  1. Those are some sweet lakers there MB, and congrats on your first brown. A great report, as always. Happy New Year
  2. I always wanted to buy an Organ from "Tex & Edna Boil's" Organ Emporium. Especially when they were giving away a free budgie with every organ. I met John Candy at a bar twenty years ago. He was drinking out of a glass the size of a goldfish bowl. It was like he was Johnny LaRue. Enjoy your collection.
  3. Thank you TJ, and all the MODS, for what you do for all of us. Enjoy tonight everyone, and hope to meet as many of you as I can in the coming year.
  4. For me it's all about kayak fishing. Last year I got 4 muskies in the yak, but all of them were under 36". I'd like a 40" plus in the yak, as well as a channel cat over 10lbs.
  5. I was 4 and I caught a sunfish with my Dad at Alder lake in New Dundee. I remember he found a garter snake in the rocks, he grabbed it and brought it over to show me. I was terrified it was going to kill him. In 5 minutes I was holding it myself. I have loved fishing and snakes ever since. Caught a nice 5lb walleye with my Grandpa when I was 8. That was my first game fish of any size.
  6. Congrats on the new fishing machine Pinch. I see it's a Hobie, has it got the Mirage drive system (pedals), or is it a paddle power only? Where did you get it? How much? I've been checking out the Hobie Outback with the Mirage drive on line. I like the idea of powering it by feet, leaving my hands free for fishing.
  7. Fishing? Yes, I suppose you could call it fishing. The Impaler and I are going on our yearly ritual on New Years Day. We go to a nearby conservation area where they lower the water by 8 - 10ft. Then we hit the stump fields looking for snagged lures. After replacing the hooks and split rings, they are ready to go. These lures are already lucky, because we found them and they're free, so our confidence in them is high.
  8. I work for a local commercial heat-treater. I work in both aluminum and molten salt baths. We do agricultural and auto parts. We have done everything from buggy springs for the Mennonites to parts for aerospace like the Canada-arm on the space shuttle.
  9. I'm a Krown guy. Have been for years. I'm always driving older vehicles so I believe it really makes the body of the car last. They are the only ones who drill holes so they can get to all inside areas of your body. If you want it to last, start Krown as soon as your warranty allows.
  10. I received 2 Slopmaster spinnerbaits and a Slopmaster buzzbait. But I'll trade you a finger for that FJ Cruiser, Bucktail.
  11. Both these pics have been posted before, but they certainly qualify. The Shipper's first musky, the infamous cancer musky, caught in Pigeon in 03. And my crooked salmon from Bronte pier in 05.
  12. My new fave is ELF. Ed Asner makes a great Santa, James Caan is the perfect Scrooge and Will Ferrell is awesome as the extra large Elf.
  13. Well at least you got out. Shade's does open for ice fishing, if the ice gets thick enough. Try it with the canoe again in the spring, or wait till bass opens in late June. It is small enough that you can fish the whole lake in 4 hrs.
  14. I have 2 C4's, a 5600 and a 6500. I've been very happy with them over the past 5 yrs. I've heard that they don't hold up in the long run but I only use them for musky fishing, and I only musky fish about 5 or 6 days a year. The high retreive ratio makes them great for burning bucktails just under the surface and that's pretty much the way I fish the 5600. The 6500 I use for trolling because of the increase in line capacity.
  15. Another great report, and good on ya for releasing them back to spawn more of the same. The big ones don't taste as good anyway. When I spent a few days at Quinte, several years back, you could see the colour of the meat changed from white to pinkish when the fish were bigger than 3.5lbs.
  16. In the Sportspal or kayak, I've had luck with small jig & grub combos for crappie. Any of the usual suspects work for pike. Spinners, spinnerbaits, spoons, minnow baits and soft plastics. Never tried from shore. Work your way past the beach and into the trees for some deeper access and wood structure (stumps and logs). Good luck.
  17. I have a good luck charm. This guy! He's a happymeal toy that came along in the boat on a family outing to a local conservation area. When my daughter got bored, she'd play with Mikey. He's stayed in the boat box (along with a jar of bubbles) for years until I set him up in the front of the boat. Kinda like a hood ornament. Mikey is also good for holding fish that are so small, you're too embarassed to appear in the pics yourself. And for holding musky lures, making them look more impressive. Give em a thumbs up Mikey.
  18. Hey kennyman, there are pike at the conservation area and crappie too. I've not had any pike over 24" or any crappie over 9", but that doesn't mean that there not in Shade's, it just means I can't catch em. I'm wondering, are you fishing from shore?
  19. Nicely done, and a WGSF each to top it off. Another great report.
  20. Hey Bill, I agree with you about stopping the ice season a Scugog, but this year mother nature may take care of that for you. If guys go out this year, there will definately be stories in the paper about guys going swimming in the Bog.
  21. Have a good one yourself UB. And a merry merry to all the OFC'ers.
  22. Why doesn't an OFC'er just catch a 70lb'er in G-Bay or the Larry, and then the arguement will be over? I'm sure the gang in Wisconsin would love that
  23. Here's what you need Joey, it's called the Earthroamer, and it's based on the Ford F-550 platform. http://www.earthroamer.com/main_truck/vehicles.html
  24. I'm worried my BRUINS might go into a slump, they don't play the LEAFS again until New Years Day.
  25. Hey snag, here's a link to a forum of kayak fishing only. Loads of great stories and helpful tips for kayak fishermen. http://kfs.infopop.cc/groupee/forums
