  3. Sorry to hear this bad news Brian. Condolences , Ryan
  4. Far from true.............Talk to my ex wife !!!!
  5. Guess the same can be said for any bait presentation . Your right, though I guess that could be said about any fish hooked on any lure or bait presentation in flowing water.
  6. Great pics , too bad about the sky busters. Hope the little guy has a speedy recovery .
  7. What's difference ? They both represent single eggs. Lol, this is a whole other thread .
  8. In most "cases" are C&R areas usually only single barbless, and no organic bait? Only makes sense to lower mortality rates . Just curious . R
  9. Hit a bunch of 2-3 lbs bows drifting XL beads for a few hours today , couldn't find the big guys. All fair hooked. And no doubt they we're smashing the beads . Now using beads with a fly rod...........LOL
  10. Come and grab it. First come first severd.
  11. FREE........ (though the dog that points and retrieves them them may require a treat) Every year I have loads of pheasant , grouse and woodcock feathers along with rabbit fur that just gets tossed when field dressing the animals . Theres lots to go around. If someone can use the feathers or fur let me know and its yours. Hate wasting any part of an animal. Cheers. Ryan
  12. Love the pics !
  13. Fall means two things for me upland hunting and steelhead fishing . My self and short haired pointer pursue pheasants , grouse, rabbits , and ducks ( headed out in a minute actually) Your welcome to come a long on a hunt. It's tough getting started . PM me and we'll work something out. Cheers, Ryan
  14. Nice silver chinny !!!!
  15. Thanks all. The kids itching to do it all over again
  16. Had a couple hours to kill this afternoon so I figured I'd take my son down to "his fishin hole" as he calls it. While he ate lunch I tied a few roe bags and answered every question a 3.5 year old could throw at me about fish eggs and bait.... the questions never end LOL. We loaded up the truck after lunch and within minutes we were at the "fishin hole" ! I rigged up his 7' ultralight with a bunch of split shot and a roe bag and explained how we were going to cast out into the pool then set it on a stick and wait for the rod to start bouncing meaning we had a fish. Using this method allows dad to make a few drifts with his gear Within minutes the boy has a nice 1.5 lb bow on the end of his line (perfect size for him) after a brief fight its beached and he's ready for more . This very same scenario plays its self out a few more times in the next hour with me helping him land a few more of the little guys. In between his fish i manage to make some drifts with my pin, and don't even get a tap!! the kids schooling me . Like clock work his bottom fishing set up fires off again , he screams got one and goes to start reeling it in but something is different this time . The little Stradic 1000 starts screaming and line is peeling off towards the head of the pool. The kids got a tank on !!!! With the help of dads arms wrapped around him he starts trying to reel with both of us managing the rod and reel. Moments later after a carefully managed fight we land our monster. The pics don't do this fish justice, it was a tank. In the 20 plus years I've fished this system this fish is one of the big girls for our area. She gave us one hell of a fight on Ultralight gear, an even better fish story, and a memory that will last a lifetime!! Its funny, I spend so much time worrying about shot patterns, leader diameter, floats vs flow , and all of the other fine tuning that every steelheader thinks about yet at the end of the day a few chunks of lead with a hook and roe bag produced one of the biggest fish we've landed in awhile . Must of been the stick we fished the rod from.
  17. Awesome , events such as this are great memories !!
  18. Fish it !! My best Brookie lake is a pot hole lake with tons of springs ! You could almost call it a pond . Still remember the surprise when my slip float dropped under the surface and a feisty Brookie was landed shortly after. Here's the kicker ... I had bypassed this lake and portaged further in to other lakes for years thinking it was to small to waste time on. Lesson learned .
  19. Yep it's looking to be a less then banner year for grouse in the WMU's I frequent . June was brutal on them. Still you never know , foilage is so thick most birds would be invisible untill flushed . I'll have a better feel for what's going on around us once I can run my GSP in the woods again, still the risk of him disturbing chicks and every other animals new offspring . R
  20. That's a giant Simcoe laker , Nice one !!
  21. Great morning , and definitely will throw the canoe in the truck next time , as well as some top water baits .
  22. Nice !!! When's it getting slimed !!! I'm headed up to do some bear baiting next week near a small stocked rainbow lake on crown land . Extra hands are good ;-) and you get a new lake . Let me know Cheers Ry
  23. No easy task , well done !!!!!!!
