  1. No no, i'm wrong. And your desperation to prove that everytime I write a word it is wrong terminology, spelling, grammar, all that stuff that is irrelevant; is ridiculous. Grow up.
  2. Oh jesus, i am SO sorry. Wow. What a huge messup I made here. Worst mistake of my life. I'll just slit my wrists now. Guess that old timer that taught me how to do it on the banks of the big just didnt have his terminology correct. Dont worry tho, next time I see him I'll knock his haggered patootie out for teaching me disturbingly incorrect terminology.
  3. Dude I know you steelhead 100x more in a year than me, but that doesnt mean there are black and white rules on how to do things. A spey on any line is still a spey, and if presented the same with a fly rod , or a stick and string, doesnt matter, it is still spey fishing.
  4. Never got any residents doing it. Maybe cuz I dont use a split shot.
  5. I dont mind if the crappy weather comes while I'm at work.
  6. Youtube 'Action Angling' sir, still plenty of vids out there, I just cant take the criticism of posting them on public forums anymore. Haha There's a lot of people who still think I'm a 17 yr old kid here.
  7. The Ugly stik "lite" edition is much lighter. Yes still heavier than a lot of the rods out there but definitely light enough to float with all day if need be.
  8. Lol. Well I do it with a 6'6 baitcast setup and that works fine. My bad. This technique only works in relatively small creeks. If your river is huge, for sure you need fly gear cuz nothing else will get the fly out there. Flip, drift, strip. You do not need a fly rod.
  9. Kind of like digging up internet posts from 8 yrs ago that nobody else remembers eh? Dont use the term with all due respect if you have none for me. Sorry I disagree that musky are the supreme ultimate man fish. Guess my focus is a passion on FISHING .
  10. A 9' xtra lite action ugly stik lite? Im sorry but the only unbelievable thing about swinging speys on that is that it's too long.
  11. I have fished muskies, both kawartha and also those st clair pseudo-skies. I know what they're all about. And I've caught plenty too. I'd dig up pics to prove, but really i have no interest or reason to prove that to you. And they are harder to FIND, easy to catch. I bet you'd smirk and laugh if I said I dedicate my time to sunfish angling. Kinda how I feel when the musky guys start to act elite.
  12. Or just dont get caught. It sounds bad, but.. if you show up, disturb nothing, leave nothing, and have a great time... Sounds pretty harmless?
  13. I just wait until a new fisherman is born at work. It seems every year there is a newbie to fishing at my work looking for advice and equipment. I've hooked a lotta people up over the years there. Most recently I gave a tackle box and two rods to a friend who was interested in fishing as an activity for himself and his brother, who is physically handicapped from the waist down. I cant even explain how rewarding it is when he shows me pictures of his brother with a smile ear to ear, holding a big carp or a bunch of perch.
  14. Welcome aboard fellow addict!
  15. Ahh, okay. When I broke into steelheading a few years ago with a similar attitude to the old ironworker, I wanted the same thing. and honestly, I've had a bunch, but I'd reccomend the ugly stik lite steelhead/salmon rods. Near indestructible, competitively light, and can pretty well handle it all. I've had mine for 6 yrs. The only thing its not great for is speys, or float fishing. But will do those things.
  16. Anything light enough to properly float fish will bust if you try chucking spoons on it... Trust me
  17. The musky guys really make me laugh. Just because there are less muskies in existence, does not make them a more challenging fish than bass, walleye, perch or gobies. C'mon musky guys, your fish literally eats anything. He aint so tough. And there's a 30% chance with the best care and equipment your fish will die. All fish deserve respect. None are more challenging than any other, but then again you will never know that until you fish for them all. Lets put it this way. If I walk up to the bank of the lake, throw a minnow under a bobber out, and catch a musky.. does that mean I went musky fishing, and now fully understand the experience? Nope. Just like if you catch a bass or walleye on a musky bait.
  18. Yes. After January's pike and crappies I switch to carp and cats. After a month or so I switch to pike. After that I switch to bass. Occasionally I switch to trout, salmon or walleye.
  19. Do you want it for float fishing, bottom bouncing, hardware, drifting, or speys? Cuz ya pretty much need a seperate rod for each application.

    FATTY!

Not even close to the biggest, but probably one of the fattest carp I've ever landed! Haha. What do you think? Eggs or just fat full of spring food?
  21. Just one of those days that goes right. First warm day of the year, and it sure was, provided we kept out of the wind. Good times. We caught all sorts of panfish, and all decent fish. No giants, but crappies in the 10-11" range like nothing, 8" bluegills were an annoyance, and the odd perch came to visit. Awesome day on some protected little pits to kick off spring.
  22. Go with your gut. Ignore the other anglers. Look at the lake as a new lake every time, and pretend you're the only boat there. Where you think there is bass, there is. Find a way to catch them. Don't move until you're you've exhausted every technique you can think of. Have confidence in every cast. Good luck!
  23. Nice! Hope to get some myself mid week. Only a few dinks here and there so far for me.
  24. Yeah, pretty common ruling. If it's navigable, you can fish it in your canoe. Or get out and wade. Your canoe can never touch bottom.
  25. Now whoever owns it is certainly NEVER coming to get it.
