  1. I used to work the cleanup crew in the Toronto subways. Train going 60 leaves a real mess.
  2. Seed soil fertilizer mix is something to apply in the earlier part of spring. later spring switch to sod or sod in the fall. Moisture retention and root development are everything. If you are laying sod on clay be sure to lay an inch of topsoil first.
  3. Well said. Time to start producing from our own resources.
  4. I still have a few jars of Oh My
  5. Actually, there is no cover on the hoop house used for the garlic. I know some farms that do plant a small covered crop to get a 2 week head start on the competition. We do leave the side walls to keep the wind down and the critters out.
  6. Things are finally greening up around here. Ground is finally drying up. Time to get planting. Garlic is doing great.
  7. If you are in the area of Bobcaygeon, I'm at the fairgrounds for the weekend as ther is a fishing trade show tied in with the tournament. Hope to meet some more OFCers while there. Stop by and say helloooo.
  8. They are a blast on light tackle during the spring feed and spawn. Especially when they colour up.
  9. We got pike and walleye on the Welland R this morning. And yes it was a tough bite.
  10. She is my morning smile. The daughter and her man can leave any time they want, but George stays with me. Today she caught her first fish.
  11. We got away with minimal damage in our neighbourhood.
  12. Quality time with my grandaughter on a vicious blustery day. Nothing like helping Grampa make some old fashioned rice crispy squares.
  13. Guess I'll have to make a point of stopping by enroute to Windsor or Chatham. Don't worry Dan, you'll be fishing with the wee one sooner than you think.
  14. Spent Saturday morning with the grandaughters. Got enough for a decent feed tween the 4 of us. We'll be doing a lot of fishing over the next 6 weeks as we registered into a 6 week multi species tournament with CFN. DeeDee even got herself a 26" carp
  15. "hmmm whats a guy to do here..." You do what is right by your conscience, Akrisoner
  16. Living the dream Simon. All we have down here is slush and mud.
  17. Mateus and Mogan David were my Mother's fave's back in the early 70's.
  18. We've actually been through this before back in the late 60's. Late April, beginning of May, Mom was in Sudbury and we were being watched by Gram. The ice started Friday into the next morning, followed by a foot or more of snow. Schools were closed for 3 days, and we could not go outside because the power lines in front of the house were down and buried in the ice and snow. After that came the flooded ditches with the melt.
  19. LCBO and Brewers were monopolies created by the province. LCBO was controlled by the province, Brewers was owned and operated by the big 3: Molsons, Labatts, Carling-O'Keefe. Up until the late 70's the only brands in an LCBO were foreign, and Brewers only sold their own big 3 labels. The first cracks in the wall were the introduction of Brador as a strong beer, and Miller as the first non stubby non Canuck beer.
  20. That and Blue Nun. Well known in the day as "panty remover"
  21. And every 15-20 years we get to see snow in May. Wasn't that long ago I was in Orillia for perchfest around the 1st of May and got caught in spring clothes when the snow started coming down,
  22. Lots of ice down here. Guess I'll keep snug and warm and safely at home today. Besides I have lots of tackle to work on.
  23. Luremaking.com
  24. Jumped from 1.17 to 1.31 yeaterday. Gonna have to hijack me a tanker truck.
