Gentlemen, this is frightening, and serious
Jigger replied to Dave Bailey's topic in General Discussion
Dairy might have its drawbacks. But without it we wouldnt have our good friends cheddar, mozzarella, asiago, bocconcini, parmesan, ricotta, blue, feta, romano, brie in all its awesome forms, and all the cream sauces and desserts one could think of. I know its not bacon but if given the choice... Ive thought it over and bacon wins by a slim margin. Boy is dairy tasty though! -
After you've been around awhile, you get to chatting with enough folks and one thing usually leads to another. Aside from Pike opener and Bass opener, I find that I tend to g2g with more OFNers in the fall. More often than not Bass is the main quarry. But you never know when something out of the blue might surprise you. I've fished with a pretty good number of past and present board members Bucktail, Sinker, Crazyhook, Cudz, Lucid, Highdrifter, GBW, and a few others may have passed this way or that. Thanks to all that have shared a boat, a pier, lakeside, shoreline or a riverbank. I've taken away something from each of you and, hopefully, left something in return. Just thought I'd start this thread in honour of OFNers that maybe YOUve spent some time with and maybe drop a story, or simply a pic of others that have passed your way... Thanks OFC for being the resource that brings us together! Sinker and I got out a few times in search of skis in the Kawarthas. But there was a cursed net involved that didn't help matters. Don't let him fool you, he loves catching these. Who doesn't? Lucid enjoys slowing down the pace and really picking spots apart. Was out with him this past bass opener and he put on an absolute clinic! Sure hes known as a T.O. pike guy, but hes a self-admitted bass addict. Highdrifter joined me last Thanksgiving for a day up in Haliburton. I owed him one after getting skunked the last time he was in my boat. He brought a friggin banana on board. Guess what? As soon as I made him throw it overboard we erased the skunk that had been dogging us that day too! He did ok for himself that day... theres a vid of this one, but I can't figure out how to embed it. So... I've been blessed to fish with Cudz a few times the last couple of years and can't thank him enough for the lessons learned. Hes the first guy to show me the dropshot technique. Even offered me a rod pre-rigged. I turned it down thinking my tube would be adequate. I got schooled. He can grow a heck of a 'stache and catches ridiculous fish... GBW and I come from a relative past. We knew each other back in highschool but never enough to go fishing. Been out a couple of times now thanks to OFC. Unfortunately for us, aside from a nice fish early on my side, fish were scarce this day until we were just about ready to go he says "I don't care if its even a perch, just let me catch one!" As if on queue... Thanks again OFNers, you're alright by me.

Problem is, theres also growing demand for the meat. Growing a cow naturally cannot keep up with the supercow in terms of conception to tablefare. Also why organic meat is so much costlier than regular. Edit to add that corn was a staple food in some cultures long before the Old Testament was even a thought. -

Sooo more people will turn to small scale agriculture and some will hunt and barter with the organic meat they harvested. Wheres the problem? Might have been more inclined to hit the three Turkeys i slowed down for earlier had i read this first. But i digress... -
The fact that fall is here buoys the spirit knowing the fatfish will start showing up. I look forward to the Thanksgiving- ice up period every year. Whatever happens before that goes out the window. That being said, this summer was fairly slow for me in terms of getting out on the water and, as a result, not really getting a grip on patterns the fish were on. Again, none of that will matter shortly.

Nothing better to start a work day than watching a cool muskie vid and finishing a coffee. Wish i was out there right now!!! Congrats man, your exitement level was on MAX! -
They could vote to accept. But i think that most of them can survive the next little while without a cheque . But they do want to "work". Indeed, alot have already secured meaningful employment elsewhere. Also, if you pay any mind to some of the most productive workers, this "labour" stoppage may keep some of the best workers from returning at all.

My sister married a Swiss. Their home team is Bern. They signed Rick Nash and Jumbo Joe Thornton. Not everyone is depressed over this.

A buddy of mine has a cottage out near Kingston. The lake he's on was infested with thousands of jellies this year. I have a pic at home of a couple that he brought home. Pretty cool looking. Heres a link from the US, but its the Jelly in question. http://nas.er.usgs.gov/queries/factsheet.aspx?SpeciesID=1068

Open a new thread if you want to get into "the BIG 3". Combining bailouts and lockouts wont keep this thread alive long.

If you watch hockey, pay for hockey in any way or even buy some Little Caesars once in awhile, you can comment on the situation. Thanks for the article. Dryden always has a way with words.

Thx Stoty, figured that was the case. Ive been using straight mono with no ill effects but noticed that alot of the fish were just there. Certainly feel the biters, even in 25+fow, just not the mushy dead weight fish. Think this fall im gonna ramp up the line abit. Been using those Stringease hooks all summer. Theyre great! Problem with the slammers, and Senkos while we're at it, is that the fish love them too much. Almost have to put them in the monthly budget. They're that good.

For the guys that run braid for a mainline, do you tie the braid to the hook or join to the fluoro before rigging to the hook?
