  5. Amazing report ! Well done
  6. I remember back in the day when I used to do a lot of early season steelheading, on a couple of occasions, I would see the wake of fish coming up into the pool. within seconds we would get hooked up. I forgot how fun it used to be watching the float drop.
  7. Good luck ! Catch a big hen !
  8. I like to attach a short piece ( about 1.5 inch ) of 100 pound fluorocarbon to the shank of the hook. with a treble hook fixed to the end . I attach with crimps. I find that the stinger hook is better when on the top of the bait for two reasons. One, less mortality on the fish because the hooks usually get buried on the roof of the mouth. Two because you can get the bait through weeds and wood much better.
  9. Excellent. Its cool how they were all stacked in the exact same spot on the drift
  10. nice ! looks like the boy was picking the right lure in the first pic. match the hatch
  11. Excellent !
  12. Lucky craft pointer 128 casts a country mile
  13. No problem buddy. Take me walleye fishing
  14. Was back out this past Saturday and the water temps were up to 64. Getting too hot too quick. It was a tough bite for sure. Getting similar reports from friends as well. Just have to go when you can and hope you hit it at the right time.
  15. Here are my pike pics from last week. Put in a lot of hours on the water visiting numerous water bodies in Central Ontario. Jerk baits and swimbaits got most bites. The fishing was actually pretty tough as I think the big females were in recovery mode. Got out two more times to close out the spring pike season. Got re aquanted with a couple lakes that I have not fished in years. Felt good to put something together. I assumed that the water temps would have skyrocketed but was suprised to see the temps sitting around 66 up until last weekend. The big fish were completely post spawn and biting real good. The fist lake we found plenty of fish on shallow sand flats in about 1 to 2 feet of water. The second lake set up different with fish closer to deep water on new weed growth . The smaller fish in the 10 pound range fought amazing , peeling drag on the flipping sticks and bulldogging at boat side. All the rods have been transferred over to bass lures now for the upcoming openers. Can wait for largemouth
  16. Nice ! Interesting to see how they react and "bump " the bait
  17. This is the shadzilla with an owner beast hook 6/0 weighted hook with stinger
  18. Plenty of options. the new Berkley powerbait swimbaits in the larger size work pretty good. Also the BPS swimbaits are good. Pike are not to picky when it comes to swimbaits. Its mostly a reaction strike. either they will hit it or they wont. I also like the Shadzilla. These can be rigged on a weighted Owner Beast swimbait hook if you want weedless. or a half oz. heavy duty shank swimbait jig head. Pretty easy to fish. just cast and wind
  19. I just watched that last night as well. I have been taking the sun more seriously in the last couple years. wearing the buff and sunsleeves has saved me. I may look weird but skin cancer is no joke. No more bacon ears!
  20. Nailed it right there. Go with 20 pound power pro on spinning gear. 30-50 on bait casters. I have tried them all just to keep coming back to power pro
  21. Nice. Cant wait for the thump as well !
  22. You are like Wilson from Home Improvement ! nice pike this season. Well done
  23. My recommendation would be to use about a 1/4 spool of cheap red wolf 8# mono from Canadian tire. Then add either 15 # or 20# moss green power pro via back to back uni knot. You can then add any flouro leader of your choice.
  24. Yes ! 100% I wont fish without them. I always have a couple extra pairs in the boat in case I forget mine. A must have
  25. Meh. Definitely not worth $15 . Went on Friday and was disappointed . Should be free or a non perishable donation
