  1. Ryan, if you ever decide to do those in the black with a white belly, put my name on that list please. I'd be happy to pay for them and would be looking for three styles; one shallow runner 0-3', one desigined to run down to 5-7', and one desigined to run 10-12'. I always fish light line 6 lb test max so I wouldn't want anything too big, approx 3" would be perfect. BTW, those jigs you donated to the fishing for Tyler event are fantastic! I had forgotten all about them and was unpacking my ice fishing gear the other day to put it away for the summer and came across them. I decided to try one tipped with a minnow and first cast, had a nice walleye on. I only fished for about an other 15 minutes because it was so cold and windy but in that short time had two more solid hits, landed one more and lost one at the dock. Could you please let me know where I can buy some more of them. My email is [email protected] Thanks Big Cliff
  2. Rick, if you can get me a list and SN's of any of the mowers, trimmers, etc (any power equipment) I'll post a list at our shop in case someone tries to either get it serviced or sell it. I'll keep an eye out here in the Lindsay area for the truck and trailer.
  3. Thank you very much for that link Fisherman, really helpful! If you ever get some fresh puff balls in the fall, try dehydrating them. Just cut them into slices about 1/2" thick and put them in your dehydrator for about 1-2 days. They will keep for years and make a wonderful addition to sauces, soups, and stews.
  4. Ahhhh, a nice cot in a tent; doubles your space as you can store stuff under the cot, no more sore hips or back in the morning, much easier to sit on than the ground, you are going to love it, I wouldn't go tenting without one anymore. The money to buy it.... well, good things come to those that deserve them! Congrats!
  5. Good on you! I have called in a couple of suspected impared drivers, one I saw drinking from a beer bottle, no plates on the car and no temp permits visable. within 10 minutes there were three police cars all over this guy, turned out he had water in the beer bottle (no idea why) but there was a problem with the car. Never heard any more about it. Just recently, I was following a van, speed from 55 to 90 in an 80 zone, drifting from the sholder to over the center line, I called it in to the OPP as it was on hwy 7 and gave them the plate #, they stayed on the line with me while I kept him in sight, by now he was drifting right across into the on coming lane at times, fortunatly there was nothing coming when he did. He turned off the hwy and onto a local road and the dispatcher got the local police involved, next thing I knew there were 3 crusers boxing him in. Don't know what happened, the dispatcher thanked me and told me I could continue on my way. If more people would take the time to get involved and report suspected impared drivers we might just save a few lives.
  6. If fireworks hadn't been invented, we wouldn't have guns! I have however seen some really stupid use of fire works, about two years ago there were three young fellows racing around out here in boats firing roman candles at each other. You have to wonder what they were thinking; gas tank + fire ball in a boat..... could have easily = someone getting seriously hurt or killed.
  7. That is really neat Steve, I have wanted one of those things for years and always thought it would be a lot of fun on the beaches down South. I almost bought one a couple of years ago when we were in Myrtle Beach but then a friend reminded me that they go over the beaches with a machine that filters the sand and removes any thing that might be in it. I would think that any socer field or park would yield lots of coins and things. Oh, and gold is worth about $910.00/ Troy oz. A troy oz is about 31.103 grams and 14K means that that ring is about 58% pure gold the remander is alloy. A typical pinkey ring would weigh about 3 grams so that ring you found would probably be worth ball park about $58.00 just for the scrap gold in it. I have no idea what the value of the stone is but it looks like you have just recovered about 30% of your investnent already. Pure gold is 24k so if you find any more and it is stamped, 18/24 = 75% pure, 10k= about 42% just devide the number by 24 and you will have the gold purity.
  8. It is so sad that a simple mistake has resulted in such tradgity. Three beautiful young ladies, doing nothing wrong, heading out for a weekend of fun. My condolances to all the families and friends.
  9. danbo, this was much too big to be a bobcat or lynx. I can't prove one way or the other what it was but when my neighbour saw it, he thought he was looking at a big wolf it was that big, he never even thought it might be a cougar, mind you it was 3:00 am LOL and he might have had a drink or two the night before but what ever it was it was large. It might have been almost anything but my best guess based on my experience and what my neighbour saw was that it was a cougar. I talked to a friend that owns a farm about a mile from here and he told me he has seen tracks that he believed were a cougar but when he called MNR, they basically brushed him off. There isn't much that can make the hair on my neck stand up but this sure did LOL.
  10. Just curious Dutch and no offence meant but do you make a living playing blackjack and if not, why not? As I said, I spent a lot of time studying, I can play perfect basic strategy, and have studied many, many money managment, and other stratagies but have found that in the long run it really depends on which way the cards are going. I have seen dealers make 21 after 21, after 21, I have seen times when the dealer bust every hand no matter what their up card was and I have seen times when the dealer's up card was a 5 or 6 and they make a hand every time. The Casinos are funded by people that think they can beat the house, the casinos seem to have lots of money. I have played in several tournaments and even won a few and to be honest with you if I thought I could make $200.00 a day average playing blackjack in the casinos I wouldn't bother working, why would anyone? I am really happy if you can do well at it; me, well I've had good days, I've had bad days, but no matter how well I play in the long run, the casinos always seem to come out on top. I'd be really interested in talking with anyone that can show me I'm wrong and that you can make money in a casino over a long period of time. Perhaps we can share some knowledge and experience and all come out ahead.
