  1. Hall's Harbour is a known, overpriced, lobster stop out Fundy way. Don't waste your time in Eastern passage. If you're looking for fresh, cook your own, The are lots of small outports with available lobster. Parkers Cove comes to mind just before you get to Annapolis.
  2. Finally got the puter fixed. Seems all my operating systems were wiped out when the power pack died. At least that's the tekkie's guess. Has someone finally invented the perfect lure? Is Terry catching fish? Is Mercman still fertilizing the site
  3. This practice, like many others, has been around for quite some time. Truth is most people don't know their cuts of meat so it becomes easier to get away with the mock cut. I know that most breaded meats are cut and paste product. It's the fancy cuts like wrapped filet mignon or london broils and "boneless steaks" that you have to watch. Just like people passing off mutton for lamb. The average consumer does not know any better
  4. No matter what position, or proposal the OFAH chooses to support, one corner of the room is going to be pissed off. I can see the OFAH standing back and waiting until there is a concensus. Something that is currently lacking. After all the OFAH is predomintly a political lobby.
  5. To sustain such suggestions are you willing to support zone by zone, or species specific licensing like in Europe? The average taxpayer won't fork out for it. Hoewever, if we want to up the return rates to spawning grounds, maybe we should just close those year round exeptions for trout on L Ontario. I'm not a trout angler per say, but from simple observation, there is a lot of scapegoating going on. If the damage is as bad as stated, reducing the limits is fine, but at the same time, close off all the open tribs until April opener. All I hear is "make someone else sacrifice", "it's their fault" but "don't touch my holy grail". Rather hypocritical from an observer's perspective.
  6. His original idea was good, but it has since beeen turned into a corporate cash grab. In Canada, "Earth Day" is a registered trademark coplete with marketing strategy, sanctioned product line, royalties, etc.. . If you use the name publicly you are billed for royalties. Again, you try and do good but end up being screwed. Been there, done it once, and never again.
  7. In the day, the best cup of coffee was CountryStyle. I'd still be hard pressed to fork out for a cup on a regular basis. As for doughnuts ( notice the Canajun spelling!) Tim's have shrunk down portion sizes to near half. Compare their fritter to one from CountryStyle. On the way home down the #11 1'll still stop at the CountryStyle south of Orillia.
  8. Hey Lew, how's about we prod them memories for some of them dirty navy ditties? Certainly a different sound of music
  9. Nice fish. You're living in a beautiful part of the province.
  10. Good job Jacques. We had started open water season here, but everything has iced back up the past 2 nights.
  11. They also represent the interests of charter boat operators and outfitters on the Great lakes.
  12. Wouldn't that be a porn star
  13. Here is the stupidity behind this save energy nonsense. They want us to save energy, reduce consumption, and allegedly we'll do the earth a good thing and save money. We've done good at reducing consumption and hydro usage is down. What happens next? Hydro declares a shortfall in revenues due to an energy surplus and rewards us with increases in hydro rates, and smart meters. Then they practically give away the surplus hydro south of the border rather than downscaling energy production. Why would I voluntarily choose to screw myself yet again.
  14. Me and the Newf can start another food thread
  15. You cannot use a photocopy in you vehicle, is correct. Using a photocopy for the puposes of the fishing license was the suggestion offered by the MNR. I do a lot of shore fishing with handicap parking nearby.
  16. If you have a disabled permit, that becomes your fishing license. Obviously, if you are using handicapped parking, you cannot have the permit in 2 places, so a photocopy of both sides of the original will do. Just as a senior's birth certificate/proof of birth becomes the senior's license.
  17. Tim's is a desperation stop when there is no other place nearby, like Hwy 400 at 5 in the morning. I start every road trip with a mug of homebrew but that is only good for the first hour.
  18. I was always told to look before you leap. Ever more so today with fewer dollars to spend. I find I do quite well at local shops for price and the service is far superior.
  19. Just another media hype crock of doodoo. No different than Earth Day. Spend a day doing environmental penance so we can carry on as usual the other 364 Kinda like telling a mobster that all sins can be forgiven with a couple of Hail Mary's and a Novina or two for good measure.
  20. Buck a pack
  21. RBR = Root Beer River
  22. I cast minnow jigs for folks fishing the Niagara, and they usually ask for 3/8 or 1/2, so I've never gotten the larger mold.
  23. We used to dump whole cans of ground coffee in the back of reefer trailers. Nothing else could mask the smell of raw chicken fleisch.
  24. Have a great day. You won't feel older til the morning after.
