Well this is just my opinion but I sell all of the rods mentioned so far and based on what I have read here's my take. For $100 the Fenwick hmx is one ofTHE best rods out there (All Star ASR's take #1 spot) and the Rapala R types are nice for the money as well.Rapala has a new rod called Shift that is an awsome stick (but more $'s).Compre's are nice but at a higher price point now so I give it to the Fenwick HMX.St. Croix's are nice, the best of the line up is the Avid/Legend.As far as highend Fenwick's,the elitetech rods are very sweet for the $'s.It comes down to whatever you like/spend though, these are just my opinions which won't pay for a java lol.

Well with trickle starts it's more like just passing a few heading to my first spot,it means having to cross lots of boat wakes.I do love the boat though, they are something special.

Guys go easy on him, he doesn't know much about boats and what to look for etc., he will no doubt end up buying one,he just trying to muddle through the process.

How's this for an idea Mike, get a Revo SX,cheaper than a 200e7 and imho a better reel (an thats saying ALOT) even though the Curado's are very slick.Take the Quantum and toss it out window of this debate

For the same money you could get the same boat in mint condition. It may be functionally sound but thats not very old for having the carpet redone. My general impression is that it has not been well looked after because if there was ANY pride of ownership he would NEVER have put that junk carpet in the boat to begin with,100% pass on this 1 Darryl.
-
60-70 hours??? I did my Gambler in 19 and that was time consuming enough.Darryl I can get the carpet and help you if you decide to change it.
-
Darryl the Ranger 692 I sent you pics of will handle any water you will be fishing and is more boat than the Lund in the US.I will keep my eyes and ears open for you.

I walked a field on the south shore of Rice lake in 1981 and it was loaded with dead Jacks(saw 30-40 in a 2 acre patch),desease had wipped them out by the hundreds in that area.

Jeff I drove my brand new f-150 4x4 in there back in 89 and no problem other than some scratches but I didn't find the fishing very good, even back then it got pounded.Tell him to pick a lake with good access around there,he may just find a jewel.

puting carpet on my home made casting deck
hirk replied to fish-miester's topic in General Discussion
Fish I have read the only difference between marine and pressure treated plywood is that the marine grade can't have any gaps in the waffers. My advice is don't use less than 3/8's (1/2" is better) as it will have to much flex should you have any uneven spots under it,screw and glue it so it's a solid unit and make sure the carpet you use has both uv inhibitors and is not a closed loop cut or you will curse it everytime a hook gets near it.As mentioned by others seal up the ends and all the cuts you make to prevent water intrusion -
Good to see strong support for the shops vs. the big box stores,it has to be there or the shops won't be around when you need em.Thx for the mention Garney.Funny one Harry

I do it all the time, its not just meant for small hooks and rock shoals if you know what I'm saying

Prop identification selection and preformance
hirk replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Cliff a prop change in keeping with the rpm range you should be running at WOT will do nothing for slowing you down trolling. What you can do is keep your WOT rpm's where they should be via keeping the prop you have and installing a cav. plate fin to improve your hole shot, problem solved. -
Great product,it's real value isn't in de-carbing (which it does but any engine tuner product can do that) it's in maintaining proper injector flow thus reducing the chance of running lean due to a clogged injector and BOOM! and preventing future piston/ring carbon build up and resulting cylinder scuffing due to rings sticking.I have watched the carbon disappear from my prop barrel after using it and everyone that uses it claims improved idle quality.
-
The most important thing not mentioned here is that you MUST let the engine warm up before you turn high R's or put it under load.Due to differing metal composition you must achive a uniform ambient temperature fist to prevent whats called a cold seize and resulting cylinder damage.

The degree bass become conditioned is dependant on the amount of fishing pressure with a given bait as well as overall pressure and the nature of the bait ie. they will shy from a spinnerbait more readily than say a senko due to the lateral line signature differences and the closer resemblance to natural prey the senko represents. All this being said I know one guy that will be doing alittle old school this yr. (red shad pwr worm:)
-
Mike fished properly it will putem in the boat for sure,it is best suited as a vertical presentation (dunkin weed pockets),it can be dragged/hopped but there are other baits more effective for finesse horizontal fishing.

Bottom line is the organizer's goofed by not setting a tourny date that would allow for an adaquate pre-fish to level the field for the anglers from outside the area. You can debate pro/con the ethics of the rolled back catch/release for the event but I don't believe it reflects IN ANY WAY on the anglers themselves or that they are doing a dis service to the sport, many registered and made travel plans etc. long before the pre-fish rule was even changed.I am not saying I agree with it being rolled back but don't go bashing the people fishing it.
