  1. Metal shouldn't get hot in microwave because it contains no moisture.
  2. Then you're probably keeping the grass too long. Microtus pennsylvanicus needs a certain depth to the grass so that they can create 'runways' through it, basically tunnels in overhanging grass that allow them to transit the area without being seen by predators. Keeping the grass shorter foils their plans. Another problem could be with predators. If there is an insufficient population of snakes, hawks, owls, foxes, etc., then meadow vole numbers can explode.
  3. Simply cutting the grass will take care of them, there is an optimum height for them, can't quite remember what it is. But keep it short and you won't have a problem with them. Outside of that, what's the problem? They aren't disease vectors, they won't invade your home looking for food in the pantry, and they won't keep you up all night with drunken parties. Harmless.
  4. Built there, but it's an American company.
  5. Ko-Man-Chi and LIVETARGET lures (Koppers) have been added. Consider LIVETARGET to be tentative until manufacturing site can be pinned down.
  6. The information I have says that they are still manufactured here. If that's incorrect let me know for sure and I'll remove them. Thanks for the input!
  7. Some classic chuckles on there!
  8. Okay, just did some editing. Removed some dead links, updated others, added a few canoe manufacturers. As always, input is welcome.
  9. Pretty good, but the second one with the 'toxic lake' was an absolute knee-slapper!
  10. Interesting to see a red shouldered hawk amongst them, never knew them to be into scavenging. I guess in winter they'll take whatever comes.
  11. Lake Gowganda has a year-round open season on smallmouth, they must have reached pest proportions.
  12. I'm busy this weekend, but I've put a link to this on my facebook page. You should get a facebook link thingy on the web site, people would just need to click on it to add it to their page. You could even start a 'Fishing for Tyler' facebook page as well, couldn't hurt!
  13. There is, we had one just a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it took the destruction of the world's economy to do it.
  14. Excellent job T.J.! My wife works with autistic children in the TDSB system, the work is challenging but very rewarding.
  15. Too true. I can remember a few years ago when Venezualan oil workers were fighting for better pay and working conditions, and people were saying things like 'crack a few heads', and 'send in the army to run the wells and refineries'. But when a group of OPEC billionaires decide they and their investment partners want to make more money they cut back on production, and it's called 'responding to market forces'.
  16. When I go out just catching a fish classifies as 'strange'.
  17. Well, I was fully expecting some people (not necessarily here) to start grumbling about how a bunch of malcontents in North Africa were making things difficult for us when we went to the gas station. Instead I've only heard them griping about how the oil companies are using it as an excuse to gouge us again. Maybe I've been hanging around the wrong people for too long, but I find it refreshing that people are actually caring that there seems to be a genuine push for democracy, human rights, justice, and all the other things we hold dear in this country. It doesn't seem to matter that they are a different ethnicity, religion, or language, we seem to be seeing their fight as much more important than our inconvenience. And that's a good thing.
  18. I'm certain that the people in those oppressed lands have a sense of humour, but their chances of expressing it have been as restricted as anything else. Try making a joke about the government or the religion and you'll find someone knocking on your door. We have that freedom, and if you don't exercise a freedom don't be surprised if it's taken away someday. But just in case it needed to be said, IT'S A JOKE! There, is that okay? I think it's even more ridiculous to get upset about someone making disparaging remarks about a sports team.
  19. A tidal wave is enveloping the world, people are standing up and demanding that they be treated with respect and dignity, be given freedom to enjoy their lives, and the right to expect a bright future. They want to throw off the shackles, and rid themselves of the despots who have made them miserable. Question: How long will it be before Toronto Maple Leafs fans realise that this might work?
  20. We've been camping at Wheatley in the middle of May every year since 1984. This year we'll be there from the 20th to the 23rd. The carp are sometimes so thick that you can almost walk across the creek without getting your feet wet, and they can keep you awake at night with continual thrashing. Please, do us a favour and remove as many of the damned things as you can!
  21. Saw that a couple of years ago when it was first announced, still freaks me out. It also confirms what I've always believed - that nature and reality are far more wondrous than any fiction.
  22. Can't wait for opening day. I miss the days when even the pre-season games would be on the radio, now we're lucky to get a few broadcast. Will the Jays do better than last year? Hard to say, with all the changes it might be a while before they gel as a team. But the future is looking bright in my opinion, and AA has shown that he won't be afraid to make a deal when necessary. The biggest change may be the manager. Cito was a nice guy, but he basically refused to play the running game and manufacture runs, relying too much on power. I would have loved to see how last year's powerful line-up would have contributed if we had done some more bunting and played 'small ball' a lot more.
  23. Yeah, Parks and Rec were the ones I sent the e-mail to, maybe they're away for the winter, someplace where there's fish.
