  1. Had a chance to look at some new models today and I must say the Sony TX5 looks like the winner at this point. Panasonic TS2 is nice as well, but when you see how slim the TX5 is and its great features (including touch screen LCD, 10fps burst, panoramic mode) it seems a no-brainer. Both are in the $350 range. These are the cameras to consider if you want a great camera that happens to be 4-proof. I'd say the Olympus 6020 would be 3rd if I had to choose. Note the Sony is only waterproof to 10ft though. Saw the XP10 as well, it looks alright but it seemed pretty slow and bulky compared to the others. There is an Olympus at Futureshop around the $99 range also. These are the cameras you want to consider that will take a beating at the beach/fishing but you have another camera to take the quality photos. Open to more thoughts on real-life experiences on these cameras.
  2. I hear so much about the 2003 year class of walleye, what makes it so special? Does the stocking continue every year?
  3. The Panasonic TS2 is now on the shelves and looks very impressive. Sony TX5 comes out in a couple weeks and looks to be the top camera so far; with the TS2 very close. $350-$399 range XP10 should be out soon as well $199 and Olympus has a $99 camera out now that is waterproof. Gonna keep waiting till they all come out to have a hands on look at em'
  4. I really enjoy my Optimas and would recommend them to anyone. Light, easy to handle and plenty of power. You just need to charge them properly with a quality charger!
  5. I heard recently that there is a slight price increase on the HDS units because they have updated the units to a white background and some other updates. Does anyone know more on this?
  6. Turns out its one or the other according to Minn Kota. Has anyone else tried the ipilot on the water?
  7. I've used a Sedona, Exceler and a President and the Pfluger tops them all.
  8. Might try a cheap pair of browns to see how they look. I prefer Raybans in the higher end of shades.
  9. Would the HDS-5 be big enough to do SS?
  10. I've heard that brown tint rather than grey works better in water. Any truth to this?
  11. Jocelyn at Angling outfitters might have one, but his stock is low everyone is backordered it seems
  12. Nice pics! Hey what are you using to secure your trolling motor to the deck of the boat in transit? I want to do that as well.
  13. Great report Bob glad to hear the fishing is picking up! Looking forward to the trip in a couple weeks.
  14. Actually had to remove this for a friend the other day. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-tool
  15. Cool thanks guys!
  16. From what I've been reading X-fast is more for jigging, fast is for all-around fishing, and slow is generally for livebait rigging. Everyone has their preference though. X-fast being the most sensitive (based on same blank).
  17. jj did you shoot some compressed air up the "telltale" hole? Might just be a slight blockage in there. As for the bottom end its possibly a seal. When he winterized the motor did he change the lower unit oil then?
  18. Guys where would I get some minnows to head out from the Lindsay area to go up there? Emms still have them?
  19. Hi David - sorry I should've been more clear. Looking to travel to Nestor Falls / Fort Frances area....Reditt or Minaki was the stop we had planned and get picked up there. Also considered taking the AMTrak to Fargo, ND and going from there. Thanks for the heads up on the Bizpass.
  20. Hi all - I'm planning on taking the train a bit more this summer mostly on the London-Oshawa corridor but also thinking of a trip up to Kenora area and back this summer. I see that Via now has last minute deals I'm keeping an eye on. Just wondering if anyone might have some leads to get better prices on tickets. Feel free to reply or shoot me a PM. Thanks in advance.
  21. Where is the easiest spots to launch in Canal or Mitchell lake? Do you need to be real careful with stumps etc? Never been but wanting to go for some pike.
  22. Get yourself a 50-55lb and never have to worry about moving around the lake. Minn Kota Maxuum or Traaxis are really nice, the enduras are cheaper but much harder on batteries.
  23. Jocelyn at Angling Outfitters has a couple used cable-steer models in stock. Could you let us know what you're after?
  24. I want to get out on Lake Erie this summer and I'm thinking of trying out the Torpedo divers. Saw some pretty cool tips under his site http://www.torpedodivers.com/videos.asp They look pretty easy to setup; has anyone used them? I might even give them a shot on some inland lakes I fish for walleye for deep trolling.
  25. Wow very nice! I'm interested to know where as well - really want one of these. Are they really tough to tip compared to say a prospector style canoe?
