Oh my, the vicious things lol.... Burt

They are native to Asia and Africa, and are banned in USA and most of Canada. They are voracious feeders and have a primitive "lung" which they can recirculate water to facilitate breathing on land. The one above is a Northern Snakehead, Channa argus, which can live in cooler waters. It is unfortunate that the smaller and only tropical species are restricted as well, since they make a very nice single specimen in a large aquarium. Burt

Since you say there are a lot of chub in the area, that would rule out the use of worms or insects as they will get it before he does. I would use a larger chub or a preferably a larger crayfish as suggested before. Since he is near wood do not go so finesse, use straight 6 or 8lb to the hook, so if you hook him you can land him. Good luck!! (and pics if you get him!!) Burt

Dear Mum, Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and got worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened. Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue Jeeps. It was great. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning. Scoutmaster Ted got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him. Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up? The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes. Matthew is going to look weird until his hair grows back. We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Ted gets the bus fixed. It wasn't his fault about the crash. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Ted said that with a bus that old, you have to expect something to break down; that's probably why he can't get insurance. We think it's a super bus. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot, sometimes he lets us ride on the bumpers. It gets pretty hot with 45 people in a bus made for 24. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the policeman stopped and talked to us. Scoutmaster Ted is a neat guy. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Horace how to drive on the mountain roads where there aren't any cops. All we ever see up there are huge logging trucks. This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out to the rapids. Scoutmaster Ted wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Adam was afraid he would sink because of his cast (it's concrete because we didn't have any plaster), so he let us take the canoe out. It was great. You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood. Scoutmaster Ted isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets. He has to spend a lot of time working on the bus so we are trying not to cause him any trouble. Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Andrew dived into the lake and cut his arm, we all got to see how a tourniquet works. Steve and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it was probably just food poisoning from the left-over chicken. He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster. He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file? Love Jimmy.

Never done any wild meat on the smoker but..... What do they look like? Are they super lean, or do they have fat mixed in the meat? I would probably do them as beef ribs. One of the most important steps to good ribs is removing the membrane on the inside of the ribs. This is the tough membrane that separates the abdominal cavity from the ribs. Work a knife under it and pull it off while gripping with a paper towel. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/beefrib1.html If you don't have a smoker you could use a gas grill, just cook indirect for a long time, foiling quickens the cooking process as well... I don't know if I would be overly surprised, seems that most small parts are made in China now a days. At least they still assemble in Canada! Note, the Napoleon's available through Canadian Tire (Ted Reader models) are assembled in China too... Burt

Lots of Broil King's in your price range (also Broil Mate and Sterling, also made by OMC in Waterloo), or Napoleon Prestige (made in Barrie). Nice to buy a Canadian made product in these times as well. I would shy away from the Centro's, Blue Ember (Fiesta), etc. as they are all made in China..... Burt

Yup, cheesy potatoes rock!!! If you like baked, I like to coat the potatoes with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning (unlikely you have that, get it in the States) or some other creole seasoning and wrap in foil. For the steak, I am not a fan of marinating good steak, I will give a good salt with coarse sea salt and coat with freshly ground pepper. Press it in. I love pepper! More importantly, grill them over charcoal for the best flavour. Inch and a half thick ribeyes are better than sex done this way. I grill them indirect till about rare and then perform a reverse sear to carmelize the outer layer.... heaven Burt

I have two pairs of Aviators, one made under Bausch & Lomb, one under Luxottica. Both have been good. The B&L pair is at least 15 years old. Nothing has broken. Burt

Piranha are not the most exciting fish to keep (assuming you are looking at RBP). They are fairly skittish and not very interactive. If you bore easily, you may want to look into Central American cichlids, such as red devil / midas, vieja, or an oscar. They are very interactive. Also flowerhorns if you like them. All these need a 75gal to house a single fish. Unless you have a large tank (180gal+) do not get peacock bass as they grow very large. What size tank do you have? Burt

So did the fishermen get charged with fishing in a closed season??? Last I heard trout season doesn't open for a couple or three more weeks... Burt

Not with the depreciation protection it is not. For 18 months if the car is written off you get a new one. It was explained it was due to the class the car is put in, the smaller cars are more likely to be involved in accidents etc. due to the prominent group that drives them. Burt

Actually I also had them price out a Buick Lucerne which is in the mid-$30K range (these are all around $21K tax in) in price and the rate was lower than all of them.... Burt

Checked out the insurance premiums today. For the same insurance that I have now (business, over 30K annually, higher $500/1000 deductibles instead of $300/500), all are more expensive than my LeSabre (of course... ) Civic DX AC and Focus SE are both $159/month (including 18 month depreciation protection $3)as they are rated in the same liability class etc. The Vibe is listed as a wagon and is lower at $153/month. I think this is in the past. I drive my Buick and park right up front in visitor parking at HCM and nobody cares. Just would feel uncomfortable working there while driving a direct competing vehicle. Interesting, I have not checked with my insurance provider yet, will have to do this tomorrow. I care where they are made, thats why I put that requirement in my original post.... Burt
