  1. Your the guy that SHOULD have to foot the bill when you get rescued! Please enlighten us on ice water rescue and safety ?? What's safe and why ? Different ice types ? What's involved, Resources etc ..... 50 chipped holes and you've earned the right to be called the little lake ice legend LOL.
  2. From 1.5" to 14" , there is no such thing as "safe ice" . That's how we play it, both recreationally and professionally .
  3. Yep, happened to me with ice fishing, 3 years of running Simcoe almost daily during the whole Meegs/badboy/or humpback creeper "who invented it" saga equaled ice fishing burn out LOL. Though my ice fishing spirts were rekindeled chasing ,Specks and Splake last season.
  4. To bad we didn't get to shoot! He worked his butt off while out there, ran fast and hard in all the covers. He's outta commission for awhile as at some point he sustained a good cut on his rear pad. Thx, We'll do it again. R
  5. bah!!!! at least you left me a few to swing some flies at!! Dog is in prime shape and ready for birds anytime, he's had a good season.
  6. Hahahah, some days I can relate with my bird dog !
  7. Nice shooting, I actually contemplated snagging that 28 from EPPS, Glad it found a good home. Not many of those around. R
  8. Sorry to hear this bad news Brian. Condolences , Ryan
  9. Far from true.............Talk to my ex wife !!!!
  10. Guess the same can be said for any bait presentation . Your right, though I guess that could be said about any fish hooked on any lure or bait presentation in flowing water.
  11. Great pics , too bad about the sky busters. Hope the little guy has a speedy recovery .
  12. What's difference ? They both represent single eggs. Lol, this is a whole other thread .
  13. In most "cases" are C&R areas usually only single barbless, and no organic bait? Only makes sense to lower mortality rates . Just curious . R
  14. Hit a bunch of 2-3 lbs bows drifting XL beads for a few hours today , couldn't find the big guys. All fair hooked. And no doubt they we're smashing the beads . Now using beads with a fly rod...........LOL
  15. Come and grab it. First come first severd.
  16. FREE........ (though the dog that points and retrieves them them may require a treat) Every year I have loads of pheasant , grouse and woodcock feathers along with rabbit fur that just gets tossed when field dressing the animals . Theres lots to go around. If someone can use the feathers or fur let me know and its yours. Hate wasting any part of an animal. Cheers. Ryan
  17. Love the pics !
  18. Fall means two things for me upland hunting and steelhead fishing . My self and short haired pointer pursue pheasants , grouse, rabbits , and ducks ( headed out in a minute actually) Your welcome to come a long on a hunt. It's tough getting started . PM me and we'll work something out. Cheers, Ryan
  19. Nice silver chinny !!!!
  20. Thanks all. The kids itching to do it all over again
  21. Had a couple hours to kill this afternoon so I figured I'd take my son down to "his fishin hole" as he calls it. While he ate lunch I tied a few roe bags and answered every question a 3.5 year old could throw at me about fish eggs and bait.... the questions never end LOL. We loaded up the truck after lunch and within minutes we were at the "fishin hole" ! I rigged up his 7' ultralight with a bunch of split shot and a roe bag and explained how we were going to cast out into the pool then set it on a stick and wait for the rod to start bouncing meaning we had a fish. Using this method allows dad to make a few drifts with his gear Within minutes the boy has a nice 1.5 lb bow on the end of his line (perfect size for him) after a brief fight its beached and he's ready for more . This very same scenario plays its self out a few more times in the next hour with me helping him land a few more of the little guys. In between his fish i manage to make some drifts with my pin, and don't even get a tap!! the kids schooling me . Like clock work his bottom fishing set up fires off again , he screams got one and goes to start reeling it in but something is different this time . The little Stradic 1000 starts screaming and line is peeling off towards the head of the pool. The kids got a tank on !!!! With the help of dads arms wrapped around him he starts trying to reel with both of us managing the rod and reel. Moments later after a carefully managed fight we land our monster. The pics don't do this fish justice, it was a tank. In the 20 plus years I've fished this system this fish is one of the big girls for our area. She gave us one hell of a fight on Ultralight gear, an even better fish story, and a memory that will last a lifetime!! Its funny, I spend so much time worrying about shot patterns, leader diameter, floats vs flow , and all of the other fine tuning that every steelheader thinks about yet at the end of the day a few chunks of lead with a hook and roe bag produced one of the biggest fish we've landed in awhile . Must of been the stick we fished the rod from.
  22. Awesome , events such as this are great memories !!
