  1. Why did they take the video down? Rather suspicious.
  2. Depends heavily on the park. I know a season at the local conservation areas here is about $1200 annually.. but probably much higher into cottage country..
  3. HT makes reels with the angle adjustment, great for jigging. My problem has been dropping my reels in slush or water and running for another rod, I'm oiling them after every trip!
  4. I can wait for bass, but I've definitely just about had enough ice fishing!
  5. Oh thats cool, 3 years after everyone evolved, blackberry almost made a phone that can compete with android. Almost.
  6. Yes, that sounds very governmental.. we can make MORE money if we instill GRADUATED boat licensing! Lol
  7. Salt in a ziploc bag. If you're doing big bait, you really cant over salt. I have bags of shads that look like bags of clumped salt... Shake em up and sure enough there's shads in there. Haha
  8. They have to actually be using those things. Lol it's not just a free pass to get loaded cuz you have a porta potty closed off from your hut and a blanket on the floor.
  9. Drinking on the ice and driving back home afterward would be a couple..
  10. When is that if you dont mind me asking? I've never fished the reservoir but a friend and I want to try it... and he loves tournaments.
  11. Gulp minnows catch fish like crazy, of all sizes. I've never been able to go to the CTC rack and pick up a more reliable bait for lots of bites for almost any species. Panfish, crappies, bass, pike, steelhead, even caught carp on em. The Gulp nightcrawlers worked OK for me. I bought the floating ones specifically for harness fishing... In this case, nothing beats live.
  12. I fish them in a boat all through spring as shore access to good spots is often limited.
  13. I have ... Not quite as good as a real crawler but it works.
  14. Well, I don't carp fish that way... I've tossed bags of corn in where there are no fish. If they aren't close enough to smell it, you're outta luck. Either way, cool stuff.
  15. Dude, I aint no pro, but I ice fish a heck of a lot. And that was certainly not a bad day. Thanks for sharing!
  16. Renewed online late dec, still carrying the printout in a ziploc baggy. I've had friends who waited up to 4 months before receiving their card. This is the longest I've ever personally waited.
  17. So... You're literally parked in one spot all day? Sounds like 60% of the challenge of tournament fishing (finding fish) has been taken care of for you. Or worse yet, is chosen based on convenience, not abundance of fish? I'd say whoever gets the best spot prettyy much guarantees the win... Im not trying to be rude or belittle or mock, im just confused. I'd be hard pressed to pay into something where I cant even choose or move my spot.. that's a big deal and is completely unnecessary in north america.. Once again, I just want clarification if possible, how is pole position decided? At random? Thanks for the post, i knew nothing of carp tournaments happening in ontario until you posted.
  18. I meant this particular lake. There was a gaping open spot that took forever to freeze and stayed around 2" of ice until yesterday, apparently. Lol People were nuts. I dunno how many snowmobiles were ripping around while I was still tied to a tree and death gripping my ice picks.
  19. It would have been a pretty boring video. No ice cracks, no fish either. Lol Apparently the 4 days of -20 nights countered the snow cover, there was almost 6" of black stuff under the snow blanket out there. The kicker is the fish were 15ft off shore and the long walk was for nothing but viewing aqua vu scenery. Lol
  20. I've never caught anything in LPB canals through the ice. Before, and immediately after ice, they are loaded with fish. I don't get it.
  21. I think I'll screw a couple of my hut anchors in the 6"+ area and tie to them, if need be. It's sunday though and I'm sure there will be others out who have pushed it already. How nobody has gone through this season is beyond me.
  22. I'm headed out ice fishing today, will be solo the first four hours. There are spots I know I can fish safely that had 6"+ of black ice before the snow. However the pike grounds were at about 2.5" before about two feet of heavy snow fell. I'm worried the weight of the snow may weaken the ice further out. Then again, it may have slushed down from ice fishing pressure and may now be 12" of ice. Whaddaya think? Should I wait til afternoon to push it when I have a friend to keep watch (possibly hold the rope)? Or do you think the ice will be okay?
  23. My rule is if I can get both arms into the suit and up to my chest with a t-shirt on, its the right size for layered ice fishing. One piece may fit less comfortable but its all sealed and much warmer if you fall through or not!
  24. Haha, trying to put my dog in a canoe full of gear that picture would be a pic of a tipped canoe and a lotta wet gear! Welcome to the site and thanks for the report.