  11. Hi, this is Sue. You know it's funny you should mention family.... as you guys were driving down the road we looked at each other and said "It's just like watching our kids leave!". We really enjoyed our visit (as did Andy, of course!) and we look forward to you coming back for a weekend where Sydney can have a bath every night (and during the day if she wants!). Give Sydney a big hug for us (and for Andy). Take care! Love Sue
  12. Cliff, Carole, and Sydney dropped in yesterday after some fishing to have supper with us. What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening and what a beautiful family. I think we might have just adopted a grandaughter LOL. Anyway, we headed down to the dock after dinner to see if we might get some walleye, the bite was light and they weren't all that co-oporative but Sydney did manage to catch her first ever walleye. I know Cliff got some pictures and I'm sure he will post them when he gets a chance. Thanks again for the visit and the wonderful company! We are looking forward to your next visit already. Cliff, Sue, and Andy
  13. The things you see when you live in the country: I just walked out onto our back deck with my morning coffee and there in the yard was a beautiful red fox. We did have quite a few rabbits around here this winter but they have been getting scarcer and scarcer these last few weeks. Guess I know why now. Andy had left one of his rawhide bones sitting out there and the fox came up and snatched it then ran over behind the neighbours spruce tree and started chewing on it. I snuck back into the house to get my camera but I couldn't get a very good picture of it because if the tree. Anyway, it only stayed a few seconds then took off with the rawhide. A couple of weeks ago I was getting ready to go turkey hunting and about 3:00 am had stepped out onto the deck when I heard a really strange noise, now I've spent most of my life in the bush and I've seen and heard just about every animal that is around these parts but this was unlike anything I have ever heard before. It came down between our house and the neighbours on the other side of the cedar trees about 30-40' away from me. I thought about trying to get my camera but was afraid that any noise or movement might scare it and I was hoping to get a really good look at it if it came far enough down the yard to where our outside lights shine on the neighbours lawn. I wasn't sure until after but it was a couger. As soon as it got down wind of me it stopped and then vanished into the night. When I talked to my neighbour the next morning, the noise had wakened him and he turned on his outside light and saw it coming down his driveway. He wasn't sure what he had seen until we started comparing notes. MNR might claim there aren't any cougers in the area but I can assure you, there is at least one.
  14. Interesting! But they are right, if you go to the casino and expect to make money playing blackjack you are a dreamer, you might win sometimes but you will loose in the long run. I spent a lot of time reading, learning, and practicing different playing and money management systems and stratigies. Even if you count cards it all really boils down to luck. You may be able to shift the edge slightly by counting but if your luck is bad, if the dealer is pulling 21 against your 20's or turning 16's into 21's all the card counting in the world isn't going to make you win. Anyway, it was a good trainer in basic blackjack for someone who is thinking of going for an evening out at the casino.
  15. LOL, I still have a scar on my butt where a piece of rock salt caught up to me when I was a kid and got caught stealing apples. Hurt like heck but sure made for a good story after the fact. Don't know if this land owner was using rock salt or not but shooting at these fishermen probably wasn't the brightest thing to do, not these days anyway, should have been him calling the police. I wonder how many times he has had to ask people to leave his property (assuming it is properly signed). Could be that there are two sides to this story? Sounds a little extreem that he would just walk out there and start shooting.
  16. Use to love going to it. Five years running our boat took one of the top three prizes. Don't remember it costing that much or having to pay for launching though. That was one lake where either you were on them and knew what you were doing or got skunked. Best bait was 6-8" sucker minnows under a bobber and patience.
  17. Some people get older every year Joey, you just keep getting more beautiful! Have a super day Kid and a very happy Birthday!
  18. Well I think you should build a duck pond in your back yard for those little chicks to swim and play in when they hatch! Jack just let mother nature and mother duck take care of things and enjoy watching it all happen.
  19. Another wonderful report and pictures. Next time the wind is out of the East and you still want to do some fishing, head up to our place. The water was like glass out in front of here all day untile about 8:30 last night when the wind changed to being out of the South. If you do want to go out in the boat, you can but the prize for catching the first fish of the season off our dock is a free season pass. As long as Sydney wants to bring you along, you and Carol can come too LOL!
  20. All the very best my friend, getting older is good, it's when you stop getting older that you are in real trouble. Get really old, just never grow up!
  21. The lake was beautiful over here all day yesterday, well, until about 8:30 last night. It went from being like glass to 2' white caps in about 5 minutes. Too bad because the bite was really on, oh well, there is always next weekend LOL.
  22. Ahhhh, another opportunity presents itself Use the past 2 1/2 years experience as a stepping stone to the future, you'll do fine.
  23. That is wonderful news Lew! You are right about Toronto General, without them I wouldn't have Sue with me today!
  24. Well Steve, if no one does something about it who will? Go for it! It might only be one of many that are in poor condition but if you can get it corrected, it will be one less. Good for you for doing something about it!
  25. First queston I always ask when I am calling a company about anything is "who am I speaking with?" I find it puts things on a more personal level, there is instant accountability, and besides, I like to know who I am talking with be the outcome good or bad. When I ran my own company, the phones were always answered with "good morning/afternoon/evening, this is Cliff/Sue/Linda......., how can I help you?"
