  1. Some dollar stores during summer, ebay, sunglasses shop, probably bass pro, maybe walmart and Canadian Tire. eg http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksi...nglass+Retainer
  2. My personal preference: Wrap around lense that does not let in light from the sides because I find side light distracting. Light weight plastic lense fameless design. big rubber nose pads and rubber or any soft ear shaft which sits on your ear, comfortable for all day use. Usually I get a dark polarized pair for sunny days for 30- $50 because I don't want to get stressed if I lose them or scratch them. Prefer the floating kind in case I drop them off the boat otherwise I use the sunglasses retainer that floats. UV A+B full protection is a given. Usually I find them at basspro and walmart. Don't like to buy from ebay much because I can't try them on first.
  3. LED samsung is nice to have in a brighter room eg: http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/tv-vide...&returnurl= They are a bit pricey but oh so sweet. For a better cost/benefit ratio, a Panasonic Plasma in a darker environment would be a great choice especially for viewing sports due to its higher refresh rate. Also the tuf screen on a Panasonic is great to have if you have children around. If a child throws a bowl or tennis ball at an LCD, theres a good chance that screen will crack. A 40" is cutting it a bit close to use 1080p so you might want to check a 720 at your viewing distance and see if you can tell it apart from a 1080p tv. Grab yourself a cheap hdmi cable (NOT MONSTER CABLE) and a blu ray player and you're good to go. Just remember that rogers is not using 1080p...yet and it cost extra every month for the HD channels. So in some instances you're better off with a 720p tv set especially if you're not going to pay for HD channels or use a blu ray player. Personally I'd go with a 46" for my viewing at 15 feet. Might want to set aside $300-500+ for a receiver and some surround speakers if you are a movie buff. 5.1 sound is so nice to have.
  4. What retrieve method did you use? I could not catch a thing with the xrap with a constant speed retrieve (fast, or slow), so I started using a "3 foot quick pull then pause for 5 seconds" retrieve (in the same area of my previous casts) and bam! Largemouths were biting the rear treble with the white feather.

    So....

Two fish swim into a concrete wall. One turns to the other and says "dam..."
  6. Awesome report. Loved the picture quality and big fish.
  7. Thought we paid GST on tickets? If yes then the ticket cost would be $6.30.
  8. Why would you want a chan board for fishing anyhow? A forum like this is much better.
  9. I keep missing these free ticket threads! http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/?
  10. [Dundee is threatened by a mugger with a badly drawn map of Sparrow Lake] Sue Charlton: Mick, give him your wallet. "Crocodile" Dundee: What for? Sue Charlton: He's got a crudely drawn map. "Crocodile" Dundee: [chuckling] That's not a map. "Crocodile" Dundee: [Dundee draws a detailed hydrographic map of Sparrow lake] "Crocodile" Dundee: *That's* a MAP. http://www.anglersatlas.com/lakes/25370/
  11. dam, I forget everyone is still in Ice fishing mode. I was going to give a summertime fishing tip of: When fishing for pike/muskie do not yank the lure out of the water when it reaches the boat. Do a few figure "8's" first. You'll land more fish that way. Ice fishing tip hmmmm: Make sure your fishing partner did not have beans for lunch before entering the ice fishing hut.
  12. ROFL. I tried chat a few times, wanted to post pics of my new swimbaits and discuss musky treble, no one was in there . Next time.
  13. When its done it will be done. Are you really dying without chat lol? Watch chat get re enabled and everyone forgets to use it.
  14. You can just make your own chat room temporarily for now until they get the official OFC chat working: http://www.tinychat.com/OFC
  15. As long as the smoker is not throwing the cig butts in the water then I don't mind smokers. It's hard to smoke while trying to reel in and land a fish. Bad habit and waste of money imo.

  17. Sorry don't know. Of course check ebay but shipping would probably kill the deal. Maybe luremaking.com if they have DIY kits but still check the shipping cost. Possibly dollar store for a little cleo knock off? I think Candiantire or walmart would be your best bet because they buy them in bulk and get better deals than say a smaller local store. Still though I don't mind spending a bit more for the same stuff at my local store to support them.
  18. True, you can get some really nice looking lures for relatively cheap too. I landed (excuse the pun) a 4 1/2 h2o xpress sunfish swimbait for $12 http://i26.tinypic.com/24oomyh.jpg and some $3 sammies for top water.
  19. His gliders look beautiful more like artwork to be put on display rather than be fished with. I would have a heart attack if I lost a $200 lure, or a musky scratching it all up with its teeth. I bid on one of his other gliders but there's no way in hell I'll win it.
  20. A regular Sunday night, checking out ebay for dirt cheap deals and I stumble across a really sweet looking glidebait, top notch artist, at a really good price (time left 4 days). Hmm lets see what else he sells: OMG: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT I wish I could sell lures for $150. Wonder if its too late for college students to change their major to "Musky lure making".
  21. Saw this little fishing report on backwaters website http://www.backwatertackle.com/fishingreports.htm
  22. I had to google it to believe it http://www.carrotstix.com/catalog/e21_carr...he_original.htm The rod is even orange colour. Now I've seen everything. "Nano-Bio-fibers are extracted from carrots. These strong, flexible fibers are added to our bonding matrix to create a super strong bio-polymer, which is used in the creation of our ultra high modulus graphite blanks. This results in an incredibly light yet strong and responsive blank that lends itself to diverse applications and techniques. Another piece of cutting edge technology used in the creation of the “Carrot Stix” is Element 21’s stress-free design analysis program. This program allows us to create a blank that is evenly stressed from tip to butt by identifying areas that are over-stressed and allowing these to be re-designed before our mandrels are ever made. This reduces the risk of potential rod failure as well as affording a blank that is able to utilize its full mechanical potential due to the even distribution of stress along the entire blank. So what does all of this rocket science have to do with fishing? Well, consider a rod that is extremely light, can cast a country mile, so sensitive you can tell a beer can from a branch, and still allows you to place your lure right on the nose of some unsuspecting bass or walleye. That is the “Carrot Stix” experience!"
  23. "my belief is you do what is necessary to keep from getting a beating with the amount of force you apply equal to the attack." I think the above quote is wrong with respect to the law. If you believe that you or someone else are in imminent danger of great bodily harm or death then it is ok to use force exceeding what the person is dishing out as defense to immediately stop the action eg shooting someone with a knife or bat who is about to strike you. Of course you will have to explain your reasoning of your use of force model in court but I'd rather be alive and take a chance of going to jail than dead. Situational awareness is the best to use and sometimes running away does not help you if the person chasing you is faster and/or you are not a good runner. Something interesting for security guards in Ontario: If you are being attacked by someone with a knife (and can't disengage safely) and are able to disarm the suspect you then can not (legally) pick up that knife to defend yourself because a knife is not a defensive weapon. Good thing is that some flashlights have slightly curved and sharpened fronts to defend yourself which is just as lethal as a knife. Courts can't say you can't use it because if they ask, you just say its a flashlight.
  24. I think you mean the fishin' buddy? http://store.humminbird.com/category/27130...n7_Buddy_Series I remember comparing its features to a regular portable unit eg screen resolution and screen size and it came out to be more expensive for the same specs. I like the design of it though, storing the batteries in the pole.
