Thanks for the comments guys, I love braid for my frog and jig fishing aswell as throwing senkos but its going to be hard to change from 15lb fluoro too braid...the spinnerbait looks so nice with no line behind it. I guess braid might be a better option but I would use caution...lot's of the lakes I fish have and I have caught pike on spinnerbaits...maybe that's why the abrasion resistant fluoro is handy for me O well, thanks for feedback, I would like to get a lighter spinnerbait rod and a curado rather the rapala setup but a flippin stick is first! Hope to see you guys on the water, MTBF

Just awful...surprised a thread with reference in fish poaching hasn't been closed yet....

Hey everybody, got a few quick questions to ask when it comes to spinnerbait fishing. First off I personally I want a 7'MH baitcast rod but I've been using my 7'2R-Type combo with good success all year. My question is in regards to line choice when fishing spinnerbaits. My favorites are Strike King's Premier Plus spinnerbaits as well as the Booyah HD spinnerbaits. I used 15lb Trilene Fluorocarbon last season and although I have never had my heart broken on a big spinnerbait fish I feel I can control them fine with this line but I still feel like there is too much stretch when feeling the fish initially hit the bait. Is 17lb Fluoro to heavy for this technique? What lb line and kind of line have you guys experimented with. Thanks, MTBF

That's why we include pictures. Share the baits, an tactics it took to catch the fish aswell as a short story and that's all we need. Great post and thanks for sharing, MTBF

Nice job man, how does that Nissan run? -
StCroix Mojo or Wright and Mcgill Skeet Reese ?
MCTFisher9120 replied to Lunker777's topic in General Discussion
The Skeet Reese rods are good rods aswell but they also offer a Lifetime Warranty rather than the 5yr that the Mojo series has. I would buy the Skeet Reese rods rather than the mojo's. -
Hey everybody. Today I spent the day with my Dad fishing for pike but turned into a fun day catching small bass after another. We caught 9 bass by the end of the few hours we spent fishing all were 1lb or under...maybe a pound in a half but either way they were small. Never saw a pike follow a spinnerbait so it might be a week or two early for them or they are just further out off the shores. Here are 2 pictures, just random fish no significance. Anyway had a ball fishing all day today in the perfect weather. Thanks for reading, MTBF

Playoffs and Cup champions this season. Mark my words

I agree, that price isn't too bad at all. I don't know, there is just something about a used motor that i'm not interested in. Getting a new outboard means it should run true from the moment I use it. I'll have it for years and I can trust something that I have taken care of.

Might give Pike a try this weekend with my dad.

Anybody know what speed range I could achieve with my boat and a 9.9hp? The boat is 12'long and very deep it feels.
-
Nice catches man...but uhoh you got me thinking now about pike fishin
-
I'll be in touch with a price like that. Send me a msg in a few months if you remember but that's a very good price in my eyes
-
Great report, really like the photo work! Also curious about the Pike, what lake were you fishing that had the pike in it?

You win some, you loose some. That Walleye is a great catch, glad the trip was fun! Thanks for sharing, MTBF

Nice, that big perch reminds me of the 14" I nailed during the ice season. Impressive catch for early fall, congrads! MTBF

Hello again OFC, hope everybody has been catching more fish than I have been. Haven't been out in a few weeks for any fishing...got to handle lot's last week during my Fall Field Camp on Sturgeon but it's just not the same!! Anyway, Dad and I are up for a 9.9hp motor for our 12' boat. I know it might be a small boat but hey in my eye's I'll always need and use a small boat, northern Ontario trips, back lake camping, or for the next few years while I'm still in school this boat will stay in our family for a long time. We have decided on getting a 9.9hp 4 stroke outboard. A clean, quiet, fuel efficient NEW motor. Here are a few options I have looked at. And of course prices will change when dealers offer specials and rebates. My main question is what brand...I've looked into Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki motors and all are priced in the same range. Here is my little research chart on the different weights with these motors with the prices(except Mercury, stupid site doesn't have one price on it...not very helpful but if somebody can fill in the blank for me it would be appreciated) Honda 9.9hp 4 Stroke Short Shaft Manual Start $2999MSRP 92lbs Mercury 9.9hp 4 Stroke Manual Start Short Shaft Cost______ 83lbs Yamaha 9.9hp 4 Stroke Manual Start Short Shaft $3157 91lbs Suzuki 9.9hp 4 Stroke Manual Start Short Shaft Cost_____ 95lbs Well there is what I dug up. In all honestly a Mercury or Yamaha seems to be the best option but I don't want to count out the other two. Looking to hear some stories of customer support, motor servicing at dealerships etc...Just a little insight before getting a boat motor. Thanks, Mike
