  1. That's Badass!
  2. My sons and I witnessed the same thing in my Dads pond a few weeks ago. They were the salamanders with the blue dots on them. I caught a couple so the kids could have a closer look. The branches nearby had thousands of eggs on them. Cute critters for sure. Great video
  3. Smart creature. He knows something is up with the camera and just has to find out more. I love my trail cam. So many animals show up when you're not there.
  4. Beautiful trout pics. Sunset is awesome too. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I will stop feeding them by the end of March and start a food plot in August. Come October everyone in the family should be able to harvest a doe. I have plenty of pics of the coyotes too but have yet to find any victims besides rabbits.
  6. I read the article from the MNR about supporting the deer herds. Very different from what they usually recommend. I bait for deer every year during the hunting season and then stop by mid December. This year my Dad and I decided to keep feeding them since winter hit so hard and early. The deer have been taking advantage of the free meals every day and there is a highway of tracks to and from the food pile. Even with all the snow the entire area is packed down solid with activity. I took down the trail cam on Jan first because it stops working after -15. Here are a few pictures taken at the end of December.
  7. Those pictures would be enough to keep most people from ever trying to go ice fishing. BRRR! Good on ya for giving it a go.
  8. Me on days like today.
  9. more
  10. And another. I will try to find a better quality one.
  11. A pic from the original gathering
  12. Thanks for the comments guys. We also baited for bear on both the fishing trip and the moose hunt but nobody came a'callin'.
  13. After having a great time fishing at Eddie North's during the first week of Sept I looked forward to going back.. I had scored a trophy gator and walleye and I wanted to continue the streak. I returned to the camp with my Father and Bro-in-law Mike for the first week of October to chase the mighty Moose. We had scored two Bull tags for the draw so we were pretty stoked. We had a glorious sky greet us at the airport before had took off and headed for the river. Once at camp we got right to it. We jumped in the boat and went looking for prime areas to do some calling. It was past the peek fall colours but the landscape was still beautiful. We enjoyed plenty of wildlife while sitting tight waiting for a Bull to return our calls. My Dad also was able to watch 4 wolves for about 20 minutes but he did get any pics. He enjoyed running along the river to find the perfect setup. During midday we also managed to catch a few decent pike and some walleye for dinner. We also enjoyed some pretty sweet skies and sunsets. Things finally came together for Mike and he dropped the hammer on a great Bull. It was a bit of work to get that beast out of that bay and into the boat but Eddie was still thumbs up. It was a satisfying boat ride back to camp. I look forward to heading north again for another adventure and I am glad that my youngest son is now old enough to join in the fun. He is looking forward to it also. Coming soon........my Whitetail hunt report.
  14. My wife and woke up from a loud boom just before 6am and then we heard a smaller one around 6:30. First time for me. My wife made me investigate the house after the first one. I thought it may have been from a gas exposion and was looking for a fire in the area. Seems odd that I have never heard of a 'frost quake' before. I am going the conspiracy route: underground blasting for military bunkers in preparation for dooms day.
  15. Great write up of an awesome trip. Congrats on a beast of a fish. Thanks for sharing.
  16. If he was mugged he would have went straight to the police and then straight back to the room where he was attacked to get his stuff. He had to sober up first I guess or was too drunk to remember the room number.
  17. I went fishing with the young lads this afternoon out from Gilford for a few hours. We walked out to just over 15 fow. Caught a couple of dozen dinks, no keepers. Was a nice temp to be out.
  18. It will be tough to beat a year like this one but I am sure you will have fun trying.
  19. Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated.
  20. I have been trying to find a definite answer to that question online but can not find any info on paying tax on a used atv when I buy one privately. Anyone know the deal on this? I would guess that it includes boats.
  21. That's a wild looking one for sure.
  22. I saw about a dozen guys fishing out from Gilford today. No idea how thick the ice is though
  23. Lots and lots of quality fish there. Good stuff
  24. Buckshot wastes to much meat. Even a rifled slug is a better way to go and they easily stay true for 60 to 80 yards. A better reach than buckshot which I wouldn't trust much past 50 yards.
