  1. When I was a kid, we caught a rainbow, a perch, and about 50 crappies ice fishing there once. Great fun! But that was probably 30 years ago. darn I'm getting old!
  2. Great resource for all matters Explorer: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?
  3. I gotta spend the long weekend with the wife's family on a farmhouse near Picton (specifically near Cherry Valley). Which means I need a good excuse to get out and do some fishing. Something along the lines of "But honey, some one told me about this awesome stream!" Can anyone say if there are any decent trout streams around Picton? PM me if you'd rather not name them openly. Thanks a bunch
  4. A sow attacked a man in BC, dude fights back with a stick, and somehow wins. Reminds me of the thread a few years ago about the guy who took on a bear with a knife and won. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/...k-survivor.html
  5. I occassionally ski at Devil's Glen, and walk over a bridge over the Mad River to get to the lifts. Every time I do, I wonder if there's a decent spring trout run. It'd be the perfect place for a ski & fish day!
  6. Did you use the first fish as bait for the second fish?
  7. We're flying in to Sydney for a few days, then flying to Alice Springs. From there, we're driving to Uluru, then up to Kakadu National Park, and then over to Cairns. In New Zealand, we'll fly in to Auckland, then drive down to at least Queenstown, if not further.
  8. Anyone here have experience fishing down under? Specifically, I'd like to hit some streams for trout. A friend of mine will never forgive me if I go there, and don't hook into some rainbows.
  9. A couple summers ago, we drove from Moncton, N.B., to home in Toronto, 1500km, in 16 hours. I believe that's my longest straight through drive ever. Last summer we drove over 16,000km in less than 5 weeks, from Toronto to Vancouver Island to Inuvik and back. This summer its going to be Alice Springs, to Uluru, to Kakadu, to Cairns in Australia. About 5,500km, in about 2 weeks.
  10. Cool report. Could be for a movie shoot?
  11. Made 100% correct decisions, and lost $23. Even at 100% perfect basic strategy, the house still has a 1-2% advantage. How and when you bet is what will make you some $$$ at the table. No disrespect, but playing at 76% is guaranteed to make you go broke in a hurry. You can buy little credit card size charts that will show you the basic strategy. They normally don't mind if you bring one to the table, and often the dealer will even let you know when you're making a mistake. Like splitting tens, when they call it out loud to the pit boss!
  12. The U.S. doesn't import as much oil from the Middle East as you might think. Canada exports more oil to the U.S. than any other country in the world, followed by Mexico. Venezuela and Nigeria also export more oil to the U.S. than any Arab country other than the Saudi's. As far as making money on the exchange rate, buy a used boat in the states, sell it in Canada.
  13. Seen Rush ten times. Just couldn't swallow the ticket price this time around. Best concert ever was Rush in Buffalo, with Marillion opening (my 2nd fave band at the time). They've had some great opening acts like Red Rider/Tom Cochrane, FM (surprisingly awesome), and others I can't recall just now. I met Neil Peart at a Safewater Benefit concert back in the 80's. I bid on and won an autographed albumn (Signals). I still have it!
  14. My chiropractor checked for a cracked rib with a tuning fork. I didn't expect it was cracked, but he wanted to check anyway. He said I would know right away (ie it would hurt!). Stopping by a music shop may be quicker that waiting for x-rays. Not that there's a lot you can do about it anyway. Cute fish!
  15. You're giving me an inferiority complex! Despite that, way to go!!
