  1. I've switched over to heavy flourocarbon. With steel leaders, on good bite by a larger fish and they're pretty well crimped and effect the action of the bait. Jay have ro check for nicks
  2. I probably have the same map. It has conturs of the water depths I believe. Nothing charted electronically that I am aware of. The water west of 64 has not been charted - likewise the French has never been charted. I purchased MapCreate for Canada a number of years ago and created my own map, but the best this can be used for is basic navigation. All I have is the contours of the shore-line - rough contourns mind you. I only use it for to mark specific trails and waypoints and such. Nothing for depths or what is lying under the surface. I think the map the others are talking about would be your best choice for the un-charted water up there.
  3. Awesome report. We'd all love a trip like that. Thanks for taking the time to put all the together and sharing with us.
  4. Congrats Gerritt - in many ways. All up hill from here.
  5. Will be good seeing you folks again - been a few years now I do believe. We'll be arriving in Camp later on Saturday afternoon.
  6. Great pics Joey. You always seem to be at the right place at the right time. Maybe there will be a. Inch of weeds when we all meet up in August. That's two great reports from this camp - sounds like the new owners are doing it right. We want to stop in and see Kevin and Leslie as well. See at all soon.
  7. Indeed. !!!!!!
  8. I've made my share of trips over the years with no Muskies, but I just love the area. Will be heading up there the first week in August, so hopefully by then, we'll have some good weeds and can find one. Will be there with a nice group of OFC'rs as well. Looking forward to seeing our friends again - fish or not
  9. Congrats Mike. You make a great product that produces. Glad to see you're getting recognized

  14. Yup. Not bad for a short trip. Good thing you know the area with the electronics crapping out on ya like that
  15. What is a Black Fly ???????? :rofl2:
  16. What is a Mosquito ????????
  17. Sorry to hear that bud. I had to put down my fishing buddy over 8 years ago and I still miss her.
  18. HA HA HA . We must be fishing the same waters.
  19. One option may be Dick Pearson's. "Muskies on the Shield". He has published both a book and DVD on Canadian Shield musky fishing. Not specific to the French River, but may be some similar structure and techniques.
  20. Another vote for Uni to Uni
  21. I am throwing the Double Cowgirls probably 90% of the time and have been doing quite well with em. Mine are black in color with either silver or copper blades.
  22. Didn't Lew use those ???
  23. I use one of the bags from BassPro wiht a shoulder strap. Free's up both hands for carrying other things - especially back and forth to the boat. Wiht the bag, I can also have other Plano boxes and it's easy to swap in and out depending on what I want for that trip.
  24. We'll be hitting the West Arm and Nippissing in early August for a week - then 2 weeks in September on the French River. I have a feeling this is the year for the 50+
