  1. Ahhh The love hate relationship we have with quinte.... Slow as heck but too big to ignore... Lol
  2. If you leave ANYTHING plugged in this can happen... Unplug phone chargers... GPS... Etc... Satellite radio got me... Had to jump my truck 1-2 a week for a month before I realized what was happening...
  3. I wonder if they'll be charged for the rescue... Lol... But in all seriousness glad everyone was ok... Scary stuff... Glad they had a cell phone...
  4. Ummmm no 16 degrees Monday... And positive highs for the next 2 weeks... I'll be boating at least till mid December.... Hopefully longer Man I love living on a huge river... Lol
  5. Thanks everyone... Felt good to get back on the e Larry and get some fast action... Took my dad out for what might be our last trip together this year and lit em up... About 20 walleye in 2 hours... All 16-20 inches... Good eaters.... Then got out for 3 hours this afternoon and got 4 more including a double header of 7 pounders...
  6. 30km/h or 18.6 mph seams like a good speed for a 20hp 4 stroke...
  7. We ran Hondas for years... Great motors and amazing on gas...
  8. Headed up to Quinte tues-wed-thurs this week... My biggest goal was at least 1 walleye over 10lbs and I wound consider the trip a success... The weather was nasty... 30km/hr winds pretty much for 3 days straight with some gusts way stronger... Made it challenging to fish in a 16 foot tiller... But we managed... Boated 7 walleye and 2 sheepshead in 3 days fishing... We weren't able to fish a lot of hours per day due to the wind so we were happy with our results... And we landed 2 really big fish... First up a 19 pound sheepshead!!!! And the true trophy of the trip was this fat 12 pound walleye... 30.5"x19" It was a challenging trip and with that weather we all had little patience and short fuses but there were no punches thrown... Lol... But a few hugs after catching that tanker... And several beers to celebrate... Not sure if I'll make it back up this year again but now it's time to get some local piggies... Mike
  9. I can change mine... If it's the right tire... Lol Only time I ever had a flat I went to change to the spare and it was the wrong rim!!!! Guy who owned the truck before me must have swapped the good spare with this junker....
  10. Good survey... Everyone should read and participate
  11. Live bait! Minimum 8" and up... 10-12" is ideal.... Drag em down weed edges... If you have 2-3 guys fishing take turns being the "minnow" guy to warm up your hands... The casters sometimes attract the fish and the minnow finishes the job.
  12. Love those jigging hook sets.... Looks so fun...
  13. My son caught a smallmouth bass the month he turned 2... And at 3 he was able to jig up rock bass in the boathouse by himself... Good for this guy for fighting and winning...
  14. Tried the fireball jigs today in 3/8... Hooking the minnows inside the mouth and out behing the head...Me snd me brother managed 12 in 2 hours... Minnows lasted A LOT LONGER... But I was surprised how soft the hooks were... I mean I don't mess around... I like to get my fish to the boat in a jiffy... By I was surprised that my 6'3" med-light could straighten the hook on a walleye under 20".... Blew my mind... I ended up backing off on the drag and no more issues...
  15. I have a couple of the jigs in link 2... Got them to try a while back and never got around to using them.... I'm more concerned with models... Not weight or color wich eliminate half your criteria... I'm pitching a jig/minnow in river eddies in less then 20 feet of water... Light current... Mixed bottom of sand/gravel/rubble/mussel beds/weeds.... Not concerned about snags at all... Mostly single rocks here and there...
  16. I found some short shank fireball jigs from northland and some VMC stinger hooks at Canadian tire... Gunna try them out and see how they work... Gunna try hooking the minnow like Joey said.... I'll keep an eye out for those higher end jigs you guys mentioned
  17. Hello So the past few years I've learned to love the simplicity of a jig and minnow... Especially when the water is cold... But I don't do it a lot... So to all you anglers that use this technique a lot... What's your favourite jig...? make and model...? How do you like hooking your minnows? Do you bother with a stinger hook? Any other information would be great... We got 20 walleye (most around 16-18 inches) in 2 hours yesterday and it was a blast on light gear and a jig... Not trophies but really fun none the less....
  18. Way to take the road less traveled... As a walmart employee I'd like to thank you...
