Actually, there is no cover on the hoop house used for the garlic. I know some farms that do plant a small covered crop to get a 2 week head start on the competition. We do leave the side walls to keep the wind down and the critters out.

Things are finally greening up around here. Ground is finally drying up. Time to get planting. Garlic is doing great.

We've actually been through this before back in the late 60's. Late April, beginning of May, Mom was in Sudbury and we were being watched by Gram. The ice started Friday into the next morning, followed by a foot or more of snow. Schools were closed for 3 days, and we could not go outside because the power lines in front of the house were down and buried in the ice and snow. After that came the flooded ditches with the melt.
