  1. Being a local boy, I think it will be a great miove if the deal goes through. Sounds like the guy is a true fan of the game and wants to produce a winner. On the Bills front, since Rogers Communications is looking at purchasing Maple Leafs Entertainment, a good chunk of there collateral will be tied up. Doubt if they will have the revenus to support the Bills as well. Also heard this morning that the proposed purchaser of the Sabres may have interest in purchasing the Bills.
  2. I agree the dump and chase sytle is boring to watch. That is why I enjoy my Saturday evening's watching Hockey Night in Canada for the West Coast game. The sytle is so more appealing. Sabres also need to rid themselves of the dead weight. You think management would have figured that our last season when they were knocked out in the first round. Status quoi when it comes to Buffalo sports.
  3. I will second the GMC Envoy. I have a 07 and tow a 2003 Starcraft Islander. In the 60 mph range the SUV rpm's are around 2000 and yes that is out of OD. Tom
  4. Just walked outside from the office over here in Grand Island, NY. The sky is getting very dark and the wind has died. Very humid outside and you can hear thunder in the distance.
  5. I have the same issue as described but use the same procedure as DanielM to get the water flowing from the pump. Tom
  6. Felt it at the office on Grand Island in New York.
  7. Just returned from the West Bay area yesterday. South Muskrat and the outer portion of German's Bay had a decent hatch going. We did catch walleyes in both of these areas. Hope this helps. Tom.
  8. Looks like you may have been fishing off the South Gap around the departure bouy. Nice sized jack perch. Tom
  9. Try Boat Trader online. You can perform a detailed search by zip code and surrounding area: www.boattrader.com Tom
  10. Try going to the MinnKota site and hit the Where to Buy tab in the upper right hand corner. It will supply you with a listing of dealers in the Buffalo area. I would contact one of them to see if they stock or can receive the model you wish to purchase. Hope this helps. Tom
  11. If you are willing to spend a little more money, I would purchase a man hole cover style tip up versus the T style. The man hole cover style insulates the hole and will keep it ice free. Tom
  12. Blaque, Very cool pictures. That storm dumped around 10-12 inches of snow in my driveway in the few hours that it stuck around. I work on Grand island and the sun was shining all day but around noon when I went to lunch you could see that the squall line moved North. Needless to say it was a fun ride home. Tom
  13. Wax worms tipped on a jig are killer in cold water conditions and the Spring. If you can't get your hands on the natural bait, try the Berkley Power grubs in pink a try.
  14. BillM, Yes there are some amazing and scenic waters in the area. I have recently discovered the joy's of the area you pointed out with the guidance of a fellow angler. The point I was trying to make comes up every year. Yes, many areas are known, but why the need to state specifics. Tom
  15. There are secret spots in NY? lol Yes BillM there are still a few spots in WNY that get minimal pressure. These areas are kept tight lipped as they are a fisherman's utopia. Maybe when you visit and walk some of the local WNY waters, you may find a jewel in the ruff. I would have figured that Justin, an individual that is so passionate about his sport, would have had the ethics and common courtesy not to post specific locations on a blog. I am sure these actions would not be tolerated if they affected your local tributaties? Hopefully we will meet on the water some day and share our experiences. Tom
  16. Glad to see you are enjoying the steelie/brown fishing on the NY side of the pond. And thank you for not stating specific locations of where you fished like you did on your WFN blog posting. Good Fishing, Tom
  17. I would suggest hooking up with a fellow fisherman that has fished steelies in the past. If that option is not available, while on the water observe fellow anglers around you. Try to observe their techniques and mimic the presentation. Your first fish will come, patience grasshopper. Good fishing, Tom
  18. There is a town launch ramp in Lewiston on North Water St. Not sure why it would be closed unless they are performing repairs.
  19. The hills of the Southern Tier were hit with several inches of snow over the weekend causing the runoff that spiked the water levels. We went over it Sunday on the way to a fishing location, chaulky brown color. Won't be fishable for several days as long as we do not receive additional precipitation.
  20. Nice looking jigs Blaque. Tried fishing one of the medium sized tribs in the Southern Tier Sunday morning. Water was brownish in color with around 6-8 inches of visability in the runs. The fish were in and rolling around but were not willing to hit our presentations. A torrential downpour occurred around 9:00 AM and the water turned chocolate. Decieded to head home and take a nap before the football games started. My go to jig colors are white or white and a hint of pink. Creeks should be fishing well once they start to clear. Tom
  21. Very cool web site. I just returnded from Key Largo two weeks ago but was unable to get out for any Tarpon. Caught a few smaller cudas from around the marina at the hotel we stayed at. One of our friends is looking at renting a house in Big Pine Key in February. If all goeas as planned, I will hopefully have a chance at catching another silver king. Tom
  22. If you ever get the opportunity to fish for Tarpon, go for it. Imagine using medium action spinning gear and catching a fish I would compare to a smallmouth but on steroids. Had the pleasure of fishing for tarpon on a trip to Puerto Rico. Had a 100 lbs. class fish on but lost it near the boat when the leader broke. Lost another quality fish when it jumped out of the water like a missile. I was in complete awe that I forgot to bow to the mighty king. I was able to land two smaller tarpon around 15-20 lbs. Amazing how they turn there bodies sideways, just like smallies, thumping there tails trying to stay down. Tom
  23. Great catch. Don't let the militant attitude of some muskie fisherman bring you down. Nothing wrong with teaching people the appropiate way to handle and release a ski but why the need for the harrassment.
  24. Being from the states I don't under your beef about people wearing patriotic items or clothing. I myself will be wearing a US Flag proudly on my shirt and will have several flags out around my home. My father-in-law was a pretty close look alike to the Uncle Sam character in American History. He would proudly march in the 4th of July parade for the town. He passed a few years ago and I can still remember him telling me every year, this is a great country we live in. Be happy that you have the choices and freedoms of a free society. Tom
