  3. Nice pike! Be carefull out there in a canoe. The water is very cold. One wrong move and your done, even with a survival suit.
  4. Looks like quite the adventure. The guides should be paying you to take them out ! A real nice fat brown there.
  5. Quality chrome right there ladies and gentlemen!
  6. I can see why your reel eventually froze! Good job on the steel ! Iso kala
  7. 70 K a year! thats alot of K. I understand how you view your car as a tool. I hope that you would reconsider your options. A diesel Jetta or a Golf will outlast almost any other car on the market today. These cars will laugh at 280K. The $ you will save on fuel will offset the extra cost of the initial purchase price. 1200km to tank on 50-60 litres. Good luck with your choice

  10. Good luck to you and yours. A feel good story that gives us some hope and inspiration that there is much more out there to explore. Currently my wheels are spinning in the mud and its getting very frustrating ! Note to self........start networking
  11. Great line. I have not been able to find it for a long time now. If anybody knows where I can find it, please let me know. Black box with gold writing on it. As for backing line I just use the cheap Canadian Tire Red Wolf 10 Lb for $3
  12. Even if the typical spawning bays are still frozen over, focus on the first main drop off into deeper water adjacent to the spawning bays. They might be staging out there. Ussually suspending jerkbaits such as husky jerks or deep down husky jerks will work well. The key is to work the bait pretty slow with long pauses. Some fish in your area might already be spawning so getting them to bite may be tough. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.
  13. Ha Ha Good luck to you and yours in paradise. I can bet that you will love it.
  14. If you watch closley you see it lunge twice between hits. some times they just bump the bait like crazy without ever biting it. Thanks for the sharp hook tips.
  15. BOO HOO "3 weeks in Costa Rica and my reel is busted" cry me a river

    Rain Gear

Good luck with your search. I have been working outdoors for the last 12 years and have gone through my share of rain gear. I dont think that there is a cheap set of rain gear out on the market that actually works. I have heard that the BPS 100mph suits are only good for a few years and then they eventually leak at the seams. ( a high price to pay ). Recently I saw an amazing suit made by Gloomis that looked like it would holdup well to a torential downpour but it cost $385. The wetskins suits will keep you dry for the first few times but they eventually rip and you will sweat your bag off. Try ordering from Cabellas or Gander Mountain in the U.S. Those Frog togs look okay if you are a homosexual, but they dont look very durable.
  18. 50lbs. Flouro seagar. Back to back uni knot. Re tie often. Always check for nicks and freys. It can be bitten through, its not invinsible. Although wire is fine too
  19. I just woke from a long winters nap ( 2.5 months ) and this is the first report that I saw. Looks great. I might hit that next weekend. Thanks for sharing
  20. I have been farting around with this set up for a while now and I have found that when you hook 2 fish at the same time they seem to work against each other. Usually one fish gets off. I feel that its probably better to use a single setup and target the hungry fish individually.....1 at a time. the set up does look great in the water though.
  21. Good job. 14 months for me. It seems to get easier as time goes by. More time fishing and less time smoking!!! Its all in your head.....Stick with it, no matter how hard it is
  22. I have broken 2. I had a real hard time with the replacement warranty. Never bought one since.
