Yup she was definitely a back breaker that one That time I went out with Ravine Rat and did the loop around the lake I just about died, every muscle and joint was just a achin! Sold it for the same price I bought her for and the guy drove it right on to his trailer. Rob C

Hey Terry, I was looking at your post and those changing pictures at the bottom of your posts, the one with holding that big Lake Trout, that is my old sled in the background. I remember that day you caught that, you got it on the Meegs jig and it just hammered your line and put up a good fight. The guy was there from meegs and he video taped you getting that. If I remember right you were the only one to catch a fish that day. Nice picture. Rob C

I wonder if this was related to the big die off of fish that occurred in the spring this year after ice out? Rob C

Little lake or St. John You off for the holidays Brian

Why do you need to sharpen the blades or replace them so often? I've had mine for 4 years punched tons of holes and never sharpened them once. Still like new.

This video is very dramatic, but I think it should be seen by everyone that is planning on an outing over the holidays. Happy Holidays everyone! Rob C

Rodents hate fire as well. I was told by an old local to put an open bag of charcoal inside the boat and it also absorbs moisture that can build up in the boat. Rob C

Limey, all I can say is Reports Reports Reports!! Good luck next weekend you lucky bugger! Rob C

Have you noticed since the Harper government got their majority government, that the gas prices really haven't gone down that much in relation to the price of crude or wholesale gas? I think that they sleep together every night and try to figure how they can really put the screws to us the next day! Rob C

hope you don't have the cover on her yet Rick! BTW love the avatar you have, can't wait for that time of year! Rob C

Does anyone add plumbing antifreeze to the 4 stroke engines or does the water completely drain when the engine is down. I was thinking of adding antifreeze to the water intake on my 4 Stroke Honda with the hose attachment, but if the water drains out completely, should I bother? Rob C

Well I'm trying not to think of winter, still have the boat ready to go when required to! But I was a little bored and thought about this lately, so pitter patter gotta get at her! I like the idea of the extra battery, I have a new sealed battery that I could hook up and a spot to put it. Irishfield, you da man! I like that idea very much! Will let you how that goes, now I will have to get the sleds out to do this, new job for the weekend! Rob C

Well after a few years of trying different set ups and such, I have decided to try utilizing the battery on my sled to power my fishfinder. I figure I can reduce the weight and save some space while protecting my unit from the environment. I made one for a buddy of mine last year and he is very happy with it. So this year I thought I would try a couple of other mods to get the size of the cooler even smaller. I used the one fishfinder that I don't use to often to see how it works out, if it does then I will use it on my newer one. Here is the unit all done. Here is the unit inside the cooler. I am not sure what the best wire to use for the power supply from the sled to the unit, but will check out Sayal electronics for some good flexable wire. If you guys have any other suggestions feel free to input.

Went away for a weekend away with the lads, despite all the rain, wind, waves and so on we managed to get out everyday and do some fishing. They say that musky is the fish of a thousand casts, does that mean from your first day you ever fished, cause I would have surpassed that by a million! If it is from the time you started that day, then I am one lucky bugger! First cast, lifted the jig off of the bottom for the third time and bammm, fish on! He did a little dance on the water and gave me a good fight but it didn't take much time to get him into the boat, 5 minutes tops. Took a couple of pics and then a quick resuscitation in the water, and off he went. Weighted in at 13lbs, 3 oz on the Berkeley digital scale. We managed 5 walleye, and 2 smallmouths for the weekend. Had a great weekend playin cards smokin cigars and shootin the breeze at each other expense! Always seems we can have a great time no matter what mother nature throws at us! Rob C

Oh I forgot to mention the motor is a 2006 and the boat is 2005 with a shorelander trailer. Gonna put a swing away tongue on it to get her to fit in the garage. Rob C

Well all went well on the test run got the boat up to 35mph at 5500 rpm's, checked the gear oil all is good. Couldn't check the compression as the sockets I brought were not the right size , checked everything else on the motor and it looks good and clean. Idled like bees in a behive! man I can't believe how quiet those Honda's are! I got the boat motor and trailer for 8k, pretty good deal considering the shape the boat is in, at least I think it is a good deal. Here is a couple of shots of the boat. Boat Pics Let me know what you guys think and I want you to be honest! Rob C

Wow, thanks guys, some great tips here. Got the compression tester and socket set, gps and just gotta hit the water tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes tomorrow night! Rob C

Thanks Bill, will let you know how I make out with it! Rob C

I am looking at getting a boat with little hours on it and it has this Honda on it. I am pretty sure it is carbeurated engine, and seems to be in good shape. I am going on Tuesday to take it for a test run, do a compression test on it, check the lower unit for water and will do a speed and rpm check with my gps. Anything else that I might want to look for in this motor would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rob c
