  1. Bought a 2014 Toyota Corolla with the CVT , had my doubts but you know what it seems to be pretty good. It shifts different from a regular auto that takes some getting used to . The car is great on gas as well !
  2. Well my trusty 8 hp Merc. finally started to have problems on my last trip . It is about time really considering the bouncing around it takes going down the trails over the last 10 years . She doesn't owe me anything !!! Anyways , I have fuel coming out the carb and I would assume it would be a float issue but not sure . Funny thing is , is that it runs perfect except when I idle right down . It feels like it wants to choke out as well there is a small amount of fuel leaking out the carb as previously noted . I am going to fire it up today and let it run a bit to see if it there is still a problem , maybe the ride out on my last trip jarred something in the carb and somehow no more problem (doubt it though) If all else fails , does anyone know of a good outboard mechanic in the Barrie area that could help me out . Thanks
  3. That's how you do it , well done !
  4. What a shame , RIP Robin
  5. Very nice Doesn't get any more relaxing than that
  6. So many places to explore in this country first for me , top of my list is to get up to Plummer's and hit some trophy lake trout !
  7. I will keep adding items along the way as I think of them - small pack of dental floss ( stuck piece of steak in the teeth can be annoying after a couple days) - tweezers ( embedded slivers can be a problem after a couple days as well )
  8. Those are some nice bass there CK , congrats !
  9. Absolutely spectacular report Moose , some of those pictures are crazy good That trip is on my bucket list for sure , one day that place will see my shadow .
  10. I have not been on many fly ins but have been on my fair share of backwoods adventures . Good list and I cant really add anything new but can definitely say that baby wipes and duct tape are always on the list . As well no matter what time of year I will always have bug spray . I have seen bugs as bad in September as in May so you never know ! I will also take a boat motor kit with me that has various things in it that if anything basic breaks down , it can be fixed . Been on a couple trips where the outboard has broken down in the middle of no where with no way to fix it . Never again !!! Several lighters or waterproof matches too .
  11. What can I say Mike , another fabulous trip and report . Thanks
  12. There is a launch at Glenwood , not sure about cost . There are several free ones around lake . Easiest one is just behind Mckellar Store . Take road behind store (follow shoreline)and follow road for about 200 yards and there is one there (good fries at corner) and one just a little bit further down the same road about 1 km . Another one is about 10 km down Centre Road (Mckellar) to a bridge that crosses the Manitouwabing River , free as well ! Good Luck
  13. Welcome , great bunch here . I live in Mansfield just on the south/west side of the base , lots of good river fishing in this area . Spring and fall are the best times for trout and salmon . Like others have said Simcoe is a great fishery as well ! I would assume that you are an active member of the military and if so I believe you would have access to Mountain Lake at CFB Meaford (LFCATC Meaford) I would look into that if I was you . I have had the pleasure of fishing there several times and it is worth it . Mind you I have not been there in a couple years , at the time it was a great smallmouth bass and walleye lake . At that time only military and members of east grey hunters and anglers were allowed access , and for all you "Lurkers" out there I wouldn't be trying to sneak in for a quick fish . It is a military base Good luck !
  14. I'm hearing that the fishing section is not the best and that is disappointing . I am going to try and get in there next week and see for myself . Does anyone know if we will be able to order on line and have it shipped to the store in Barrie for pickup and avoid all the costs of ordering online ?
  15. Looks like a great spot Mike , this place will be on my radar for sure Thanks for putting that together for us .
  16. Beauty spot there Drifter , lakers right out your front door !
  17. If I didn't have to work I would be in for sure , thanks for the offer !
  18. That's a bummer about the boats , what are you going to do now ? We have some cached boats on a lake and have never had a problem . We pull them way up into the bush so they are not an eye sore for anyone going by "out of sight out of mind" There is a bass lake I have been fishing for a long time now that has at least 15 cached boats at the end of the trail all pilled up every which way , really looks terrible . Its not a matter of if but when the MNR see's this and they will pull these things out or tag them . Love the sluice box , you never know do you , good luck !
  19. Ya , glad you guys are alright !
  20. I have my best lake trout days in the heat of summer as well Mike , if you can find a deep basin with a bit of a shelf or small flat adjacent to it , its game on ! Not surprising this guy is getting some big ones in the summer . Concentrations of lakers in the deep holes for sure .
  21. Check out the silver car , did it roll down the street or what ? If it did good old mother nature can even park cars !
  22. All calm now in Dufferin County (Mansfield) Going out to check the property for damage !
  23. I heard it was bad in Angus , but not that bad !
  24. I live just west of Angus , and I can confirm it was really bad !!!!
