  1. The size of these things it's everyone in the area's backyard whether you own the land or not. Lease? more like a bribe, everyone has a price, especially farmers who have an increasingly difficult time of making a go of it on the family farm. BTW I hear the next site for wind turbines is a string of them 1/4 mile offshore between Beamsville and Port Dalhousie I don't hunt anymore, age related health issues, but it pains me to see places that have good memories for me fall to such questionable technology. Edit: do you really think they would not go in even if everyone refused to lease their land?
  2. Steve...I 've hunted many of the fields from the mid 60's on that are now wind turbine sites in West Lincoln and Wainfleet . Not much point in going back to them now, setting goose decoys in the shadow of one of those monstrosities isn't my cup of tea.
  3. Why the Harper sniping??? it's provincial , talk about agenda and ulterior motive .
  4. A good spottting scope can spot 22 calibre holes at 200 yds., I've seen a few chronograph screens hit by bullets over the years and these are more expensive ( ie. more likely to hake a hit ), I've never taken out my Chrony, touch wood. Besides a spotting scope has many uses away from the range, for the same or less cash.
  5. Most the time I drive by the ones here they are motionless or barely moving, I sincerely doubt they are recouping the cost in 3 years. Southern Ontario in general is a less than ideal location , best locations here is a relative term. What they are is a highly visible blight on the rural landscape and a the perfect smokescreen for politicians and the Liberal government to point at and boast " Look at what we are doing for the environment " I just hear a low whirring noise, see an eyesore and dead migratory birds. Keep drinking that red koolaid
  6. Saw this recently, seems it is not too far from the truth http://www.snopes.com/wind-idiot-power/
  7. After 15 years of Bell Satellite and 5/1 DSL service , we made the switch to Bells Fiber , ended up being cheaper even after the promo period and the internet is 25 down and the tv is slightly better image wise, plus it don't go out in heavy precipitation and wet snow don't stick to the dish anymore. Personally , after having played with Kodi or Netflix on a good high speed connection I'd put an antenna back up for local and forget about sat or cable. Unfortunately if you are like us and like your sports , I've not found satisfactory feeds over the net, both in quality and consistency for games.
  8. Isn't that how we got in this mess in the first place? For years we got our power at an artificially low, subsidized rate. Now we are paying for the past.
  9. Actually muskies don't taste any better than sheephead and silver bass and the fish police have a hissy fit if you do keep one, even if it makes the size restriction.
  10. I had the first few deer I got professionally butchered, but then I found that I preferred to bone them out myself after that, here is a good video that is close to how I do it.
  11. Thanks for that Brian, Jeff Healey Band unplugged, never saw that one. I see it is Eagle Vision , so there must be a DVD of that show somewhere,, have to hunt it down. The organ and back up singers are new to me too , at least that early in his career.
  12. If everyone flushes twice, it would be diluted to 50% I actually ran waste water treatment for a steel processing plant for 5 years

  14. they seriously don't want a Canadian team in the world series
  15. Same with Mike Harris , people didn't really think he was going to do what he said he would, he surprised them. I had hoped when he stepped down mid 2nd term and Ernie Eves took over meant he was going to take a run at Federal Conservative Leader, wish he had.
  16. I'm 65, my elders way back used to have a theory that you voted opposite federally versus provincially, opposing forces would kinda cancel each other out. But then again, that was when you could predict Party Policy, not this outflanking each other on the left free for all.
  17. There used to be a lot of FUDDS there , they are learning.
  18. My wife has not worked a day since we got married in the late 90's, also a step daughter grown up now, yes an old style traditional family , income splitting helps my meager pension go a lot further. People making 90 grand crying they want a tax reduction,
  19. Why is some one earning 90 grand getting a tax reduction
  20. I get up when the dog and cats decide it's time for breakfast , usually around 5, you'd think with it getting daylight later they wait a bit , swear they can read the clock . Thank god for afternoon naps.
  21. As a guitarist Jeff's name should be spoken with the same reverence as Jimi , Eric ,SRV and others. Hendrix took the Dylan tune " All Along the Watchtower " to a special place , Jeff takes this Dylan tune to an equally special place and Canadian to boot eh !
  22. Grandpa in the popcorn business ???
  23. Hope she torpedoes Trudeau's ship before the election and yes gotta be nice to the teachers so they keep educating our kids to be good little Liberals when they grow up.
  24. Half of it is already, but the Lieberals are giving the unknowing Canadian public the idea that it is not. The backdoor registry through sales is disturbing, nowhere does the firearms advisory mention gun owners but health care and womens groups are included, maybe they should be be involved in fisheries management too , and The United Nation Treaty thing is the worst, that outfit is a joke . EDIT: UN Treaty http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/election/justin-trudeau-promises-to-sign-global-arms-treaty-1.2599194
