I don't know why he makes things so hard for himself like starting a fire I am very comfortable in the outdoors given my military survival training years back. For me however no one compares to Ray Mears. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Mears You may have seen him on OLN... a great man.

Haven't you heard that story yet?

Yup, what I should have said was a different spot on this lake

Well look at it this way...at least you didn't lose them down a port-o-potty Saw a nice pair sitting on "top" of the pile a couple weeks ago in Trenton. Man that would suck. Hope you find yours in a clean condition

Been slow there for some time apparently. Closes next weekend at that location. MNR was out today doing a survey/study...confirmed things have been small and slow

If you got skills you will survive. I am not worried I picked a career that people cannot do without my services. Can pick up my tools and move on to different things at the drop of a hat if need be. I can see bartering services becoming a huge thing in the next year. Will work for bass boat time

Got some late day ice time at a new location for me. Been wanting to try this spot for a while and it finally worked out for me today as I managed to hook up with some people I know through work. Good overcast and -4C made for a comfy couple of hours. Plenty of ice at this lake which shall remain nameless to the tune of 22 inches. Some of the folks there had struggled to ice five crappie since 7am. I started at 3:30pm and within 10 minutes on my first hole I iced my first fish for the season. This would be the only fish for me and no one else caught anything the rest of the day. Hoping I can get back to this spot soon

A hard lesson for sure. I am a firm (pardon the pun ) believer that if you don't know what you are doing out there you have no business operating a vehicle on the ice. -
I managed to sneak a couple hours out on Scugog today for some ice time. Sure a change since the last time...all hard surface, no snow and solid ice Tried a different spot today as it was easier to walk/slide further out. Had a few solid hits but unable to hook any starting to think Scugog doesn't like me Spoke with some locals moving their hut...walleye was good last few days. Good 16 inches of ice on average where I was today. Lots of people out, cars, trucks & ATV's. Not sure when I will get the chance to go out again but I am hoping it will be somewhere else.

When you have some free time wander through some flea markets...there are plenty of coin collectors offering stuff for sale/trade etc. You will get to see what is common and what is rare. I have a small collection including some rare bills that I won't be trading any time soon I also have an American $2.00 bill. If you ever find one grab it. I spotted a large collection of Amercan $2.00 bills done up in a glass frame recently...almost fell over when I saw the price. It stayed

Awesome boat Lew congrats You will be very pleased with the 'glass ride and stability. I would not want anything but a 'glass boat after running one for years. I have been in one of these and I must say they are spectacular. Good choice with the four stroke

Well TangledLines and I got down to the fishing show today. Early rise and an 8am start for the spectacular bass seminar with Gord Pyzer, Big Jim and gang...wow talk about information After the seminar we wandered through everything but only made a few small purchases. Like everyone else has said no real deals. Seems the price of rods has gone up. 1pm came along very quickly and we showed up at Mercers booth. Looked around and didn't recognize anyone other than Dave Mercer himself who was very busy with a long line up of people looking for autographs. Then I spotted Cliff CCMT and Bly along with TJ and Monique. Shortly after everyone else wandered over: FishinDevil, Buster, Nautifish and JohnF. Wonderful to meet everyone else in person TJ, I thought that was real nifty standing on your tip toes while having your picture taken next to Nautifish So after some good conversation it was time to finish wandering off through the show and call it day.

Hey Cliff glad to hear you are on the mend. Quite an ordeal for sure. Just shows how fast things can get out of hand from symptoms to very ill. Stay hydrated, keep off your feet and get well soon! Plenty of this going around out there so take care everyone. All the best from Jeff & Adrianne. Help is just a phone call away if you need anything

There was a beer area last year -
Was working near the east shore yesterday so I popped over real fast to have a look...was still froze up but in layers on the surface. The river looked a lot more open and closer than when I was there a week ago. Some locals have removed ice huts. Maybe they know something

Served our country as a mechanic in the Armed Forces for four years. After the Mulroney era, I moved on, and am now in my 18th year as a journeyman HVACR mechanic. Been a service manager now for the last 4 years. Do mostly residential and small commercial work now. Have worked large industrial in the past including some interesting machines such as the one that used to bake the enamel on our Ontario licence plates. That was at the now closed Millbrook correctional centre. Not sure where our plates are baked now Turned the corner now and can see that retirement a little closer on the horizon...just another fast 18 to go. well thats the plan anyway but dont tell TangledLines
