  1. Agreed, not to offend you nroadrunner but it seems from your responses that you are just beggining to sort through your setups in terms of when to/not use a FC lead and with what types of setups & technics.Best advice I could give you is put A LOT of though into these factors and research some,it should help you really key in on the best setups.
  2. 4.4lbs ish
  3. Take a pass, for $4k or alittle more you can get a much bigger/better boat, example 2 summers ago I sold my 1989 18 1/2'Gambler with a low hr 1994 150 Johnson ready to fish for $5,200,keep looking.
  4. Thx HTHM,I'll try them Brian I can run it as is no problem, just don't want it cracking too much more and ending up in pieces. It's custom made,no swaping it out,I could just take it off but it serves a purpose so would rather weld it.
  5. Guys I have a checkered aluminum skid plate (flat plate to improve hole shot and keep water out of the JP) under my JP that has developed 2 cracks and need it welded, anyone in Durham region area able to weld this?
  6. Everything posted is correct and no you don't need to give 72hrs notice.Just be sure to have separate receipts. One thing not mentioned, you cannot get a temp plate from here unless you show a ownership title 1st (ie. buy boat and get papers before going) and most states don't have travel plates they issue so you are stuck either getting seller to leave the plate with you or bringing a Ont. trailer plate off of another trailer for the return trip. When you go to MTO they will ask for trailer weight and may request that you take it to scales (yet you don't have a plate yet!!),offer to have the trailer manufacturer fax them the weight, worked for me:).If you buy from a non-title state you will need to have that states MTO fax our MTO verifying this fact. Why they don't have a master list of which states title or not is beyond me:(
  7. The above post is exactly what leads to tension between cottagers and fisherman, too many cottagers have a misguided view of these percieved "rights" that leads them to think they have a form of ownership over the adjacent water from their property. There are no "rights" that go along with ownership beyond existing property laws, plan and simple. They are in place and clearly outline a parties rights, just as I have no legal right to trespass, they have no legal right to infringe on someone fishing the adjacent shoreline.
  8. Not from the supplier he is looking for you can't,I know because I'm one of his customers ,money doesn't always talk in fact most distributors would tell you too keep your money unless your a dealer. But go ahead and tell him what you like.
  9. Ben is top shelf for sure.I launched once and had forgotten my boat keys and he gave me 2 sets of OMC dealer keys to try and get me going.I have a shop myself but I always send him customers if they are out his way for boat rentals or whatever, they don't get any better.
  10. You can't buy them direct if thats why your wondering, they are only sold to dealers.
  11. Look at Berkley fireline braid,it came out last yr. and is VERY smooth (like Samuri but without abrasion issues).Once you cast it on a BC you won't like fishing PP .
  12. She only needs an Ontario lic. if she is actually fishing,I am a lic. issuer so take it to the bank as fact.
  13. I have a customer looking for a spotter, the event is in two weeks. call Darryl @ 905-342-5786 if your interested
  14. marvin its gooch u mean like a sack of crap !!!! haha lol...
  15. Well put JP,I was gonna post on this yesterday and take the same tack as you. Many people on this board that don't run boats capable of 50mph + may assume that you were careless running your boat balls to the wall and got bit, this would be WRONG to assume as it can happen to a guy in a tinny with a 115hp just as easy.Accidents will always happen regardless of the amount of care taken to avoid them, thats why they are called accidents. What happened to JP has nothing to do with being reckless (I'm assuming JP:)) or the fact his boat runs fast so any tone in this thread implying he caused it or it shouldn't have happened because he's JP etc. is crap, anyone anytime can get wet.
  16. Trigger X spray for sure, but you have too soak your baits before using them
  17. Yesterday I watched someone in a I/O pleasure boat run right over the shallow cribs at the tracks on Rice and not fully planed out, miracle he didn't hit the tracks but the worst part was he had a kid sitting out on the nose, second time I have seen this in 2 weeks,no rehab stupidity!!!!!
  18. It was the bigger block 200/225's that were bad.The 60* v-4's and v-6's were very good as long as they had the injector upgrade done (2000yr service bulletin I think). That engine can only run @ 50-1 ratio it was BRP that came out with the xd50-100 oiler setting later.
  19. 1/The Gov't. has already stated they have no intention of making wearing a pfd law. 2/If yu checked you would see the 2 single biggest causes of drowning involve a/drinking b/going to the bathroom when the boat is stopped, therefore not likely wearing a pfd.Having a law making it mandatory to wear them under power won't save these people.
  20. That's the right answer,we will just tell ALL those considered high risk for the above to stay off the water from June til Sept. because it's more important to put into law the same "wear your pfd" message that has been esposed for 30yrs. yet a select few choose not to pay attention.I'm sure no one would dare get drunk etc. and not bother to wear a pfd once it's law .If you looked at what caused the person to end up in the water instead of "if they had a pfd on" you may realize the law would be about as effective as the gun control has been on saving lives
  21. I would venture to bet that there would be far more fatalities on the water as result of a mandatory pfd law.Would you care to guess how many people suffer strokes/heart attacks etc. due to being forced to wear a heat retaining pfd on a hot day?Or would you just make it law that everyone have a auto inflateable @ $175+ ea.?You can be injured or killed while engaging in untold numbers of activities,do you legislate for everything,do you see the futility of this?
  22. YOU CAN'T LEGISLATE AGAINST STUPIDITY!!!! If people don't recognize when the danger level reaches a threshold were it would be prudent to wear a pfd making it an uninforceable law won't change that. There are some thing you can legislate for with positive results but this isn't one of em.If you looked closely at the fatalities no doubt impairment/poor judgement factored into most drownings, most are people drunk or going to the bathroom which is done when stopped, you gonna make us wear pfd's while stopped too because of a few careless people? Many things in life have a degree of risk, education allows you to better deal with it than legislation ever will.
  23. I never suggested it should be a yr. round fishery.I think a c/r season from perhaps the 3rd wk in May until the current opening might work.I agree with the issue of tying it into other seasons.By late May in a typical yr. a high percentage of fish would have finished the spawn cycle and be off the beds and it has been proven in studies that nest recruitment from sucessful nests can offset the void of nest failure due to the balance of food/competion.
