I would keep the 2500 series reel and look for 3000 series spare spools. There should be some on e-bay. That's what I did, now I can switch to the 2500 series spool for smaller stuff and the 3000 series spool for pier fishing. Hope this helps
My son and I went out a day later for Bass opener
Not bad considering a cold front coming in
First up was this guy
Second was much larger bass, very proud how he handled it.
Tried to weigh it but the darn scale batteries were dead

Make sure you call ahead to reserve a boat for you. It will be busy
I do not think there will be many weeds yet but in later it will be brutal.
Head to the eastern end where there is a spot where it is the deepest @15-20 ft or so. Crankbaits, spinnerbaira and spoons work the best

IMO take it back and shop eBay for the curado e5 or e7.
Lots of the green models out there. I have the JDM model of the green Curados which is the scorpion xt1000 great reel
Look for feedback on a couple of sites
Tackle Tour will be your best bet the recently did a review on the MGX reel (MDX)
I was going to try one but after some thought I dedided not to.
Also tacklewarehouse in the US has reviews form customers on the reel.
Hope thie helps
I believe this is the one

IMO really should be compared to the Stradic CI4
I have the Supreme XT and the reel wobbles quite a bit using crankbaits but on a wacky worm system it is great.
I have it on my Avid rods and the wooble drives me crazy. My CI4 and my daiwa Tierras do not wobble
Anyone want to buy it LOL

I started by using heavy braid line 50lbs plus until I got the hang of it. I am down to 15 to 20lb braid throwing senkos.
Mono is almost impossible to pull out.
Never let your guard down when throwing a bait caster.
I always pay attention to the lure and stop my spool soon as it hits the water

All my Shimano casting reels are set as 3 on and 3 off on a Y pattern.
You should notice a huge diff. If I go to 2 on and 4 off I get a lot of backlashes.

What is the model of baitcaster you are using? My Shimano conquest 50 can handle 1/8 no problem also my Scopion Xt1000. Some baitcasters simply cannot handle lighter weights. Also look at the rating in the rod make sure it can handle down to 1/8 oz, ML action with a x-tra fast taper
I tried the 2500 series reel with 20lb sufix 832, I was really impressed with it. That is a good price, I like the Foam handle on the reel, I think it is better than the T shape handle.
Brampton stores have no Sufix braid, at least the ones I have been to. Figures the only time I go to CTC stores for fishing stuff and they have nothing I want
