  1. LOL. Oh you will get yer ears full there buddy. Mostly from those that are pissed they cant get out and you can. There are a few Americans that do it on the east side of Simcoe in the late season of ice. Heard guys gypping about the noise. I think it,s cuz they are smarter then the average Canadian bear. Sit back, put yer feet up and chill. You will find a way to enjoy the rest of yer life. My pop keeps busy with the Sunridge gun club. He is one of the marshal's now. He keeps the place neat and tidy as well collects all the brass casings, polish them and reloads or sells. Busy guy . Still gets the dig,s in saying, today is Saturday, why am I working and not fishing. That Is on a Monday to Friday. LOL
  2. And I will add my rant as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Need to head down to BPS to get the fly materials I need . Up here at Cabeals is unreal. Sad really . I asked the guy why you have everything here and not the Barrie store.? Why do have packaging with Cabelas on it ? All I got was, I do not know why they do not have the same stock, and as far as the name thing,BPS will be changing to Cabelas . Yes owned by BPS,but the name Cabelas will be out front soon . My 30/30 electric is old and crapping out and finding them anywhere is almost non. They had 2. I grabbed one as they said stock will not be coming in for months. 1 or 2 at a time at best . I wanted the dura max with the battery control, but beggars can not be choosers right now. Time on the water is precious.
  3. Thanks Bill. Now I need a puck. Anyone have or know someone with one used ?
  4. Hell, you just crane those fish in .LOL
  5. Still running the 598 HD that you helped set up .Still working great, just a bigger screen wold be nice, plus I would like to make it my ice set up full time instead of switching it over every season.
  6. That lake will NEVER return to it,s glory days like in the late 70,s early 80,s. Huge bass back then.
  7. A big screen finally and wish I could. Good luck with the sale Bill. The puck is not required is it for the chip card ?
  8. What ever it takes to get that bite Paul . There are so many soft plastics out there, but I get pure satisfaction when I can tie something that works. Got a few more to try. I want to make some fly swim baits, but it takes time . The one I am working on has some bouncy, so you can have like a 3-6 inch leader drop .
  9. .38 sec to find https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=quick+release+boat+seat+mount&gclid=CjwKCAjwr56IBhAvEiwA1fuqGleA11J0YT5mPW_6_Z-G1k3S-peXiasI0zgj210f-PN3R3E3vl3WfBoCl94QAvD_BwE&hvadid=325035808249&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9000801&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=3571830295710635345&hvtargid=kwd-319681382378&hydadcr=1966_10286097&tag=googcana-20&ref=pd_sl_52xcavtu1h_e
  10. Nice boat . To bad about the issue . Out board would be a drop and swap.
  11. Flys for drop shotting ? Where do they come from? The bottom of course. Yes this is now August, but this fly I tied is a May fly. Simcoe May fly. I was out for whities and lakers this morning, but non to play with, so I headed in after a few hours and decided to rig up a drop shot rig. 7grm vibrado and a fly as a drop. What a combo I must say. I just let the float boat drift, twitching the virdrado off the bottom. Perch and small smallies were smashing and grabbing the baits. Looks like I have another winner fly that can be tied in various colors. This one was olive marabou and grizzly hackle as wings. Beauty start to the morning . It looks like a real bug to me,,,,,,,,,
  12. Just did up the full batch of burgs . I went out and got wood chunks of hickory and apple . WOW,what a nice addition of flavor to the burgs. Just put in 4 chunks, 2 apple 2 hickory. Lots of heat left, so 6 taters on now for tater salad to go with the pull pork Sunday.
  13. I could not wait to play. After an hour of seasoning, there was plenty of heat to cook. I had to try the new toys. So, put 3 burgers on to see what,s what. The temp prop worked great. I even double checked with a manual one. Very close. The great thing is,there was very min of coals and the burgs cooked nice and slow and no flare ups. Time to chow down. Mama burgers and a nice papa burger. Ya that was a banger Albert . Have not heard if anyone was hurt. News in 5 min.
