  1. My day started off OK but it sure went down hill fast. I was on my way into town for an appointment and a Chev Astrovan ran a red light and nailed me on the right rear wheel. He claimed he tried to stop and slid, the roads were slush covered but he really hit me hard, my truck has a lot of damage.I spun in a full 180 and it was all I could do to keep from hitting the oncomming traffic. Fortunatly for me there were lots of witnesses and he has been charged with running a red light. My insurance company has already aranged for me to have a replacement vehicle to drive and will tell me in the next few days if mine will be fixed or written off (fortunatly I have full replacement). I really want to thank PC T. Stewart from the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Dept.. He was so kind and considerate with me, made sure I was OK, aranged for a tow truck for me, made sure I had all the necessary information to give to my insurance company. The gentileman that stayed with me until the Police arrived and gave a statement; Moyers Towing, their driver went out of his way to give me a ride over to the Nissan Dealership so that I could get another car to drive; and all the very kind people that stopped to make sure I was OK and see if I needed anything. Gosh I love living in a small town! The best part of it is that I am OK, a little stiff and sore but nothing serious, us old guys are use to being stiff and sore anyway LOL. The car will be fixed or replaced, me, well I'll just get better!
  2. Actually, no it isn't a fishing board. It is a community of people from many walks of life, with many different intrests. Our common bond is fishing and looking out for each other. While many "fishing boards" come and go, this board just continues to grow. Stick around for a while; it'll grow on you!
  3. Yes, they do work but they also have a "manual" (you blow into the darn thing) fill tube on them just in case. Rain isn't usually enough to set the auto inflate off (at least I've never seen it happen) The CO2 cartridges do not have a "best before" date.
  4. Just don't hit the brakes LOL.
  5. Glad you posted this! If they ignore you long enough, you will go away, I wonder how many other people will go away too? Customer service is a rare commodity these days. It costs a lot of money to generate a new customer, I wonder what their $20.00-$30.00 gift will cost them in lost customers?
  6. Scott, my son has been doing this for some time now and has never been declined when he showed photo ID. Since I started, I have been asked a couple of times and not had any problems. Seems to make sense to me but you are a retailer, would you refuse a card if photo ID was provided? Any other retailers that would have a problem with it?
  7. My son was down visiting me about two weeks ago and I had just received a replacement credit card. I was just about to sign the back of it when he asked "why?". He then told me that he just writes on the back of his cards "Ask for photo ID" because if his card was ever lost or stolen no one would know what his signature looked like and even if they got his wallet with his drivers license the photo wouldn't match. I now write on the back of my credit cards "ask for photo ID". Since I never carry my credit cards without having some form of photo ID with me it seems like a good idea. Just thought I'd like to share. Anyone else do it? Not do it?
  8. Over the last few years I have started doing a bit of research before I buy anything significant be it a product or service and one of the things I have started to do is call their customer service/technicial support lines. I have found many to be exceptional in providing technicial support/customer service (a company called Cutco is one such company, lifetime warranty on their products and they mean it and support it) but I have also found several to be almost impossible to deal with. Dropped calls, long waits, technical staff that either don't have a clue or don't care. Sometimes you can't even get through to a person or if you do, they promise to get back to you and you never hear from them again. (Bell Sympatico, GM, are you listening?) Anyway, I have found it to be a really good measure of what I can expect from a company and/or their products and just thought I'd like to share it. might even save someone some money or frustration!
  9. Ya, and from what I saw two weeks ago, Sly will usually be leading the parade LOL.
  10. I only met this young man about two weeks ago but I was VERY impressed with his knowledge and his attitude, if anyone can give you service and put you on fish I think he is one that can do it. If I was going to book, I wouldn't hesitate to give him a call. Slyatv 705 437 7880. let me know how you make out!
  11. WTG kid, now does this mean you will have to work shifts/weekends? Glad to hear you don't have to commute so far anymore!
  12. I have an Aqua-View Scout and really like it but while they are a nice toy they are limited by water clarity. I tried mine in a lake this winter that was quite tea stained and I could only see about 3-4' even with the lights turned on full.
  13. Hello......Hello...... anyone up there? Could you pass me down a shovel? Yes, there is a house down here! I haven't seen a winter like this since I was a kid, figures it's the first winter in about 15 years that I didn't go South LOL. We have snow drifts that have to be at least 6' deep. Oh well, something to tell the great grand kids about. On the up side of things, I just found out (and got connected yesterday) that we can now get wireless high speed through a company called Xplornet for less than I have been paying Bell for dialup. So far so good! Mind you, I am really looking forward to telling Bell to take a hike (if I can ever get to talk to someone who cares)!
  14. You are being "Asked" to post the details here, you couldn't have come to a better place to find out what a "fair value" is for it! Don't worry about someone getting upset about you posting the information here, if the moderators think it shouldn't be then they will tell you but since you have been asked all you are doing is answering a question! I am interested in learning more about what different packages are worth.
  15. Well, he might have been the last one picked but he got the best home of the litter!
  16. Wonderful report! So glad to see you both got fish and enjoyed your day off.
  17. "ErieWhites" "FamilyAffair"
  18. At times like this I often think that there are things I should be saying or should be doing which would make things easier for you and Chris. If only I knew what they were! You and Chris are always in our prayers! Cliff & Sue.
  19. Very nice! I really liked the way you made your dock! I built my boat house a couple of years ago and was surprised at how easy it was to get the permit, this year I am going to redesign my dock but that will wait until warmer weather.
  20. She sure looks nice and healthy! Congratulations on a beautiful fish and a quick release!
  21. Big difference is that we export it to places like the US who sell it for about 1/2 of what we pay for it here in Canada. Yes, I think we are getting ripped off! the UK doesn't have the oil reserves so they have to import it.
  22. + 11 here in Lindsay but the sun is shining, windy though, gusts to about 60 km/h. If I had known we weren't going to get all the rain they were calling for I'd have gone fishing again today. Going to try to squeeze in a day later in the week if I can, got to get me one of those whities.
  23. The minute you take anything that isn't rightfully yours you stole it!
  24. Didn't do nearly as well on the catching as you did (in fact Beans and I didn't even a solid hit) but still had a wonderful day out there with some fantastic people. Thanks to all who helped us to enjoy such a beautiful day on the ice by guiding us past the pressure crack, drilling holes for us, showing us what to use and how to use it and for making us feel so welcome in sharing the experience. I can't remember ever enjoying a day fishing more than I did yesterday!
