  1. I actually don't know the name of the place we're going. Some infamous bay. I really don't care about the distance, just would rather not be foot dragging buddy's otter several km's...
  2. How far of a walk would it be? Hope this does not break the code of asking too much info publicly. This is simply to plan whether to pack heavy or light.. (which hut to bring if any).. never done it before.
  3. Not if the entire waterbody's depth is less than 5 feet. A creek may alleviate pressure with slow flow. Otherwise, water pressure builds as ice builds.. it takes really serious temps to get beyond its mean freeze point. There is a small pond near here that averages 1" all winter long while bigger ponds nearby are 8-10". It took two days of -20 to give it 3 inches. When temps raised to -5, i could throw a rock through it again. Too bad. It'd be a fun place nearby to catch a bunch of bluegills if nothing else. Lol
  4. The shallower than 6ft it is the less ice it will accumulate..
  5. My personal rule is, if it isn't at least 6 feet deep at its deepest point, dont bother ice fishing.
  6. I started ice fishing with the same finder sir.. it was the best one i ever used. And yes it has to at least be laying flat on the surface of the water. In real clear, smooth, black ice, my transducer used to read through the ice.. no holes! My new ones won't do that.
  7. I half agree. Charlie's show is great for people who prefer to fish that way. He is a human billboard so I dunno how anyone could say they like the lack pf advertising. Our running joke when I was growing up was "oh look, the Luhr Jensen show is on!" His show doesn't interest me personally as I don't fish his methods or spots. What I do like is that he sticks to community holes. No secrets. I caught the fish ob such and such lake, looking for the following structure - this is how a fishing show SHOULD be. So you can actually learn something watching it, unlike fnc or the others who just promote a lodge the whole show.
  8. Well cormorants arent edible, so that would be completely different in every way.
  9. The protests do not put native rights in question, so why are they so busy defending them? Shouldn't they be proving their point instead?
  10. Seems rather senseless. Can't believe people would defend this.. no matter what your opinion, this is pretty black and white. Definitely illegal, anyway. Irishfield would you use the cormorant comparison if it was a pile of dead, snagged, rotten walleye carcasses left to spoil?
  11. It's easy to say you don't need handouts when you're a celebrity.
  12. I've had closed eye baits that do run straight though.. they gotta be much heavier than a dinky bass spinnerbait though. Lol
  13. It's highly likely that any big box grocery chain would send that back to the warehouse for a credit anyway. It will eventually find it's way to makeup companies or shoddy discount fish markets.
  14. Bahahahahahahaha!!
  15. Definitely true.. when I fish the bay with spinnerbaits the bite is a half second stop of the blades turning..
  16. Okay, whatever. Lol im just a butcher who trains food safety weekly.
  17. So can I pay a premium rate for better rescue services? This is somewhat similar to the privatization of emergency services. Only instead of a company making the money, the government is.
  18. If I was the dude who wrote that on your hut wall, I'd be so proud of myself right now. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
  19. Would you do that with chicken thighs? Poultry/fish possess the same dangers of salmonella and E.coli and yes they are far more common than admitted from said situations ... Like fish freezing, thawing, then being re-frozen. Blood goes bad when it thaws... Fast.
  20. So basically just dont leave your house or you owe the government money then. Oh and don't stay in your house either.
  21. As long as the blood does not thaw and get into the meat. It will coagulate (sp?) and you will get sick my friend. Cut the heads off & gut, as soon as you pull em out, and eat em.
  22. Try frozen sardines from the grocery store under a balloon or huge bobber.
  23. Does the OFAH Angler Insurance cover this?