  14. Buddy, give these guys a call https://www.goldsealdcelectric.ca/
  15. I have gotten tired of running out and for propane . Been looking at those dome charcoal BBQ,s . Weber's,Napoleons . Just crazy prices IMO . Was at wally world and this one caught my eye and was marked down to $85 from $120. SAVINGS. It has all the same features as the high $ ones . I really like the basket on the bottom. Just dump the coal grill and just dump in a bag the next day or so . Easy clean up. While I was there, I noticed the temp gauges 4 probs. Marked down to $15 from $29. Another big saving. Will work for both the BBQ and smoker .And there was my charcoal, KingSford pro. This unit for the price, I will be happy if I get 2-3 years out of it. The big draw to going this was, it will be a great addition to my smoking. Smoke in the Big Chief and finish off with the heat and smoke I will need instead of the oven . I can just smoke a big butt pork in this thing . I need to find one of those hinged grills so I can add more coal and wood when needed ,while doing indirect heat cooking or smoking . Today was fire up and just get it seasoned and any unwanted flavors. It sure heats up fast. Big batch of home made burgers Saturday. Since I got the vac pac,I can do this. LOL Let the new cooking adventures begin. Oh, this years shepherds are going to have some great flavor this fall . Think I,ll do a bunch of elephant garlic this fall as well.
  16. Clifford baby, great to hear from you man .
  17. I know not of any areas on Simcoe that look like that. LOL Well done by the family Rob.
  18. All cooled and seal packed. Love when it looks professional an all .
  19. I did 2 smokes this weekend . First was another one of those flank steaks. The new smoker gets hotter then the little chief . I could hold a temp of 170 deg covered with the box . I could of went 1 hour less then I did . There was pink, but I like the red juicy . Non the less, it was still tasty as heck. So with lesson learned, I did not cover the box today, and kept a full controlled 145 deg for my buddies smoked salmon he dropped off . This thing was huge. Used 2 grates as I had to cut it in half . 3 pans of apple and 6 hours later using the 2 middle racks, all good. Next weekend, pulled pork and try that smoked bread crumbs and smoked Paprika that Smitty raves about.
  20. There is a guy here, but yer a bit of a drive away . I see boats in his yard every week I pass by. Little guy and a small shop. Info for you,,, Alumifab Custom Aluminum Fabrication, located at 576 Essa Road in Barrie 705 331 2022
  21. Yes. Great European store. A whole mix of everything . Polish,German,Russian and more .
  22. https://starskycanada.com/find-a-store/
  23. I get some real nice ones come fall . Buy when on sale . With the new smoker,I can probly do enough for the whole winter this fall and some for the folks as well . Yup,I am all giddy. That injection sounds interesting Smitty. Let us know how it tasted .
  24. I did. Another deal to be had, so, snagged this Big Chief. Dents had no effect on the smoker, but it would seem it was the cause of the discounted price . Oh I am so devilishly sly . All I can say is wow, this thing is going to be so nice to use. No more cutting up ribs in to 3 pieces,or the same with fish. Just throw the whole slab on. 5 racks and huge burner . The only thing I need is to either drill a small hole on top to get my thermometer in it,or buy one of those fancy wireless ones. I am not a nerd nut for these, so might just do the hole thing . Unless someone can convince me different . I will put a few pans of smoke through it Tomorrow and Thursday to season it, then this weekend well, who the hell knows what I am going to do. Oldest boy will get my other smoker. He is happy,as he loves smoked fish and ribs and beef . It will be a learning curve for him, but I know once he gets the hang of it,he will have his river hound buddies asking to have their catches smoked . I love new shiny things.
  25. Thats my job. LOL Albert, put some oil or WD ,on the shaft and the rim area. Let it soak a bit. Over night if you want, that would be better . Then give the rim a few hits with a hammer all around the rim. That should loosen it .
