  1. Guys does anyone use a heavier electric on the side? The minnkota maxxum/traaxis are heavier because they have the digital maximizer in them (similar to the motorguide HT digital motors).
  2. Interesting thread. Are there any videos on how to properly clean and lube a baitcast or spinning reel?
  3. Guys I'm looking at powering my canoe with a minnkota maxxum transom mount motor 36'' shaft of the side of the boat via my canoe motor mount. It's about 25-27lbs for the motor though; what kind of trollers do you use on you canoe? I realize the enduras are lighter but don't have the battery saving features like a maxxum/traaxis or motorguide digital motor. Do you have any issues with that much weight off the side?
  4. That is simply incredible! What a great way to spend with family and the scenery is unbelievable!
  5. K/W is your best bet for IT around aside from the GTA. London is pretty good as well. Fishing in either of the above cities isn't even close to Windsor though.
  6. Thats great guys thanks for the replies. Going to check them out. Bought a pair of waterproof "sealskinz" gloves but I find once they get wet they aren't insulated so too cold for winter. Might just get some mitts to go overtop. http://www.sealskinz.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet...ser|1,0,0,1|53|
  7. On now WFN
  8. I see there is a thread for boots, so I was wondering what you guys like for Winter gloves/mitts. I'd like something waterproof as well if you've seen them around.
  9. How so? I'm open to believing this but could you elaborate on that? What about Shimano?
  10. I have a TE-PT b/c rod and it's been great, so would definitely consider a spinning rod (already have an energy PT). So the tours are comparable to the other brands high end? I hear you on the cheap stuff....I've been through 4 rods already since this little hobby started a year ago
  11. I really need to go visit that store one day! What about Quantum rods? - I have the most access to those are there any comparable to the Shimanos or St. Croix's?
  12. Interesting...never really use worms but from a jig perspectice white always seemed to be the best colour.
  13. I'd like to pickup some gulp minnows tomorrow and wondering about what colour to get. I mainly fish the Thames and its reservoirs...mostly stained water as you know. What colour do you think would be best? Assorted, Smelt, watermelon, black shad.
  14. Never been near Loomis rods so never crossed my mind...I'll check those out as well if my local retailer has them
  15. I'm on the lookout for a jigging rod guys - 1st choice was a St. Croix Legend tournament or Avid 6'3 rod...having trouble finding local stock though. Reel - looking at a stradic 1000. 2nd choice would be to look at Shimano or Quantum rods...Want something really sensitive...plan on jigging primarily 10-30ft of water with 1/4 to 3/4oz jigs. What do you guys like to use?
  16. Hi all, I was thinking the other day of a few places around the area that are considered fish sanctuaries during parts of the year, and was surprised that a few other high pressure spots (that are also good spawning areas I would think) that aren't. What determines these areas?
  17. I run a tiller and I enjoy the space....I think it depends how big of water you fish on whether it's really needed. If most of your fishing is the great lakes or LSC than I'd consider it. Inland lakes I'd brave the elements.
  18. I thought it was supposed to be 1/4'' below the boat? Sounds like I have a project to mount this thing permanently. I like the bracket GCD mentioned...maybe I'll make one of those rather than drilling through the transom. Good to know about it not marking fish over 5mph though....never loses bottom but I'd like to get the best image possible and start using this thing....really only used it as a depthfinder this year so want to get my $'s worth on this unit. cheers, scugog
  19. Here's another pic
  20. Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like the suction cup might be the problem. I've attached a pic of where I typlcally have it sititng on the boat. I think it's far enough away from the motor. Currently have it connected to my 24v batteries on the one with the (-) going to the trolling motor. Also have a ferrite power filter on the power line going to the lowrance.
  21. Hi all - I have an LMS-522c and I've noticed when I'm crusing around I can't seem to mark any fish going faster than 3-5mph and over that the screen goes blue (hard to explain). Could this be interference from the gas motor's electrical system, or does it sound like the transducer is picking up air bubbles or something? I currently just use a suction cup on the back of the boat and I try to position the TD just under the boat at the flat angle. Do you guys have any issues marking fish or with interference on your electronics?
  22. I HAVE A CO-PILOT FOR SALE NEXT FEBRUARY!
  23. Yup go see Jos at AO....I got a 70pd AP/US unit for a great price.
  24. Get well Cliff and Sue! You guys are such great people our thoughts are with you both.
  25. I bought a cheap -40 pair from CT (green with liners) and they were ok. Definitely could use a better pair. Remember your feet are probably done growing, buy a nice pair and be done with it
