  1. I'm usually that last one off the ice when walleye fishing.... The bite does slow down but there are plenty of fish to catch..... I figured this out once I got my sonar.... The "run" came through like normal... But then with the sonar I kept seeing a walleye every 10-20 minutes come in... Then I kept going through different presentations till I could get these less active fish to bite.... Some nights I would be on the ice till after 10pm when everyone else went in at 6pm....
  2. As long as Biodegradable is ok I think it's good...
  3. I was disgusted to see the runoff from the "snow dump" the other day... This snow dump is literally right at the waterfront.., from the bridge you could see different colored water covering about 2 football fields of area... It made me wonder... Couldn't the snow dump be further from the water so the ground can filter the water a bit....? Or is that 6 of one and half a dozen of the other...?
  4. Possibly But the timing and moisture of the mix are key to it performing well... It has to be made 6+ hours before use... But no more then say 24 hours or else the properties I want start to go away.... I'm worried freezing it may ruin the effects of the bait... I figured I'd get the same answer here as I did on google... Crystallization will happen and warm it to liquefy.... The joys of honey.... I guess I'll just buy fresh next year as I need it...
  5. You might get into some panfish.... I fish a few creeks/creek mouths around here
  6. So... I use honey in my carp bait.... So while I was stocking my spring carp supplies I got a few liters of honey from "Bulk Barn". Well today I noticed it was completely solid.... I've been reading up on this and its normal I guess.... But I was wondering if there is a way to keep it in its liquid form... I've already heated it back to its original state... So is there anything I can do to keep it a liquid or is the heat till it liquifies method before I need it the best method....??? Thanks
  7. Never hurts to try electrical contact cleaner spray... Might be the best $5 you ever spend... Just give both male and female connections a good soaking and leave to dry before testing it out...
  8. I like him... I think he's got a good show.... And he does casting shows.... But in reality some anglers are almost exclusively trollers.... Like myself... So I enjoy his program
  9. Awesome cake My wife makes me some cool cakes and she loved this one
  10. I had a 25 2 stroke on my old 14 footer... It wasn't wide and deep like the new ones either... Skinny and shallow.... No physical problems.... But that was the scariest boat I've ever driven....
  11. Sooo If its -30 and I go through a patch of thin ice am I an idiot that should pay....????? Everyone is calling all these people stupid for going out in warm conditions... What about those who go on THIN ice when its cold? Or just hit a thin patch during "optimal" conditions...?
  12. That actually sounds like a really useful training tool... I've always wondered what's worse.... With a suit or without in a vehicle... If I'm driving out I usually suit up on the ice... But just out of convenience.... 30+ minute drive in a float suit sucks... I still don't think a life vest/float suit is buoyant enough to pin me to the roof to the point where I cannot CRAWL out.... I understand you cannot swim down with a vest but I would think i could pull myself down and out... ....
  13. Being out on the ice was his job.... He was prospecting new areas for clients from what I understand.... Luckily it was only one person lost and no more died with him.... Speaking negatively about him being out there is like calling a cop stupid for getting himself shot in the projects.... People take risks with certain jobs.... And he was checking the ice to remove the risk from his clients.... I enjoyed watching all the YouTube videos and Next Bite shows with Jim in them.... He seamed like a great person
  14. Scent is a must.... I've seen walleye reject un scented jigs over and over on the sonar.... Switch to a grub with some stink (Gulp) and those same fish are now biters....
  15. On a 150 I think the four stroke would easily pay you back in gas savings depending on how you fish... and As long as you plan on keeping the boat for a while... And if you don't the 4 stroke will pay you back on resale..... But I'm looking at this as a troller......if I go out for 10 hours my motor runs for 10 hours.... I had a 25 merc 2 stroke and my 50 Yamaha 4 stroke burns around the same as the 25 did in a day....
  16. When I minnow fish most fish seem to hit the tail of the minnow tho... Not head first... Then turn the bait before swallowing it... So me personally... I like eyes up because thats what experience has shown me... When fish are biting like crazy it probably doesn't matter... Nice jigs by the way....
  17. Sooo Care to explain then? We are a trying to learn about props... If your gunna say someone is wrong... You should say WHY he's wrong... So we can learn... Also Anyone that experienced performance gain with a SS prop... Was it the exact same pitch and diameter of your aluminum? Or different specs? ...
  18. From what I understand the more HP the more gain you get with a stainless.... Apparently the prop flexes on high HP motors witch means loss of energy at the prop....
  19. Thanks everyone The dealer ended up throwing in an aluminium prop for free so there was no need to use the stainless I already had.... And he explained that there are no performance gains with a stainless prop on a 50hp...
