  1. I recommend Al as listed in one of the prior posts. Al lives on the lake, and knows it very well.
  2. Sounds like my best bet would be to skip it. Oh, that hurts. It will be after dark before I would get there so I think it may be wiser to stay off. Thanks for the input guys, you may have just saved me a soaker.
  3. Heading up to the london area on business from Monday to Wednesday, I see a Fanshawe Lake up that way. Is there any icefishing opportunities on this lake. I just want to know if I should bring my gear, or leave it at home. Thanks.
  4. I picked up a couple of the St. Croixs at BPS. There is no reason you can't attach one of your summer reels to it, save some cash for other gear. 6lb mono is my choice, don't get fooled by ice line, it all freezes up. I like to start with the biggest hole possible (Jiffy 10"). I fish in some nasty cold and blowing snow. The smaller the hole the faster it becomes unfishable because of ice and snow build up. On alot of ocassions I start with a 10" hole but by the end of the day it's a 4" hole. Start big is my advice.
  5. WTG Johnny. I know it hasn't benn from lack of trying. The curse is broken, be ready for limiting from here on in.
  6. I have had the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 for a year now. I have never missed a photo because of my camera freezing. I have dropped it on numerous ocassions, no ill-effect to the unit. The underwater photos are great, make amazing release shots like this one.
  7. I ordered mine last year from Whitby Marina. Had it in the next day.
  8. Remember that crappie feed looking up. This means short leader from your float. If you have 3 ft under your float you will only catch Sunfish and perch, make sure your presentation is in the top 1/3 of the water column.
  9. I would search out the crappie instead of the perch. Once your onto them, your on them good. Alot better fight then the perch IMO. Look for areas that the water warms up the fastest. Structure, cane, tribs.
  10. Two weeks today and counting.
  11. I fought with the decission on whether to buy a tonneu cover or a cap. I decided to go with the cap, and that has proven time and time again to be the right choice. Having a cap doubles the amount of gear I can carry. Not only that but I feel they are much more secure then a cover. Looks good to.
  12. I've heard most were caught using large minnows with a float. I only use live bait on the ice, so i haven't tried them. Casting with firetiger and perch pattern in a 10 - 12 sized suspender slowly has also seen results.
  13. The west side is open for sure. There is some ice hanging around the middle still. I saw a boat fishing it while I was casting on Thursday.
  14. Went to cast this area last wekend and it was still frozen where I wanted to fish. It will also cost you to park in the parking lot . BRUTAL, the Town of Whitby should be ashamed of themselves. Charging people to park at the marsh, what a way to get families there to learn about the environment. I tried the end of Brock last weekend and didn't see any caught. My buddy had a small hammerhandle follow but no commit. Also try other marinas off the lake with bays. Click on googlemaps and do some research. There are alot of places to try. Do this now, you only have two days left to enjoy this opportunity. Tuesday is the last day before the season is closed on pike for a month.
  15. Alot of oxidation on the motor. I would also suspect this motor was sunk. If the outside of the motor wasn't taken care of better , i could only imagine what the internal parts hold for you. If it was me, I think I would walk away from this one. I also notice it's going to need a new prop with that chunk missing from it.
