  1. Navionics doesn't have everything There are river channels on the st lawrence that aren't on navionics....
  2. I once had a big fish roll in my 36" leader then cut the mainline... Now I use 48"... I use the longest leader I can fit on the rod for the most part...
  3. Don't worry Joey... I fed a pike/musky a handfull of walleye by accident... They were ripping them off my stringer boatside.... Happened on several outings at one particular spot...
  4. Interesting Thanks for posting... This would also effect shore guys... I personally have found that walleye stay very healthy on a stringer (when treated well and hooked on properly...)... I used to used a stringer and I couldn't believe that usually all my fish would be alive after fishing 10+ spots and covering 3-4 miles of river... But my stringer allows the fish to get down 3-4 feet... This gets them outta that warm surface layer... It's also a stringer... Not a rope through the gills...
  5. $5.49 per 1lb tank at Canadian Tire here... Or $1 to refill... You save $4.49 per refill... I use 1-2lbs a day depending on how long I'm out... So that's $4.49-$8.98 a day in savings... That adds up... If my extremities get cold they shut down on me... I've had days my hands couldn't hold my truck keys to start it... I'll even slur my words when my face gets cold... So I almost exclusively fish in a hut with the heater on high...
  6. TSC stores carry them in USA... $20 last I checked.... Another safety precaution is to pour soapy water over the valve when filling is complete to check for leaks... Lots of YouTube videos for this process...(
  7. As far as I know refilling and transporting refilled 1lb tanks is illigal in canada.... But... "I know a guy" that got one of those fittings and has been refilling 1lb tanks for years... No filters... No problems... Used on a portable buddy heater... Just keep in mind the valves on those tanks aren't designed for refilling... My buddy had a tank from ice fishing he forgot in his truck... Got to be 30 degrees outside and the tank leaked propane in his truck.... Since then he treats 1lb propane tanks with more respect...
  8. As a walmart employee... I'm happy But my brother works for target... So it's a bittersweet announcement for me
  9. So it looks like target Canada has announced they're closing up shop... 17,000+ Canadians losing their jobs... Plus the effect on contractors that support the business... One of their 3 distribution centers is in Cornwall where I live and my brother works there as an electrician... This is a big loss for my city... And our country... Sad news
  10. Thanks again guys... Took a 2015 caravan out and my wife fell in love.... Looks like the descision is made... Lol And turns out now that my company was purchased by walmart... And I now work for part of walmart... I get some kind of special deal... I haven't talked to the dealer to see what the special deal is yet... Maybe discount... Maybe free add ons... BONUS!
  11. Set it up in the living room... It's aweful nice... Gunna take my boy out to test it Saturday... I'll give a review
  12. Hello Just picked up an Eskimo quickfish 70"x70" insulated pop up Reg $499 for $299 Canadian tire On sale till the 15th or 16th Now I can take my son (3.5yrs old) out in comfort
  13. Definitely would not work well... You get the same effect as if you loosened your drag.... Too much tension for a float to pull line out...
  14. That's why I'm leaning towards the base model dodge caravan for $20,000 brand new... But the wife wants a few options... And I can't blame her cause she is responsible for the kids 6/7 days of the week... Nor can I argue with MY boat parked in the driveway...lol Hopefully we can get the base with a couple extras thrown in or something... We are checking ford Chevy and dodge this weekend...
  15. Just wondering what TV fishing items you have used... Love em? Hate em? I had the flying lure kit as a kid... Worked good for a kid trying to jig rock bass off a dock... I I currently use and love the "fishing butler" for keeping my 2 piece rods together... Mike
  16. That is super important to me.. That's why I have a ford pickup instead of Chevy... Better feel for a big man... I'm 6'4" 280....
  17. That is one ugly vehicle... Lol Luckily we are more about comfort and fiction then looks... Thanks for the suggestion
  18. I know guys that use em for pike fishing from shore with dead baits...
  19. It can be used like a regular spinning reel... They are popular for carp fishing As the name suggests it's good for feeding bait... Lol There's a switch on the reel with a different drag adjustment for a "free spool" effect... So if you want your fish to "take the bait" and you wanna give him time to eat it... This is a good option..
  20. That traverse looks like a van without the sliding doors... Another option... I guess it'll help if u mention we have 2 kids (definitely no more in the future) and no pets (definitely none in thd future cause my son is allergic) Also I have a truck so "stow and go" and space for a load if lumber will not sway my descision... That being said we will consider an SUV... We aren't gunna rush and we are gunna explore many options...
  21. Thanks for the feedback so far everyone... Like I said im just beginning my research/shopping... Figured I'd chat a bit here... Money is an big factor... Dodge caravan looks good with a brand new "canada value package" going for $20,000 or $244 a month... But also considering some of the more expensive vans with less then 50,000km on them to get back down in cost...
  22. Hello So the wife and I are just starting to shop around for a new or slightly used van for the family... The G6 isn't cutting it anymore... In no way do I wanna start and brand battle on here with negative arguing between everyone... That won't help me at all... I'm looking for your feedback about the van or vans you have owned and what you liked or didn't like in your opinion... I have no preference of brand... All brands have issues in their line up somewhere... So please... Good or bad I like to hear about your personal experience and opinions on your vans... Thanks a lot for the help... Mike
  23. Mine was less then a week... Then I got a second card in the mail a few days after the first... Very speedy this year...
