  1. i think its only illigal to transport live fish across the border... like in your boats livewell after a day trip to the USA
  2. By boat? 7 foot med heavy st.croix baitcaster with a curado 7 foot med st.croix spinning with a high end reel... Depending on what lline you put on you can fish almost anything with
  3. Gulp works as good as live bait in some cases... Jig head and a worm/ gulp worm... You'll get the same number of hits... But I found they want hold on as long as the real thing... I keep a tub of 3 inch gulp minnows in my boat for tipping worm harnesses... This works better than live bait cause you get just as many hits but you don't have to re-bait as often ... And tge fish have a hard time tearing the 3 inch gulp... And last season I landed 2 10lb walleye jigging with a 4inch gulp twister tail... My 2 cents
  4. Errr... i use mobile OFC and it doesnt show the extra description... dont know why???
  5. If your on very pressured waters... Don't leave that spot!!! Fish the crap out of the whole area... I like "red October" tubes... Never ever had a follow on these baits... They either hit em or not... If there isn't much fishing pressure... And you have good electronics... Figure out when you have a bite window and go back with a very similar bait... You had her interested... It just wasn't supper time... Lol
  6. Corn Frozen corn on a size 4 hook on 6-10 inches of line then a swivel to the mainline with an egg sinker
  7. I found the tournament aspect of the day helped to give us the drive to fish hard... On musky opener you need all the help your body can get... Casting half pound lures all day (6am-10pm) and bouncing in waves coming off a 30 foot cruiser takes it's toll on the body... I shoulda hit the gym this winter... Shoulder is a bit tender today...
  8. if you dont mind traveling to buy your boat check out this site... great deals but all USA i got my lund here... had to pick it up in new jersey my dads... cleveland but saved tonnes of cash and loads of options on boat brands https://www.walleyecentral.com/classified/new/searchresults.jsp
  9. i got out for musky opener yesterday... me and some friends (12 guys in 6 boats) had a little buddies tournament... 10 bucks a peice and longest musky takes it all... 120 bucks out of the 12 guys fishing only 4 musky were caught but my boat got 2 of em my partner managed 2 small musky 30 and 32 inches the other 2 were from one other boat as well 36 and 42 inches so we didnt win but it felt good to be a successful boat "I" managed 2 small pike and i almost lost track of follows... almost!!! i had 12 follows!!!!!!!!!! no takers... but thats what keeps us musky hunters coming back anyways... here are the pics
  10. 2 musky so far and 10 follows... 2 pike
  11. Well I fished the Ottawa river last year on that opener and the hightest concentration of musky I found was in a shallow bay on the inside line of a weedbed and it was full of stumps... The fish were holding tight to the wood that day... But if you find GOOD weeds... I would concentrate on that... Also depending on whether your water is cold or warm and weather that day... Cold water and sunny= rocks ...and so on...
  12. I WAS gunna say in dirty water fish have a lighter colour and colour patterns are less vibrant ... Bu the st Lawrence is gin clear... Unless mercman is around a dirty section where a river dumps in... But my only opinion us dirty water
  13. Itle be the rideau river for me and my buddies... It's nice fishing a little river like that when your used to the st lawrence
  14. Go to the gulp grubs... They really work well...
  15. Go lowrance...lol
  16. Got one by accident the other day... Got me itchen real bad for opener...
  17. Neither are the people on it... Take all the info from this site and use common sense to figure out what you believe to be true
  18. you have to also realize what size musky your targetting on the st.lawrence we see 48+ inch musky on a regular basis so our tackle has to be up to the challenge... musky specific rods with 60-100lb braid on large powerful reels... if a 36incher is big where you are well then your tackle should match that... if your equiped for 50lb fish and catching 15-20lb fish your not going to be having much fun either... and thats what fishing is about... having fun
  19. its more about the musky literally fighting you to the death... thats why you need heavy gear... nothing angers me more than guys trying to catch a big musky with a 7 foot medium action spinning rod and 8 lb test line... i have purposly broke of on 48+ inch musky because they were caught while ... lets say perch fishing... with a 10 foot noodle rod and 6 lb test mono... the battle went on too long so to avoid killing the fish i broke my line... and the warmer the water the higher the risk of fetality... now every so often i have a fish up and die on me... its like they had a heart attack or something... short fight, never took em out of the water, not hooked deep, etc... sometimes there is nothing you could have done to prevent these deaths (other than stay home)... now best advice i can give you... the fish deserves more attention than getting a picture or a measurment... if you think the fish is in danger... leave your camera in the tacklebox... if hes hooked deep, cut your hooks(replacing hooks is easier than replacing a 50 inch musky) etc... now enjoy the hunt for this truly amazing fish mike
  20. my dads ranger has a ram support for the head of his trolling motor... works great... but it was on the boat when he bought it... not sure were to find it tho... somebody on here must know
  21. That happened a couple years ago to me and my dad... We were working in his backyard wich is on a creek ... When all of a sudden I see a turtle about the size of a silver dollar... Then we got to searching and ended up finding 27 of these little snapping turtles... Some of them hadn't even opened there eyes yet... They were coming up out of his garden... Moma turtle must have laid her eggs there
  22. Thanx for the info everyone... I just thought it was strange... I've cleaned hundreds of walleye and never saw this before...
  23. But the eggs are supposedly in the meat... I guess I'll go with roy on this one... I'll give it to my boss or something... Lol
