This will make you think twice about anchoring or tying your boat in current... Nobody was hurt but I guess there's a bunch of deisel in the river now... This is in Cornwall Ontario on the St. Lawrence river... This is part of the rediculous performance of the crew tearing down the old international bridge... Edit: the people responsible for the tear down have cables running all over the river... They attempted to mark them but the markers were pulled under by current as well... Now there are submerged cables and submerged marker bouys... And a capsized tug...

Interesting that they don't seam to be in the St. Lawrence river (from what I have seen) considering the Great Lakes drain through it... But I guess the little buggers probably don't like current....

Good for you That's a great outcome

Looks like a blast...

Hopefully I'll be horsing in some musky... You know... To protect the bass for you guys... Lol : )

Good job on the successful trip

Thanks for the feedback and PMs I don't mind waiting as long as i eventually get the baits... It's 10" reef hawgs I'm after Andrew... There are stores with 8" but none with 10"... I'll give it another week just incase the guy is on a fishing trip or something then report to PayPal...

Big game 1/4 pound spool is like $10

Very very true... Your getting them to strike which is more then some other anglers can say... Im sure the rest will sort itself out because you sound like you'll rack your brain until you figure it out... I used to lose fish and choke on follows ALL THE TIME... But year after year I got better and now my opportunity to success ratio has improved a lot... Another thing I do is use 50lb mono for trolling... I literally cannot remember ever losing a fish on that rod... And I troll a lot... I run braid and mono and I lose some fish on the braid rod but the mono rod keeps em hooked up better... It also helps keep your baits up higher... Gives you some options to play with...

Hello Anyone deal with these guys recently for musky baits...? I placed an order 10 days ago and since then I have tried to contact them through email... Phone and Facebook... They have not replied at all... All I have received is a confirmation of my order and payment... I'm getting close to making a report to paypal to get my money back... I really want the lures but Im nervous about getting ripped off now... How long should I wait before trying to get my money back?

It's not always so black and white My gear is heavy duty and drags pretty much locked... But the 49" fish I hooked boatside Saturday only got one of the points on the back treble of my bucktail... Once I realized this I had to free spool and attempt to get another hook into her... I wasn't successful getting a second hook in so I had to take it easy and make wide smooth motions with my rod to get her into the net... I'm sure most musky guys have LOADS of stories about failures... The good musky guys learn from the failures and grow from them... But losing fish that far out in your retrieve I'd say sharpen your hooks...

Just keep in mind a lot of people would say thats successful... I know there are members here that would fish multiple days for one fish that size...
-
I'm also a firm believed in this... I do a lot of cold weather fishing and a lot of night fishing... There's not many people around to help you if things go bad... I have a Gatorade bottle that's been in my boat for YEARS... Anyone that has fished with me has probably used the bottle we so fondly call "Dirty Gurty" ... She's old and dirty and seen her fair share of... Well you know... But I've never had a close call using Gurty... Over the gunnels I've had a few close calls...

I think it's fake Mouth outline is too perfect... There would have been head shakes that would have made a sloppy outline My opinion
-
I start by fishing the way I'm confident fishing on my home water... If that's not panning out begin experimenting from there... If a spot looks good it probably is... Don't give up on the first try...

Nice walter

Thanks everyone It was a really cool catch for me because I don't cast much and I especially don't get many figure 8 opurtunities.... I think I can count on one hand my figure 8 captures... So for this big girl to cooperate and take boatside was special for me... Come to think of it this is now my casting PB... Lol Next up Ottawa River opener... Based on how sore I am today I gotta do more casting to get ready... Lol

well i decided to hook up the trailer and head north for zone 18 musky opener for the first time in a few years. the cold front conditions had me worried but we managed a few fish anyways. we boated a pike and 2 musky. one dink and one at 49" we also had another 6 follows throughout the day the big girl is my new PB in zone 18 waters... she came in hot in the first spot of the day... i saw her coming and went into a figure 8 and she continued to follow... on the second turn of the 8 i raised my bait nearly to the surface and she smoked it... first fish on a new rod... new reel... and new cowgirl... all performed great...

Musky opener: what are you throwing?
mike rousseau replied to singingdog's topic in General Discussion
Thinking glides might be the ticket with the post frontal conditions.... Gunna try the all faithful hellhounds... I'll be trying my new manta 10... I haven't even seen its action yet... And I got a really nice cowgirl to try out... I ordered some reef hawgs but not in time for opener -
Try no bait.... If you bait regularily they'll be looking already... Just cast a single bait out on your rig ang give it after.... When it comes to boilie fishing carp 2-3 hours isn't a log if time so baiting strategy is key

Whos got the biggest musky on OFC
mike rousseau replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure there is someone with a bigger fish on here... My PB is 54.25" I caught last year -
Sending a pm

I think 10-12lb mono or fluorocarbon is starndard for open water trolling... I use 12lb big ge when I troll in Quentin and it seams good. No mood to break the bank... Lol

Once in a lifetime walleye experience tonight...
mike rousseau replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
Almost had it happen again Sunday night... We got a walleye and a second one folllowed it right to the boat and you could see it was trying to go at the lure... We almost got both in the net before the second fish spooked.,. Lol
