Nice job, out there braving the weather. Possibly be fishing this coming Sunday or Saturday with the little brother.
Good job and thanks for sharing,

The bay I fish is shallow, the perch last year were in 4-5ft of water on weeds, i honestly caught 4 12"+ perch in the same hole the bowfin came out of last season.
Haha if I had the $$ i would get the matching pants for this season I'll splurge on a proper suit one year...for now the $30 coleman pants are good enough
Call me Mike the Bowfin catcher lol. I caught one through the ice in 4ft of water last season on a minnow, not sure how to target them boy these fish are fighters frozen water or open water.
Heres a pic
Bass Pro Shops has the new Suffix line on their web site.

Enjoy
Thanks for the informative post. My curiosity is with the Suffix stuff. I used 50lb PP last season for frogs, never had 1 bass break my line. Although super strong and limp the color change was definitely there but never bugged the fish I caught either on jigs or frogs...never did the marker stuff either to make the line darker.
Looking to hear what you think of the product Garry.

Nice man -24 thats good and cold, I'm sure that area will be safe for you in no time. Can't wait to get out on the ice in a few weeks.

Why on earth would they be too expensive buddy? I'm sorry but spending 200+ on a rod is fine and if you are getting 9-12ft of quality st croix rod then its well worth it. I'm sure any serious carp guy would try and perfectly justify the price point.
Doesn't matter when you fall it and hit your head or snap a ankle or lets say if you were disabled or for whatever reason I don't think a swim course is the answer. The purpose is to stay afloat not to be swimming. Let's just ware life jackets when the motor is on and well if you can't swim keep the jacket on when your not running the motor...after all the law is to have life coats not swimming certificates.
As long as the card I got now lasts for life no worry to me...if they ever make us re do the testing process stuff then ill just take my chances and of a fine...
Give it a try if you find some safe stuff to fish on. Only started ice fishing last season, never caught a bass or a muskie through the ice only perch, pike, crappie, and a bowfin to boot lol.
Good Luck,
MTBF
Was browsing Bass Pro's web site and noticed new Carp special rods by St Croix under their Avid lineup.

I remember fishing off the causeway going to Cape Breton Island producing a half dozen or so mackeral off the bank with spoons and spinners.
Also if you can get out in evenings i remember being at a small inlet and fishing the entrance when hundreds of mackeral swam through hit a few spoons then left in a matter of minutes. Will be going there again in a year or so hopefully just with my dad and little brother.
Sorry for no specifics, nice to remember that province though, such beautiful land out that way.
Also I went during the first 2 weeks of August.
That sounds like a find combo. This summer i used the Slop N Frog rod out of the Legend Tournament lineup by st croix and it was fine for piching jigs as a 7'H. But if your looking for jig flipping/pitching specific go for the 7'6MH....cant go wrong, i ust bought a 7'6 Pitching rod out of the legend tournament lineup, sick rod.
try 50lb power pro
