I have many of times even owned a pro-v there's absolutely no comparison in ride I put 100's of hours out in big water each year and a good glass boat (Ranger, Skeeter, Yarcraft, ext.) puts any tin boat to shame these are all multi species ie. Ranger 620, Skeeter WX series Dan

I have zero interest in an aluminum boat after being in my brothers Skeeter it does everything an aluminum boat can do without jarring your fillings loose saying that I fish mainly big water Dan

There is no $2500 sled around that will come even close to a good ATV with tracks in deep snow. Mind you if your after speed tracks on an ATV is definitely not the ticket Dan
-
They work awesome on large cc machines 500+ we tried to get a 700 Grizzly stuck for hours once in 7'+ of snow and couldn't but they do chew up a lot of power and make your machine hard on fuel Dan

Tons of bears just north of Honey Harbour at my parents. I've seen 11 in the past year with a couple of real bruisers tag is bought and bait is already getting hit can't wait until September 6th Dan
-
I've caught quite a few of them off of laydowns coming off of shore bad part is you loose half of them due to breakoffs by the time you get to the rod Dan
-
Dara that's the reason why baiting for bears is the best option. you get a chance to wait when the bear comes in get a good look at them and make a proper ethical decision on if you should shoot or not Dan

Port Hope is looking to make fishing regs changes.

I'm not sure how the government hasn't figured out that this is a cash cow change the fine structure and conviction style 1st offence $5000 2nd offence $10000 and so on also make it similar to drinking and driving guilty until you prove yourself innocent. I can't see why anyone who's a true sportsman wouldn't support this. Dan -
huge fan of both flicker shads and flicker minnows Dan

This is why in the future you'll see a no permanent huts allowed and I'm sure Clam corp and Fraible are licking their lips at that Dan

Changes Proposed to the Walleye Fishery on Lake Scugog
myot replied to pooch's topic in General Discussion
stocking would be the wise choice The MNR has to start treating local fisheries as a put and take fishery. These are great opportunities to grow the sport with tones of accessibilities for everyone to enjoy. Look at many local fisheries in urban centers in the states. they stock the heavily and promote them as put and take fisheries bringing $1000's of dollars into local communities and promote fishing as part of an outdoor lifestyle for everyone to enjoy. by closing icefishing for walleye your just taking money out of local businesses pockets. Lets support our fishery by making it accessible in areas where it makes sense just my 2 cents Dan -
That dock is a total shame I've been right up to it in person and several yahoo's have decided to run over it with their studded sleds ripping it to shreds (it will need a whole new top) Dan

I've had dozens of helmets over the years (most manufactures and dot advise against using helmets more then 2 years old) but I would say try some on see what fits you best. right now I use a snowcross style helmet because I like the light weight and the field of view best but they are certainly not the warmest Dan
-
Try Nats they are by far the lightest boot around. I use them for both hunting and icefishing and never have a problem with cold feet Dan
-
If you get a proper copper set up you'll like it the reels are like winches Dan
-
5 of the 6 properties I hunt on are loaded my best property from last year looks pretty barren but there is still some time left for some to filter down in Dan
-
any long track Polaris 500 are normally pretty good the good old Fuji 500's are pretty solid Dan
-
With a 500 be prepared to go slow I mean really slow they eat up a lot of power and are really hard on fuel too Dan
-
The game against the Fins was plain and simply a poorly coached game by Sutter when you are 3" taller and 25lbs heavier then each player you might not want to into a speed game and no matter how the refs are calling the game good clean body checks still make a point even if you get a minor penalty for it Dan
-
Worst one I've seen was on a trolling reel and the gear set let go while a 25lbs silver king was in full run the line overspooled so bad my buddy had line up to his elbows it was nuts Dan

Tones of snow and slush HAVE FUN!!!!

We had a 1980 ET same as the blue one a few pictures up and oh man did we ever beat the snot out of that thing to the point of the suspention breaking in half we fixed it from there and then the run began we totally customized it. We put a set of ape hanger high bars on it, a set of "highway pegs" coming off the cowling, Painted it jet black and put chrome snow screens on it then took it watercross for a few afternoons it was awesome
-
its a really cold machine to ride its reliable super heavy for the cc's of the machine and slow but if used for icefishing on lakes where access is easy go for it Dan
-
used one for 3 seasons now awesome product great service and tech support too Dan

was up at my parents place on the weekend and water levels were about the same as last spring but it blew from the south all weekend which normally means low water so my guess is that it seems a bit higher then we thought it was going to be Dan
