  1. Sorry to hear about your mother in law. That is sad. I am speechless with regards to your muskie. I got nothing. wow
  2. Nice! This is a very cool reply in this thread.
  3. I had a big rant about this but luckily, probably for me, it got erased. Here are my basic points You get a university degree you get paid more. That is the bottom line. Of course there are exceptions to the rule but they are just that, exceptions. Here are some easy to follow chart (I bet even some university grads could understand them) Compare a high school diploma salary with a basic bachelor's degree salary http://www.earnmydegree.com/online-education/learning-center/education-value.html Even SMART people don't always hire experience over education. Bill Gates Microsoft is known to do the opposite. Rarely hires experience and almost always hires fresh uni grads. RIM does the same and both companies hire more students from the University of Waterloo than any other uni in the world. http://uwaterloo.ca/aboutuw/ I am not sure what you mean when you say "some university grads couldn't even fill out a resume." Did you mean they couldn't fill out an application form? Did you mean they didn't create a resume or hand in a resume? I have never filled out a resume at a job so I too might fail that test. Knowledge of resume creation is generally not taught at university. The potential employee's failure to submit a resume, or their innability to create a resume, probably stems from being absent too many days while in high school, where that skill is taught. Resume writing is taught in the careers studies, a grade 10 compulsory course (all students are required to pass in order to graduate high school). This is a half credit course and the course code is GLC 2O. Perhaps these uni grads went to school before this course was compulsory. I do agree that there are many brilliant people out there without a formal post secondary eduction, but those people are certainly few and far between these days. As unfortunate as it might seem for some, post secondary education, whether at a college level, a university level, or via the trades route is almost essential for those higher paying jobs (note I said almost, there are some great factory jobs and entrepreneurship possibilities out there). Good luck with the job search. Keep your chin up something will happen for you as you are still young.
  4. try this for smallies instead. Very fun and much more action for sure. smalljaws feed well at night.
  5. up 400 extention about not too much further than couch. I would say an extra half hour (different hwy). There is a decent national park there as well for camping. large and smallmouth, pike and some walleye if you can find them.
  6. Dude, you have been catching sick Musky so I wouldn't put my musky stuff away until they shut down. A 5 lb bass is nice but a 45+" ski is insane.
  7. nice fish! I need to catch something like that. Be careful of that fog rolling in. Looks pretty thick.
  8. Couch is great for fishing, it just get real real choppy really fast. Big boats as well going through the trent. What about six mile lake. Lots of small bays and protected areas. Just get a map first.
  9. Wow! Nice fish. Congrats to her for sure. "That mess" behind her looks beautiful to me! I love fishing that kind of water.
  10. By the way Kevin, nice fish. 24/7 catches great fish all year. He takes awesome pics and he is legit obout their sizes. If you look at his arms or my arms or anyone else who "holds their fish out" to the camera, you will always see a bend in the arm. No one is making a 12 incher look like a 4 pounder. I also think that we see a big mouth on a largie and we overestimate its weight. It doesn't really matter how big it was, those are still quality fish! whatever.
  11. I have caught at least 2 at night. Muct have been an accident. Dragging a black senko in little lake at midnight is the only one i can remember well. I have heard that they can bite at night but it is fairly rare.
  12. If you hold them back beside you it looks stupid. I usually weigh my big fish and I know exactly how big they are. If you want to know I will tell you.
  13. I saw one last night sitting in the same tree as a bunch of comorants. It looked like a big egret.
  14. wow. Big much? That thing is huge. Looks like it might have been sitting in the sun for a while. lol
  15. Yep. I do complain about taxes, not the police.
  16. Lol. Guess you need to read it all. A year in the life is but a blink of his eye.
  17. No hate toward cops here. I have 3 friends on the city force and my next door neighbour is on the South Simcoe squad. I do pay over $4500 in taxes though. Barrie taxes are bad. Too much snow removal in the winter.
  18. Good job steve. Nice job on the Glouster. Busy times for you. Glad to see the guiding is working out.
  19. I think they are about $40 at CTC
  20. It is just my opinion but I can't stand the overweight spongy feel of these rods or an ugly stik for that matter. They are strong but that is it. I like my rods to have a backbone and not flex down by the handle. Again, this is my opinion which can be taken how you want. Let me put it this way. If I was given one, I would regift it.
  21. Thanks for the warning. I would buy one of those rods if they cost $10. No that is a lie. I would not ever buy one of those rods.
  22. nice fish. Those are some big teeth for sure. ouch
  23. Lol! The picture of the boat was on front page of the Advance yesterday. They had righted the boat by then so it looked like it just slipped off the trailer but I had a closer look at it and you can see the console is messed up. Must have rolled. I will try and get the pic scanned.
  24. Me too Bill. Only problem is I don't know it really well. There are so many shoals and big bombs just below the surface that you really have to be careful. In this pic we are about a mile from any shore but there were huge unmarked boulders literally 1-2ft under the surface. Very cool but very scary if you don't know where they are and I don't have a gps
