Cliff one question.
Do you have Workers comp coverage for the worker?
I only ask cause you could get yourself in a heep of crap if something were to happen to the worker.
A buddy did the same. Hired a student for cash. Kid was playing with a tape measure and sliced his hand open. If it were not for his father pushing for comp,it wouldnt of been an issue, but yet,the claim was put through and my buddy didnt have the coverage. He paid big time.
Just an FYI.
Oh my,,,,,,,,REALLY,,,,,Thats it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hope they have my favorite yum tube. Thats about the only good deal I see. Oh well. It will be a place to hang on non fishing days.
Yes that time is here once again. BASS,N TIME
Opener was a hot one and we did not expect to find as much weed growth as we did our first outing. Managed to nail a few and sometimes I need to remember to set the hook.
The heat from the sun was enough for us by 11 am.
A feathered fishing bird joining us along the banks.
Day two
On the water by 5am. Apparently they were calling for high winds, but for some reason,it was a beauty of a morning to be out on the tube. The weather man is a dick.LOL
My plan was to try fly fishing for some bass and pike. These flys sure are heavy once they get the water in them. I brought the wrong rod for the job. But still gave it a go with no luck.
So I packed the fly rod away, and started to top water and throw a worm for the morning.
It worked well.
Mixed bag.
Pics from the morning.
There was a threat of a storm moving in so was off the water by 11.
DAY THREE
Another stellar morning to be out.
DAY FOUR
With the bad weather they been calling for all weekend for Canada Day,, ,we werent sure if we would get out. There was a window of opportunity . No storm til noon. So on the water at first light again. I had a feeling the fish would be on as this storm was coming and fish always seem to be very active before a good storm.
I was right. First cast and BOOYA BABY. Boiling spinner baits was the ticket all morning, with the odd one on a worm.
Boiling a spinner bait, is one of my favorite ways to fish buckets. It was awesome to watch them hit only 5-6 ft from the tube.
Lost count how many snot rockets we got. They will hIt anything.
With the one sound we didnt want to hear,it happened. THUNDER.
Head back to shore just in the neck of time. The skies opened up.
The look during the drive home.
And the end is near.
So no real big fish, but a whole bunch of fun.
Speaking of big.
I have no pics as I was more worried about getting away from them. This lake has HUGE snapping turtles.
There was no offence being made your way.
I can tell you about a day I spent on the lake and only took two rods. Both with spinnerbaits. One of my best days. Fished from 8 -15 fow. Zigzaged.in and out.Sometimes we make it so complicated. The past two days I had a top water, worm and spinner bait on three rods. That was it. No box to retry different baits. All worked for me.
As for spinner baits,I was a Stanley man,but have since gone with BOOYA. Thats why I always say,BOOYA,when they hit.
Just notice this thread Michael. There seems to be a lot of unsettled weather this year. It can happen anywhere it seems.
Hope your all set up again with little loss. (I see when posting, you had already posted)
Again for those that can get out to his sale, you will get great deals and a happy welcome.
Stay safe.
If your going to burn,1/2 is best. I did throw 3/8,s but it was a bit of a work out to get it to get up just below the surface. Fishing from the tube,I have noticed that it,s a whole lot different then in a boat.
Keep at it,you,ll get them.
What blades are you using? Colors? Body color?Trailer? Here it,s an easy match for me. Willow blades, brass and nickle. White or yellow body.Weight is another factor.
OH MY.
One of my favorite ways to nail smallies and largies is with a spinner bait, along with dragging tubes and drop shot. Jerk baits work well.
I nailed some largies this morning burning (or as I call it.bubbling spinner baits) Just below the surface. Two of them hit five ft from the tube. What a blast.
Many years ago in Rice lake a friend of my dad had 3 toes clipped off by a marauding snapper, buddy had his feet dangling in water off the dock, owwww.
