  1. My sister walked up to a flock , picked one up and pet it on the head.
  2. Yeah Billy Bob, Why do you sell us first strike stealth attack planes when the only country in range of us is yours? You guys must plan on borrowing them back or something.
  3. You ought to hear my bud carry on about his boys living at home playing video games because they wont belittle themselves to work for less than $20 an hour, he was out of the house at 16. The original post mentioned the Cuban missile crisis, My Uncle was serving in Germany and one night they took their riffles and formed the defense line around the base. They told them if a war starts they will never see the enemy and will be dead in less than 15 minutes. That had to have been a long night.
  4. New nukes have been on the books for a long time but they're held up by the feds trying to sell the co. that makes them and the province wants the feds to cover cost overruns. The only way we will have clean air in Ont. is to build enough nukers to sell cheap power to the states and undercut their coal plants. Or we could use our new stealth fighters and bomb the US coal plants, if we get caught, they weren't stealth enough and we should get our money back.
  5. JBZ they nabbed a guy for that on Quinte....He would take the peddle boat from the dock past the weed line for a swim, no jacket.
  6. Heard one the other day......two pontoon boat were tied together on the lake at night and a motor boat crashed into them, I think the story went that the guy driving the boat claimed they didn't have lights on but everyone else claimed different. The guys with the pontoon boats were charged for not having the card.
  7. If you are working on a boat you must also have a commercial boat operators card. You can challenge the test but it usually requires a coarse to pass it.
  8. Check with the bylaws, you can't put a tent up around here without a permit.
  9. When I was in Fort Mcmurry a duck would burn for for 48 hrs easy.
  10. I snapped both drive shafts in half, I have 2 86 ford f250. The one built later in the year has obvious thinner metal parts, broke both drive shafts and rear shackles. Had to rob the older one for parts. The early 86 351 HO engine was gutless, threw that away too.
  11. Rule 3 General Definitions The term "vessel engaged in fishing" means any vessel fishing with nets, lines, trawls or other fishing apparatus which restrict maneuverability, but does not include a vessel fishing with trolling lines or other fishing apparatus which do not restrict maneuverability. They don't consider trolling lines or riggers restrictive enough to get you the "vessel engaged in fishing" designation. I was wr-wr -wr- wrong about the float plane, the guy was right, a seaplane is to keep clear of all vessels but if a risk of collision exists complies with the rules the same as a boat. But he was still wrong in not avoiding a collision.
  12. Pair of stainless shorty headers of E-bay for under $300 Stock exhaust will fit but you have to screw with the flange on the pipe, headers are bigger. Better still Couple of Cherry bombs and your good to go. Climb under it after driving it and check the universals, the caps will be hot if they're starting to go. Brake adjuster cable falls apart and gets ground up on old F250 fords, take it apart and throw them away. Parking brake cables stick and drag the brakes, throw them away too.
  13. These are where someone is a little bit right and then does something a whole lot wrong. The wake boarder is right in a vessel cannot park itself in the way as it is against the law to impede the free flow of traffic, but this would hardly be the case as there is lots of room to get by without an exchange of paint. Doesn't matter if the drifting boat is legal or not the wake boarder should have given way to the drifting boat. Sounds more like he wasn't keeping watch and the realization that he might have killed someone made him look for someone else to blame. If you are fishing in a channel and boats have to slow down for you, you are impeding the flow of traffic and should move on. But again he should not have been there is no excuse for running over someone. Same thing with the float plane, Float plane on the water is a water craft subject to the same rules as a motor boat so the guy was right on that but wrong when he assumed right of way and ran into it or allowed it to run into him, as Tybo points out no vessel ever has right of way. The regs read vessels give way but never does it say assume right of way and any publication that says different is a usually a screwed up simplified version written by car guys, not boaters. There are so many exceptions to the rules that make it difficult to dictate a right of way, its better to have nobody with right of way, way is always given never taken. The collision regs state you must always avoid a collision no matter if you are the give way vessel or the stand on vessel, you can't run into some one or not avoid them running into you. Tybo , under the definitions none of us would be considered a vessel in the act of fishing that would require another vessel to give way to us. This is for commercial boats that are working all kinds of gear that restrict their movement . A copy of the collision regs makes for good reading when the fish aren't biting.
  14. There's a big difference in hanging up on flat water and hanging up when your riding the rollers home. Remember back when that big charter boat sank when they got the riggers caught in a net. Riggers mounted forward on a small boat are going to be one more thing working against you when it hits the fan.
  15. Riggers have pulled down bigger boats. Pulling on the side of the boat gives less stability than pulling on the back. If you snag up in rough weather your going to have to cut that cable in seconds before you run out of cable and get pulled sideways then flipped. Buddy saw an 18'er get pulled down, said it only took 3 waves.
  16. Do not put them in the water close to shore within 30 miles of a pro bass fishing tourny or you will end up on the 6 o'clock news for killing every fish in the lake.
  17. A bass boat is a converted ski boat with a deck on it. If you check out the manufacturer they probably have the same hull in a ski version.
  18. It doesn't take a very big hole to over run a bilge pump. They did the right thing, they had a problem they called for help.
  19. A more experienced boater might have just drove it home if it was just the drain plug. As far as finding 50 gal. of water in the boat 5 miles out in LO , been there done that, but I did the same thing , stopped and baled it till we got ahead of it. Hole in the bottom. The other time the drain plugs were out of the motor. Steering gets sluggish when the boats full of water.
  20. Long Point is closed for renovation. Ontario has better ways of clean energy than polluting thousands of hectares of Lake Ontario.
  21. That makes you the authority on wind turbines and small mouth bass, send the Ontario Gov. a note and a bill and they'll probably pay you 10 grand. We would camp in the harbor for the weekend and have a fish fry for everybody in the harbor. One year we had over 60 guys. The pro's get a little pizzy when they see us there though. Usually rescue a boat or two if the thunderstorms are up. Lots of history out there.
  22. I missed out on the yearly trip out there this year. There were 25 guys fishing, big fish went 5.2. Lets hope smallies like industrial wind turbines, they plan on putting 168 of them out there.
  23. Right wing media! There starting up a fox news north in Ca. and they're going to need people. You could be the northern Rush or Bill O. You don't need to know anything, just make it up as you go. When you get a few listeners you sell em all kinds of junk. You could do your show right from the boat.
  24. Cops take the commercial boaters coarse out of George brown, but I think any hands on training still has to come on the job. I would suspect this is the result of a trainee doing the work and not being checked afterwords. Or it might just be that crap happens, and I hope they remember that if they catch me with stuff all over the road.
