  21. There's no muskies in the Ottawa
  22. muskies beware!
  23. Good to hear. thanks
  24. So Guys. Help me out. Am I right that everytime you reel in with a spinning reel you impart a slow twist to the line? I'm guessing that when you cast, that twist doesn't unwind. So why is it that after many days of hundreds of casts, I don't get a significant line twist. Mind you I've only used braid for years. Must be worse for mono or fluoro. So what gives?
