  1. Play it safe and wait for warmer temps. More chance of clothing being peeled off.
  2. I'm definitely interested, but won't know about my availability until late in the week. Hope I can get out there too.
  3. Carp

    New Toy!

Nothing like capturing the moment on film. Can't wait for some of the upcoming videos Richard.
  4. I use the Canon S2. It does a fine job, but not an slr camera. The S3 is avalable, but the only difference I noticed right away is that it has 6mp as opposed to the S2's 5mp. Canon and Nikon are good bets for quality Tracy. When I bought my S2 last summer, they were rated 1 & 2 on the market. Canon had the best processors and second best lenses. Nikon had the best lenses and second best processors. At least that's the info I read and heard. Good luck with the new camera.
  5. Sounds like fun Wayne. Bring us back some pics. (no, no, not the naked Irish dude part of the trip. ) Have fun and be careful.
  6. Thanks for sharing eyefish. Those wallys look yummy
  7. Nice shooting Smokey. Beauty eyes. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Exactly Wayne. - No second mortgage to buy tickets - No line ups to get into the arena. - No line ups for the toilet. - No line ups for concession stands. - I can eat whatever I want at grocery store prices. - I can drink whatever I want at grocery, liquour and beer store prices - My sofa is 100 x more comfy than a seat at the arena. - I get all the replays from every angle. - I can switch to another game (Raptors, etc.) during the intermission if I want. - I don't have to worry about parking/transportation. - When the game is over, I'm already home. - ....and I keep the laptop on the end table so I can surf the OFC while watching the game.
  9. Good to hear huts are moving out to the fishing grounds. For a while it didn't look good. More cold temps coming Sun & Mon. Thanks for the report slyatv.
  10. Good stuff Gerritt. Enjoy the game. The good guys are playing some decent hockey lately. Hope they keep it up and get everyone healthy. They're really missing Peca on the penalty killing, but you do what you can with what you have. Cheers Cliff, I know what you mean about the ticket prices. Toronto is my favourite team and always has been. I lived in Toronto for 28 years and now in neighbouring Mississauga for 10 years. I've never seen a Leafs game live. I did see them live once. Spent $10/ticket to see the team skills competition around the time of the all star game a few years ago.
  11. Welcome to the OFC bowshep. Try sending a message to dwc67 about Lady Evelyn Lake. He camps and fishes up there and could probably give you some info. Good luck.
  12. There were cars and trucks on Cook's Bay last weekend. Some people are just asking for trouble. Reports say 7/8 inches of ice as of last weekend. I'd like twice that before driving on.
  13. Lost the touch Richard ??? No worries bud. Keep at it. The fish will come.
  14. I remember years ago, I was in my early teens and my dad hooked a nice laker. Got it up to an 8" hole and it was gaffed and pinned sideways across the hole. Ice was about 20 inches thick, making it very difficult to manouver the head into the hole. We drilled another hole right beside the first. Once near the end, we switched to an ice chisle and knocked out the remaining bit of ice at the bottom of the hole and chipped at the edges until the fish got through. 15 lb. laker was the result. We've had a 10" power auger for the last 20 years and I wouldn't go back, unless fishing smaller lakes for small fish. Then I can see the 8" manual coming in handy since the power auger is heavy to carry unless you have transportation. I drill 4 holes overlapping them then chip out the rest to make square holes approx. 15 inches square for dads ice hut.
  15. No sense in taking chances. Ice is definitely thin on laker and whitefish grounds. We don't want to hear about you going for an unexpected swim. A few more cold nights should do it.
  16. Thanks for the report and pics Clampet. Looks like a good time. One of these days I'll get out there.
  17. Bonehead move. Doing a story on dangers of thin ice and go through yourself.
  18. I remember the glare too Kirk. Now that we do have the third, she just threatens divorce if I mention the possibility of #4. I'm happy my wife still lets me work in the garden, but she says I already have too many vegetables and won't let me plant any more seeds. Congradulations Kirk and Anna.
  19. $200 each Gerrit ? This is our friend Cliff. I think we can wave any service fees on this one. It would be an extreme pleasure to help you out Cliff, free of charge. I've been through similar situations a couple of times and even though being angry and frustrated is very easy, I didn't let it get to me. Just looked at it as a sign to move on to something better.
  20. I acually don't use plastics often, but if they're well used and abused, they end up in the trash.
  21. No worries Stan. You'll figure those walleye out soon enough. As mentioned, at least you got out there. I'm still waiting for the first ice trip of the season.
  22. Very nice colours on that fish. Looks more like a brookie than a splake. Thanks for the report.
  23. Small fish is better than no fish. Glad to hear people are getting out and finally doing some ice fishing. I would have thought there would be more than 4 or 5 inches of ice. Good luck next trip.
  24. Very nice. Glad you two got into some fish Aaron. I'll be out there soon.....I hope,
