  1. you mean like this!!! first you have to dress up in your best hunting garb Then after you have stalked your quarry, you have to chum up the area a bit Then step 3 start fishing away They actually aren't all that bad, if you boil then up just so, they have a nice light nutty flavour I would just like to add, no actual chipmunks or resonable faximile there of where harmed during the making of this reply
  2. nice mess of fish there, looks like a pretty action packed fun day on the banks
  3. hey are you calling my kids rednecks???
  4. good to see ya got out and took advantage of the great fall fishing around our area too many people not fishing, well that's a good thing if ya ask me...but the fishin has been pretty decent for sure, I see you made out ok..I been lucky have been out what will be 6 of the last 12 days after the morning. Gotta love fall, I been catching a good mixed bag and fishing a few spots over the last week and a half..have gotten into perch&panfish, pike, bass, trout, I aint one of the ones who waits to hear about it on the internet, I just got and see for myslef...tommorrow is another trout mission
  5. great looking fall colour fish
  6. nice fish...that really sucks about the break in though, unfortunately it is an annual story at times, best to to leave nothing visible in your vehicle..the 's know they have lots of time down there
  7. if ya see me around the river don't be shy, pop over and say hi, I always fish with a pretty good bunch of guys, weather permitting, probbaly have my boat down there almost twice a week all winter into spring
  8. hopefully that works out for you, I would love to live on the waterfront as well, but for now I guess I will just have to suffer with the view from my camp site I know I wish I could live somewhere like that year round. All the best, maybe one day you can have the fun of multitasking in your back yard...sneak out and put a rod in when you tell the wife you are cutting the lawn...or BBqing dinner up
  9. well I admit, that one is about 2 weeks too early for the river.......hence the no entry for a GL tout for the team We was huntin for steelies, that gal just decided she needed to slime up my boat we need some freekin cold weather, water still a bit too warm for it to turn on
  10. Hit the Lower Niagara today with a couple fellow winter diehards out in my boat for a crack at some steel. Fishing was slow to say the least, no good reports from anyone out there, we did a bunch of travelling around to try to find some fish and some good drifts. The current was a bit goofy today and some spots had barely a drift in the boat, viz not the greatest either but water still green. We tried everything...yarnflies,roe, and streamers and only came up with 2 for our efforts. I was getting a bit worried as I have this ongoing joke that my boat has never seen a skunk day since it rolled off the lot in summer of 2003, but somehow we manage to avoid the black and white stinky every time. I don't even care if it's me who puts one in the bott as long as at least one comes in it. Finally my buddy Niagara put a little steelie in the boat saving the day, quickly after I commented and commended him for keeping the streak going..pheww!!! We fished it hard, didn't see any other boats in the spots we tried hook up on anything, I still think it's just too nice out...water has finally dipped into the high 40's but it's still a bit to warm for any big numbers. After spending the morning out there and getting ready to go home, I managed one OOSer greaser for the day, too bad it's not December yet or else I could have added a few nice inches for the Slammers on that one...but hey, I am getting the boat out there and trying guys, I will get one any day now!!!! Quick CPR and off she went back into the drink
  11. usually just all over the boat generally a tackle bag...holds way more stuff..I just downsize all my tackle according to species sought after for the day, lots of different tackle trays that can go into the bag and I just take one tray out and replace with another depending on what I need that day.....needless to say I got lots of lkittle bits and parts of tackle all over in different trays in the basement and in the boat
  12. when I lived up there, we used to get some summer run fish up at the mouth of the Montreal river..and fish the StMary's right from like Sept right through to spring you have a good 4-5 months of wicked fishin for steelies
  13. hey good to see ya hittin em up again today, nice looking colours on that one, you sound like me, even if I am out in my boat I don't really care if I am the one catching them, or anyone else in the boat is hammering them, it's all fun to me, I don't mind being the net man once in a while as long as it keeps the 5 1/2 year never seen a skunk ever streak going in my boat, I may get skunked but as long as the carpet sees some slime it's all good...have to sell it if the unthinkable happens besides even when you are fishing from the banks, the guy beside you is getting them and not you...if ya offer to net it, or just go check it out after landed, you get a good chance to see what they are using river is starting to put out
  14. ya those Whiskey-Jacks are always on the lookout for an easy meal
  15. that turned out pretty nice for sure, will look great on the wall. When I lived up in the Soo and would tag along on a couple moose hunts, some of the guys there would take the head/skull of the moose and hang it up on a tree to let the ravens and such pick the crap out if it and clean it all up to expose thebones, I seen a couple really nice full skull/rack mounts that where dome this way
  16. great report man, Paul is a great guy for anyone to get out with on the river, It was a non-charter"fun-fishin" day with him last winter that I got my biggest of the year. I spent many days on the river in my boat last year, and every time I saw Paul out on the water he had a boat load of happy clients aboard. I don't think I ever seen that guy without a smile on his face. Nice to see you got out with your Dad and shared some great times together, that's what it's all about right there See ya on the water soon
  17. good going on the fish, it's loading up in there for sure...was there in my boat on Friday morning for a go, we got 1 bow and one male brown that was about 15lbs ole beater looking one that got all excited all over my buddy's shirt.....ummm...got milt ? Looks like Saturday was a slow day, Friday I counted 36 people fishing in that spot alone ..let alone the other 20 or so people spread out on both sides..was nice to be floating in the boat away from the crowds...4 boats out including mine, and we knew all the people in 2 of the other boats so it was cool....slow day in the boats though the current was totally goofed up and or non-exsistant. looks like you hit a lucky spot and lucked out a bit on the crowds, I hate fishing there from shore
  18. man some of you guys are killing me here, the big one eluded me this season so far...who knows maybe at the Dec Niagara G2G, closest I came all year besides a couple small OOSers was losing about a 4 footer 25lbish off my dock that burried in a weedbed and threw hook on me nice fish, I always think it is pretty cool to see all the variations of pattern markings on muskies from different bodies of water
  19. that sucks man, happens to a few people this time of year in my area too at a couple spots people park and have to go like 20-30 minutes from thier vehicle to fish...best bet is practically just leave nothing in sight in your vehicle...locking it ain't much of a factor either, if someone knows how to do it, they are going to get in your car no matter what if they want to bad enough. one time my Aunt had her car stolen, while she was waiting to find out if it had been recovered she had a rental car covered from insurance, while she had the rental someone broke into that and stole the stereo out of it
  20. wow man the new rods of today are sure coming out with some great features..not only do they catch you some great fish, but you bring em in already filletted up....now that's quality craftsmanship right there
  21. icefishing in April , most places huts have to be off by like March15, and after that lots of places "inland" so to speak are closed until mid May
  22. it's been too nice out, have to wait until it's cold..we fished steelies all last winter from now until pretty much May..water temps is still 51
  23. that's for sure, I love it..been fishing down there since I was like 12 pretty much, and still ove it every single trip, have fished the banks and in a boat over the years pretty much from right near the falls to the bar, was a nice day to be out in the boat today for sure
  24. it sure was a beautful spring day out there today that's for sure, I spent the afternoon on the Niagara
